This was my second river driver shirt. The double layer really makes this a warm, yet lightweight shirt. Honestly what really drew me to this shirt the first time was the fact that it was made in Nova Scotia. Nice to see something made in North America. Wish more of your clothing was made locally.

These shirts are awesome. They fit nicely are soft and pretty warm. The price is a little high but I'm glad to see they are made in Canada instead of half way around the world.

I like the shirt, it's warm. The only down side is that it is supposed to be dried flat. Like a little girl's angora twin set. A driver's shirt that isn't supposed to be hung out to dry on a clothes line? Or a tree branch?

If you'll be out in cold weather for any real length of time, this shirt is a vital layer. I've owned a few of these over a long, long span of years (they're durable). My two suggestions are: 1) Make this shirt for women (they used to, I'm pretty sure). I'd like to give this shirt as a gift, but in a women's cut. 2) Make it in a crew neck (they used to, I'm wearing mine right this minute). This may sound weird, but I can't wear Henley shirts - the placket and buttons irritate my chest (to a degree where it actually feels sore - I did say it may sound weird). I will make this crew version last until hopefully they make it in Crew again.

Nice quality and comfortable, but not worth the price tag.

I love the River Driver Shirt. I ordered a Large and if fit perfectly, then I washed and dried it and it shrunk so I gave it to my son in law. I then bought an X-Large, big, wore it, washed, and dried it, It shrunk and now fits beautifully, order a size to large. i highly recommend.

I purchased several over the years for my son and me. When I lived in the Mid-Atlantic wearing under a flannel shirt keep me warm during the fall and late winter without a coat. Here in Orlando I wear it all fall and winter without a jacket. Its warm, soft on the skin and fits great. It holds up well for years of weekly washing and wearing.

It reminds me of Duofold long underwear top. I like it but thought it pricey even though I purchased two.

I have several of these in my closet for work around the house. This one seems to be stiffer and scratchier than the others were when they were new but this one is still ok. What is most instructive is what I did not purchase. I did not buy any of several long sleeved items because the sleeves are two inches too long in the x large size. Last year I was gifted a very nice sweater fleece from Beans , and I had to spend $35.00 to have a tailor lop off two inches and trim the cut edge.

Bought these for my husband. He has always had trouble getting shirts to fit in the shoulders & chest. It was no surprise that these were a bit snug, but not too bad. An XL would have been too big. Perhaps a raglan sleeve would be better for his body type. He wears them and loves the fabric.

love material and weight of fabric. only problem is the seam on the arm wraps up to above wrist instead of following the underside of the arm

I bought this shirt for my son for Christmas in navy blue. He likes it a lot and it looks great on him-BUT unfortunately it's missing a button. I'd really expect a $65. shirt to have all it's buttons. So now I am going to have to try to find a button to match, I am not a happy customer at the moment. But it's still a nice shirt.

I expected it to be well made, and it was. It gave me more room in the chest, which was fine. My only gripe was, the neck lining could have been softer. I found it a bit uncomfortable. In contrast, the PJ's I bought were like floating on air.

Item fit well. It's great for an undergarment to keep you warm. The only problem I'd have would be the the weight of the garment isn't like some of the older ones I have. For the price it deserve a heavier weight. Would love to order a couple more but, being retired and LL Bean doesn't offer a senior discount.

Wish the body of the shirt was a little longer. Sleeves would be too long on the extra long.

1-5-2021 I purchased this shirt for my husband for Christmas. I purchased size large, it fit well, sleeves needed to be rolled up which was fine, it fit very comfortably. A great fit. Then I washed it! After first washing it shrunk. Sleeves were a little short, length a little short but was acceptable. Washed 2nd time " totally shrunk again!" I would say the shirt has shrunk at least one full size! So although it's a great shirt, which I still recommend, DO NOT buy exact size or you will be sorry. It definitely shrinks!

My husband loves these River Driver shirts. He has one in every color and wears them all the time. Size 2X is a little tight but that is the largest they come. They are a little expensive, though.

I bought two of these shirts in succession, because I liked the first one so much. The fit is just right for my body size. My upper torso and arms are long for my overall height, so the length of the sleeves and the shirt body are what I wanted. The shirt feels cozy and is appropriate for mild weather days. I like the fact that the material is made in Nova Scotia. The only downside is their care instructions, which require laying flat to dry, as I recall.

I gave the shirt 4 stars. My size of body (call it fat) requires an XL but the two things that weren't terribly a good fit were the length which a bit long and the sleeve were also a bit too long but the body was a nice fit. The shirt's bottom didn't have a super nice finish as I thought it should have been folded and hemmed. Regularly I wear a 35 inch sleeve so my arms aren't terribly short but since the shirt has a nice cuff I could easily fold the cuff backwards and it made for a nice fit but was even then a tad long. I ordered two of these shirts and they provide much warmth and insulation. I wear these shirts as part of my snowboarding and skiing clothing and as casual clothing as well.

Shirt is warm. The only issue is that it is a little scratchy. Not the best base layer.

My son likes these new shirts. I have one problem with them. The hem in the bottom of the shirts just have a serged hem. They are not rolled under like a normal shirt, so to me they look unfinished. But I am a seamstress, so I notice these things. My son could care less.

Looser fit would amp up the warmth via more trapped air, but, if you get a bit larger fit, this would be everything advertised.

This is an excellent shirt. The material is extraordinary, unique and literally awesome it's thick and heavy, and has a slightly rough (some say wonderfully itchy), warm, authentic feel to it. I absolutely love it. Have forgotten how many I have purchased, perhaps 20+! Two suggestions: 1) Put a hem at the bottom. 2) Give it a three button placket. It's one of the articles of clothing that makes L.L.Bean a special venue for clothing. (There have been some changes to certain trademark clothes that were not improvements, please no more change to them.) I remain a loyal long-term customer of L.L.Bean.
