Comfortable, light, great ventilation, and very "grippy". Their loving life scrambling from wet rock, to wet rock here at the top of the Chesapeake!

I have found theses walking shoes to be comfortable for road walking (not a hiker). I am rehabbing arthritic knees and these seem to help with that so I am pleased.

So far, these are light-weight, well ventilated, and comfortable shoes. I say "so far" because I haven't put a lot of miles on them yet. However, these were 'good to go' straight out of the box. I feel my foot is properly supported and the sole is thick enough to protect the bottoms of your feet.
Because these are light-weight hikers, I wouldn't want to take them on rocky, steep terrain where there might be a lot of loose gravel or scree. Also, because they are well ventilated, they probably wouldn't be suitable for long, cold-weather hikes. Your foot would also get pretty wet if you were hiking on damp, rainy trails.
Aside from those limitations, I feel these are going to be great for fair-weather hiking. I'm pleased with my purchase.

These shoes fit extremely well right out of the box. There was no "break in". The hikers are ultra light and the tread is well designed. They are as good or better than brands that sell for twice the price.

I was worried about the shoes being too tight at first but decided I would give them a field test. These are now my go to walking shoes and I grab them automatically before doing my daily regime. They are still somewhat snug despite several hundred miles of use and I love the feel of them. Thanks bean.

I ordered these and have been totally impressed with the fit and comfort. This was my first time ordering on line and I couldn't be more pleased with it.

Shoes are well made very comfortable and well priced.
I ordered both the waterproof verison and the non waterproof .
They are both an excellant value. I would definately recommend
these to a friend.

I've bought 6 pairs of foot ware in the past 7 months and I am yet to be disappointed with the quality and these shoes are no exception. The length was perfect but the width was a little snug, but not so much that I would return them.Sometimes a snug hiking shoe is a good thing. As far as these being advertised as " Ventilated ", I was impressed with how ventilated they are. My feet do sweat and today I wore them on a 70 degree day and my feet stayed dry ! Now I am thinking of buying the high top version.

Something doesn't feel exactly right. Not the most comfortable.

Hello,
Comfortable and rugged as promised.
However, I agree with other reviews that the tongue is too short. Sometimes the uppermost lace disappears underneath it.
Suggestion: Either lengthen the tongue or provide an 'eye' through which the lace can pass.

Thought the inner sole would have more padding but seems acceptable

Good rugged soles, good ventilated construction. The only issue was there was not enough arch support for my feet. That was easily fixed with the addition of some Dr. Scholls inserts. Now they are perfect.

A good fit as well as good looking light weight hiker shoe. Suitable for walking the dog, hiking or casual wear.

Just received and I'm pretty sure they will be as good as our other LL Bean Shoes, beautiful craftsmanship and design.
Note: I had to return the 1st pair as they fit too tight, Very Unusual to order 1/2 size larger than normal?

These shoes fit my husband well. They look fine and he probably won't destroy them for a while.

Very comfortable shoe but developed 'hiker toe". This could be in part due to the hilly terrain where I hike and shoe design.

These are good shoes. My last pair of shoes from LLbean were a bit more sneakerish....these are more substantial, what I liked was that the top lace was through an eyelet vs. fabric (which was the reason why my old shoes failed). These seem sturdier, better traction, they do pick up small stones. Very nice shoe, reasonable price, fit well. Much cooler temperature wise than many other shoes I've tried. Good Shoes. If the soles shed mud and stones easier I would have given a 5 rating.

I usually buy Targee II which is a great shoe but thought I would try these. These are just ok they don't have the same sole/insole, went back to Targee

Shoe fits very well. Love the color and looks. Heel seems a little high. I'm an old duffer, and now struggle to walk tall. Seems like shoes tend to make me lean forward.

I live in southern New Mexico and do a lot of hiking and biking. Because of the climate I need shoes that are well-ventilated to keep my feet cool and dry during the many warm/hot months. These shoes perform better in that regard than any other I have owned I can even wear them during the winter months as long as I pair them up with thick wool socks.
These shoes have a stiff enough sole that I can wear them for moderate trail hiking and my bike rides. They do not provide enough ankle support for rough trail hiking or bushwacking.
I need to replace these shoes about every 18 months because the heels wear out and the midsoles become too compressed to effectively absorb ground impacts.
I've been buying and wearing these shoes for about 6 years. When I first bought them they were priced at $79/pair. Now they are priced at $99/pair. The exact same shoe, but now 25% more expensive.
The shoes fit true to size (I wear an 11 Medium). They are made in Vietnam.

These shoes are comfortable, have good support and have excellent traction. So I can be comfortable going up & down hills when the trail is loose dirt or loose gravel. Definitely not watertight, but they are clearly labeled as ventilated shoes so watertight cannot be expected. I've only had them about a month but I use them several times/week and I'm glad I purchased them.
