My favorite walking shoe is back after months out of stock. I wear an 8 EE, which has been hard to find in any of the versions of the Trail Model 4 hiking shoes since 2019. I had ventured into the "waterproof" version early in the year when they became available, and they were surprisingly too narrow. I returned them and waited. I took advantage of "pre-order" availability last month for the "Ventilated" style and was pleasantly surprised to receive the shoes within 2 weeks. I was even more happy to find that the sizing & comfort were just what I've grown to expect ... perfect! These are my most comfortable shoes of any type, and I love the lighter weight of the "Ventilated" style for my daily subdivision hikes versus the more robust versions of the Trail Model 4 series. Excellent!

Comfortable and fits my needs

These shoes are comfortable right out of the box. Stylish and practical they go well with jeans or shorts. Here in Alabama the breath-ability is a definite plus. I highly recommend these shoes. Another great product from LL Bean!

As many know, ordering shoes online is a risky proposition. Ordered my regular size. The fit is perfect for my needs. The shoe is of exceptional quality. I expect to get the same quality and experience that I have from the many L.L.Bean garments that I have ordered and used over the past few years. I would recommend this merchandise to any customer that has a need for a reliable supplier of wearing apparel.

I am very happy with these hiking shoes. Fit good and very comfortable. I actually have one pair in each color. I purchased a pair for my father and he like his too. I use them more as a walking shoe rather than a hiking shoe. For hiking, I prefer something with ankle coverage.

I use them everyday for work plus some. They usually last a little over a year for me. That is saying something for being under 100$. I'm about to order my third pair in just under 4 years. I think I'll try a new color. Overall so very pleased with these .

I wear this shoe as a golf shoe -- far superior to any "golf shoe" I've ever had. Comfortable, good support and good grip. Normally I wear a 9 wide, but for some reason I ordered this pair as a 9.5 wide and that turned out to be the right size for me.

Normally, Medium D width shoes are too narrow for me and I need Wide EE. However, these are more than wide enough even with wool socks. They fit wonderfully and are very comfortable. In addition, they provide great stability and traction. Come summer, I will be ordering the lighter mesh design. These are without a doubt my new favorite shoes.

just bought my 2nd pair

I Don't write reviews from retailers. I figure they can pay me for my time in praising their product, BUT this was truly a perfect fit. It felt even more comfortable after going to several other shoe stores and finding nothing close. I love the, and will buy another pair just to have them in reserve for when these wear out.

The shoe is well constructed and fit snugly on my foot.The tread seems to work well in loose soil and leaves of the forest floor and on roadways as well. Have not tried it on snow and ice yet. The shoes are comfortable to wear. For me I could have used a bit more of an arch support as I have moderate to high arches. That aside I am pleased with the shoes and look forward to long wear.

Climbed Mt. Katahdin last month. 34,000 steps, not one slip. Went up the Hunt trail, came down the Abol trail. I was confident with every step. Comfortable right out of the box.

This was a purchase for my very difficult to fit husband who has "duck" feet-very wide and short. Not only did they fit across the width, but they were comfortable from the start, rarely happening in past experiences. This is the second pair of shoes from LL Bean we have had success with. Beats travailing from store to store trying on shoes.

A quick read of the description might suggest that they are waterproof, since the suede is really waterproof, but the mesh parts are not. Even a quick dunk in a puddle and your feet will get wet. If the waterproofing is not important, then they are great shoe and very comfortable for leisurely hiking. If you want a waterproof model try TA299637.

The best walking shoe I've ever purchased. Usually I get cramps after long distance walking. Not w these shoes. I walked more than 18 miles over 4 days in NYC, no cramps. Extremely comfortable !!!!

I received a pair for Christmas and liked them so much I bought a second pair to rotate the wear. Sturdy shoe, very comfortable with excellent arch support. I don't need to wear orthotics with these shoes which was a nice surprise.

Great shoe, very comfortable for both short term and all day wear and walking.

Quality materials and stitching. Reasonably lightweight and breathable. Aggressive tread is good for pavement or trail or everyday wear. Fit seems a tad tight for thicker socks but I wear these with thinner socks which are fine. Look good with jeans, cargo shorts, or casual slacks. I'd buy again.

Lite with good support. I first purchased a D Width, which was a little too narrow. D was normally my regular size, but an associate measured my feet & said I could take an EE. I ordered it online & it's a perfect fit. At the sale price of 20% off it was a great buy.

Got these just before we section hiked a portion of the Appalachian Trail in PA. They were great - performed better than expected. They handled the rocks really well, they dried quickly and they provided great support for my 53-year-old frame. Bought a size 14 which gave me plenty of room for my toes. Could not be happier.
