I have been buying this shirt for my husband for years. He is in construction and uses it daily in the winter as his base layer. The cotton lining is perfect b/c he's allergic to wool. It's holds up like iron and washes well. It's really a staple for him and a real work horse.

This is the second one of these shirts that I purchased. They fit well and provide good warmth with no downside.

My second purchase of this style shirt. Very comfortable and good thickness. Good on it's own on a cool day and also as base layer on a colder day. Comes in several choice colors. A well made shirt that looks to be very sturdy, and therefore a good buy.

This is a great shirt! I wear almost exclusively cotton and wool, mostly merino, so this shirt is just right for me. It arrived promptly and I have worn it every chilly and cold day since, in sun, wind and rain. I have washed it a few times and, yes, it shrank a bit, so now it is perfect. After the second washing, I ran it through the dryer. No problems. It cleans well and is warm and comfortable. The sleeves are long enough, the cuffs stay put and the tail is long enough to keep out the draft. I'm planning on buying another, maybe even two! If you like being outdoors and want that one extra, cozy layer next to your skin, do not hesitate to buy this shirt.

This shirt runs large. My husband has an athletic build with low body fat, broad shoulders, 6 ft, 190#, long torso, 32-33" waist in jeans. He usually wears a large in most shirts. After buying multiple sizes, we figured out that he's a medium regular in LL Bean pull over shirts like this one and the longsleeved T-shirts. With the Bean button down shirts, it's a whole other ball game. But only button down shirt that fit him well, was the large "slimmest fit" shirts. If you run broader in the shoulders and slimmer in the hips, size down in this LL Bean classic.

From my very 1st river driver shirt I bought I was hooked. I ended up getting all the colors, solid and two tone. Very soft and warm with a comfortable fit. Pros: lightweight but warm, dressy and casual uses, lots of colors to choose, comfortable, can have layers added to. Cons: can be itchy feelin but just wear silks or lake washed tee underneath, two tone colors have had some color bleed, must line dry no dryer to keep from shrinking and keep itch free Overall I love them and glad I have them once it's cold outside. Allows me to keep the thermostat lower. Saves me money wearing wool.

So glad you continue to carry this shirt. My husband loves them for their warmth without bulk and itchiness, He wears them until they are thread bare. He doesn't like modern versions with 1/4 zip fronts, nor the crew neck. Hard to find from any other vendor.

Reviewing for my men. Hubby and teen boys are scouts - when damp, cold, raw weather is here for campouts, outdoor events or yard work, this is the shirt we all want to wear. They each have 2 or 3 colors. I miss the women's version - please bring it back. I have 4 of them! Warmer than a cotton sweater and much less bulky.

Bought two of these shirts and there has been no looking back. These are great shirts to wear separately or under another shirt/sweatshirt. Extremely comfortable in cold/mild weather and roomy enough to not restrict movement.

I have been wearing these shirts for years. They make a great layering piece. They are soft on the inside with the wool layer on the outside, which works great. It was time for a new one and this one is as good as the ones before. I generally wear a medium but bought a large to allow for shrinkage.

If I had the money I would buy several for all my outdoor activities.

The is a great shirt, when it cold and you need that second layer, this is the best shirt. won't shrink and true to size. I like the long body to cutoff the drafts. I need another one to keep one clean one in the wash.

husband uses these shirts for work and has for 25 years no others like them with 2 layers for warmth .. the best, wear, and quality so happy with them

I'm always amazed at how warm these shirts are and at the same time wonder why there isn't long underwear made with the same material ? also you might want to think about adding a pocket.

The extra long Henley is a great way to enjoy cold weather. It can be worn with or without a shirt.

Another L.L. Bean "Home Run"!!

I was first introduced to the River Drivers shirt years ago when my mother purchased one for me as a gift. I still have the original shirt from thirty years ago and it is still in good shape! The multilayer design adds extra warmth and the inside fabric is warm and soft. I have purchased a few of these since that time and love the fit and quality. I am 6 feet plus in height and love the fact that they are offered in tall sizes also.

I'm always looking to use wool clothing for work because it's fire resistant. LL Bean always has a good selection. I work as a wildland firefighter. I picked up this shirt for my red bag as a base layer for on the line and sleeping in camp. The day after it came we were flown out to the wilderness where I spent 5 days wearing it. It held up great and kept me warm. Can't complain that it comes in green. I would recommend this shirt. It will be staying in my red bag permanently.

I love the shirt and the fit. As new, I can still tell there is wool in it. I think as it gets a couple of washing this is going to be better and a favorite.

I have three of these shirts and wear them all of the time. Nice to have the warmth of wool with the comfort of cotton. Please bring back the "baseball" version with colored, preferably navy blue, sleeves with a white body.

I love it! It is a great color. It's soft and warm and has a good length fitting me past the hips.

My husband's previous Henley wore out and when he saw this one, he wanted to try it. It is a hit!

I have worn these shirts during cold weather for over 30 years. As I age I find them necessary in the cold weather. They are comfortable and they hold up to washing very well.

I'm so glad that my husband loves his Christmas gifts. Everyday he has one of his shirts on, then washes them so that he can wear them again.
