They are a bit difficult to put on, but once on they wear good.

I felt that the sizing suggestion was off. I feel like the sizes runs big. I am normally a 9.5 but ordered an 8 and it feels like the best fit. I love the softness of the leather, makes it immediately comfortable, even the first time wearingthem.

Theae are great boots - sized right, comfortable, stylish
Could use some more insulation on the toe side (top side) as i find it cold when used in < 30F even if wearing thick / double socks.
Could also use more grip as it is on the slippery side

Nice waterproof boots, but they run a little big. I wear a 10 and a half, but there are no half sizes, so I bought an 11. A 10 probably would have been better. I wore two pairs of socks and they worked just fine shoveling snow and walking around in the snow. The fit is too loose for hiking, but that's not why I bought them.

I wear a 9D to a 9.5D. I ordered a 9D and it was too large. I returned it for a size 8D. Order one size down. This shoe really runs large by about one size.

The boots seem well constructed. They run large so pick a size down.

I have not had the opportunity wear them yet because of our great weather. I am a little worried about your sizing policy. If I wear a size 9 you purchase a size 8. Too confusing.

I like the size but I think you don't have them in the EE size so I did the size this way, but I still love it.

I gave these to my husband for Christmas, but unfortunately, they are too large on him. I am returning them for an exchange for a smaller size. He really does like the boot.

I ordered as suggested, if you are going to wear thick socks order your normal size which was a 9 for me. I've worn two pairs of thick socks and they are still a little to long and wide. However, they feel so good and comfortable I am deciding whether are not to return them. I've contacted the company to find out how to return them. I'm just a little impatient to return them now. Maybe I'll keep this pair and learn from this and order a size down the next time. It seems I might have to wait some time before getting a size 8 during this time of the year with this particular boot.

I was looking for an all around boot for the winter to keep warm, water proof, easy on easy off. Friends have always bragged about the L.L.Bean quality! When ordering first time around, I did not see anything indicating you should order half a size down from what you would normally wear (They were too big) I found out after I went to the store to exchange, and send back. First pair, stitching, cut of the leather, overall craftsmanship, looked great! 2nd pair going down half a size to an 11 fit well, but the overall craftsmanship was not as good as the 1st? The leather wasn't cut clean or even, where it met the stitching. The back designs are not centered, I'm particular about details. Thank you,

Our Buffalo NY winters vary, one moment 50 degrees next a blizzard. We have not had opportunity to try out on extreme cold day yet, for warmth factor. Our 14 yr old grew fast. Size 12, these fit perfect in length & width (his foot slightly wide) but overall, these boots are Huge without a really bulky wool sock. Therefore for everyday wear with typical sports socks, his foot is all overall. Not sure best purchases for everyday running out door to school, unless you like to carry extra socks around- which on blustery day he may.

Love the boots. They run big, but I knew this from my other pair of boots. The tartan lining at the top gives a great accent to the classic boot. I have resoled my old boots twice. They are the ones with the gore-tex insulation. My only disappointment with the new boots is that they do not fit as snugly as the gore-tex lined boots. Needless to say, they will be resoled once again. To solve my issues I purchased a few pairs on Bean socks and a few pairs of rag wool socks. I would love to see these boots with a lining all the way through the boot, but they are still everything you would expect from LL Bean in terms of style and quality.

These are my first pair of Bean Boots. I was looking to buy some several months ago and saw that there was a flannel-lined option, so I decided to wait. I ordered them back in September and received them about a month later (they were backordered), and was amazed at the quality of the leather and craftsmanship. I tried them on and they were WAY TOO BIG. They recommend you order your "true size," but I would definitely recommend ordering a whole size down. I am sending them back and getting the next size down and hopefully it won't take another month before I get these ones. Great boot, but be careful of the sizing.

I just received these boots in a size 12. The length seemed OK, maybe a hair too long, but the upper part of the boot was too big. They wouldn't lace tight to my ankle. I could easily fit two fingers between the tightly laced boot and my ankle. Very weird cut.

I would have loved to keep them. I could tell they were well made, but the size is way off. And now the smaller size is unavailable and I lost the holiday discount. Probably a full size and half too big. I have multiple different brands of shoes all size 11. I took the "Find my size" it said size 11. WRONG! Maybe have a digital print off that will help people get the right size.

I should have listened to all the previous reviewers. I'm a size 9 in every single shoe I own, with a narrow foot. Ordered a 9 thinking I'd throw some thick socks on and they would fit snug, but they slid around my heel way too much. Even in two pairs of thick wool socks they won't fit. So go a size lower. Size 8 with some standard winter boot socks and these fit great. Very comfy, stylish and can't wait to use them for years.

TBD. I ordered a size 11, they were huge. A 10 was perfect but there's a lip in the back heel on the inside of both boots that's concerning. I can feel the lip but haven't worn these long enough to know if it's gonna cause an issue. ll bean needs to monitor QC, especially when folks are dumping a lot of money every year for their gear. The boots are impeccable but something is wrong with the assembly. My wife's exact same pair don't have this issue. Sadly a replacement isn't available for awhile so I'll have to see if these cause any pain. It's really not that's hard to make sure things are right, especially when someone dumping $250 on boots.

I bought these when they were special editions, so about 3 years ago. I haven't really worn them until this winter. I usually wear a size 12.5. These lined bean boots are size 11 and are still a bit long (wearing heavyweight cresta socks), but since I sized down, they are now also a bit narrow.
So first time stepping in the snow this year, I immediately felt the cold through the molded brown rubber area, but not through the "chain-tread" bottoms. I believe that this popular boot design is 108 years old, maybe it's time to update. I find the heel to be super uncomfortable. It could still be stitched the same way, to have the same exterior aesthetic, but the molded rubber portion of the heel, on the inside, should curve up, so that the heel can grab comfortably and properly. Instead, the huge seam between the molded rubber and the soft broken-in leather is positioned awkwardly on the heel of the foot. Stuck somewhere between flopping off and securely on, walking in these boots is an anxious experience. Otherwise, they are made well and look cool.

A refund in a gift card for $270 - really cheap! Should have refunded my card. Had to order two sizes to find the correct fit. Love the ones that fit, but I shouldn't have to buy 2 pairs in the process.

I clearly forgot that I wasted $13 trying on two different sizes of bean boots in 2015. They didn't fit then and they don't fit now. Everything is big. Your feet will wiggle unless you wear thick wool socks. Or maybe 5 pair of socks. No thanks. And the laces don't help to tighten the boots around your upper foot and ankle because there is way too much leather material. If you have thick feet and cankles then this may be for you. Clearly they are married to their sizing chart and return policy. Free returns are the norm these days. I guess they have to be different with everything. I'm moving on from bean and not looking back.
