This under-layer shirt is sharp looking and is warmer under my chamois flannels than are other base-layer shirts from other providers. But, as a few others have noted, it can be slightly itchy so I usually put a very light layer on first.

This is a 2nd one I now have.I got a large to allow for shrinkage, if any.
Washed once and dried flat at home. No noticeable shrinkage thus far. Layered with a L/S tee shirt and was very comfortable in cold weather. The cut, make and triim looks ok. I got the dark blue color which works well with jeans or layered with a flannel shirt.

I have two of these from many years ago. Finally gave up that LLB would offer a woman's version of this men's wool-on-the-outside, cotton-on-the-inside shirt. So I ordered a men's small, washed it and then dried it on delicate for 20 minutes to shrink it a bit and it fits me perfectly (I'm 5', 106 pounds). My sister who also loved this shirt many years ago is now going to order it as I've done. So yes, I would recommend that other women buy it also. By the way, I really dark the dark green.

Stepson likes his shirt and we got him the tall extra large. Hopefully, it'll wear as well as River Driver shirts I've had in the past.

This shirt after washing is a little scratchy. I didn't see the material make when I purchased it. It has wool blended with cotton. I thought it was heavy cotton only. Good thing I only partially dried it in the dryer. It didn't shrink too much. You are supposed to lie flat to dry. Nice color and I suspect it's warm.

I have purchased the river driver's shirts for over twenty years. Years ago LL Bean had the shirts in women's sizes. I wish you would bring those back. You had different colors compared to the men. I need a new purple one. I wore it out.
Hopeful,

Comfortable, color and fit as described. Only quibble is the tailoring of the neckline. But I've already ordered another.

Fits to size. Warm. Comfortable since the wool is on outside. I like it

A little snug in the sleeves for my husband who wears a large. Very warm. The washing instructions are a pain since it has to be in cold water only and special drying instructions.

Comfortable and good fit, a little lighter weight than the ones I have from previous years, yes I still have them, they wear well and are warm!

One of my favorites. Not as thick as the previous versions. Nice for me that it's now made in 3XLT.

I have purchased a few of these shirts for my husband in previous years. He loves them!
When I ordered this shirt this year, the colors that I preferred (Black Spruce Heather, and Sea Pine Heather) were Sold Out, so I ordered it in Bright Navy Heather. I looked at the colors available for this item in the paper catalog that I got in the mail, and also on-line. I was expecting the shirt that I got to be a bit "brighter". In my opinion, it would be better described as "Dark Navy Blue". In fact ,it looks quite dark, even in full sunlight. However, the quality of the fabric is excellent, and the cut and fit are excellent. I am NOT requesting a refund or replacement. I am complaining that the description of this particular color is misleading.

This is a great shirt but I like the cotton summer, single layer version better. It is softer feeling, washes and dries better. Although this part wool version suggests line dry I have partially dried it very low temperature and that works well - no shrinkage.

I like it very much. I've worn it pretty much every day since I bought it. The only thing I don't like is that I can't put it in the dryer. I'm hoping I don't forget and throw it in the dryer with the rest of the laundry load.

The fit was a little snug for the 2xlt. I could have been a little looser but it is still very warm.

These have some extremely robust elastic in the cuffs. While that's good for retaining heat, I find them to be irritating as they rub back and forth over my arms all day. I bought two of these shirts, one of which developed a hole in the sleeve after being worn twice. LL Bean was great with the return. Overall the shirt isn't the softest, but it's not awful. All in all, I found these shirts to be fine, but not something I'd order again.

Double layer with this shirt makes it a nice warm shirt to wear for outdoor weather work. My husband has one from many years ago that he refuses to get rid of even though it has small holes all over it from many years of wearing. He loves this shirt, so we got him several more now....but he still won't get rid of his original one. Color selection is great. Not crazy about the price though, but it is a good quality shirt.

The bottom hem is not finished and does not look good untucked.
Everything else is fine.

This is second shirt of this type I have purchased. This one isn't as thick as the first one. It appears they used less material. I would give 4.5 stars if able. I was wondering if LL Bean had changed the process to save a little material ($$).

Have been buying these shirts for years! I want clothing with the highest proportion of natural fibers. I am not a fan of synthetic fibers/petro fleece etc. In the damp climate where I live only real wool gives protection from the cold! I was sad to see you don't sell the shirts regularly anymore so I jumped at the chance when I finally saw them again. As you don't make them for women anymore I purchased mens size which are a little long in the arms but still work. Please bring back more natural fiber clothing!!!

This was a nice top, well made, heavy material. However, both my husband and I didn't like the "unfinished" look of the hem. If woren out it could begin to curl and so we decided to return it.

It's very comfortable to wear, doesn't bind or pull the wrong way. My husband says it's soft and he likes wearing this shirt!
