Excellent fit, very wearable, super ankle support, not heavy, cool and breathable, very good traction. No shortcuts were taken in this boot - and the price is excellent. I would buy it again (and again, except that the boot is rugged and I think it will not need to be replaced for many, many years!)

I have always been pleased with LL Beam products; therefore, when I was looking for a comfortable walking shoe with over the ankle support, I search LL Beam.
I am 66 years old so I wanted the over the ankle support and a comfortable walking/hiking shoe/boot. I am outdoors a good bit in all kinds of weather so waterproof is a real benefit.
I am well please and recommend the Men's Trail Model 4 Waterproof Hiking Boots for the outdoors person.
I have the low cut similar version for around town walking.

I bought these boots in brown and when they arrived they were so comfortable that I ordered the gray pair as well. They look real sturdy and have been holding up well through a vacation with walking tours in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Switzerland and Italy. I even wore them on the dance floor on a river cruise ship. That's the only thing so far that I can't recommend them for.

I have used these boots daily for work for over a month, and I can only imagine how wonderful they would be if I were a hiker. I wear them as 'work boots' on a 263 acre nursery, and they replaced steel toed leather waterproof boots. There are times when I return home that I do not want to take them off as they are almost as comfortable as my L.L. Bean Elk Hide slippers. A perfect fit from the get go, and their 'bumper' toes and heels have saved me countless injuries from very heavy plant carts, not to mention the supreme traction of the souls on wet concrete surfaces.

Great buy for the money.Fit well and look good. I wear these as a casual dress shoe and it appears as though they will last quite awhile. Best part is I can wear them in adverse weather and not worry about ruining the shoe

I love these, the fit is great, and they needed very little break in. This is the second pair of shoes I have ordered, the snow sneakers were so good I tried these as well. No complaints at all.

I bought this for my son who is a boy scout and 13 years old. I would buy him fancier boot but his shoe size changes at least twice a year. The price point and quality of this boot is just right. He has 5 pairs of all different sizes and never had an issue during hike or campout. It performs well in wet weather too. Only wish there is more color choices.

Well designed and constructed. Since I have lower leg muscle and nerve damage, I need to add a gel insert in the heel and have good ankle support. The end fit is perfect and comfortable.

My boots were comfortable. I used them on a 10 mile hike without any blisters. Washed them with a hose to remove pollen and my feet stayed dry.

Great fit, no break-in time, simple design. Ordered the Vasque GTX first, which I've worn for years, but the last changed, too long and wide in my size (11). Then a more expensive LL Bean model, way too wide for me. If you have a B or C width, these are for you. Been with LL Bean for 44 years, since the original blue work shirt, and they generously took back the other boots and sent these on. I also had gone out and tried several different bands of boots, but none feel as good as these $99 boots, every bit as good in quality as $240 boots out there, and a company that will stand behind them. Highly recommended.

My previous boots (bought ~25yrs ago from LLB) both failed on the same day a few weeks back, amazing. Obviously these are not the same boot but similar so I bought them.
Fit well and construction quality appears great.
I'll post back in 25yrs or so to let you know how long they lived.

I'm happy with mine -- lots of feel-good for only $100.
I have worn the previous version of this boot -- the Model 3 -- more than 200 days in the last 15 months. Those boots are still solid, there is some decent tread left, and they are still waterproof -- at the end of the day my feet feel fine and my socks are still dry after walking every few days in puddles an inch or two deep.
I was concerned that the replacement Model 4s would not be as good, but so far they are just as good -- maybe better. Read on:
Every other shoe I bought the last few years have delaminated before the tread wore out -- except for my 16" LL Maine Hunting shoe that I bought a couple of years ago to replace my 12" Maine Hunting Shoes I bought 20+ years ago. Sure got my money's worth out of those !! Walked a lot of swamps and creeks in those.
I usually wear a 12EEE and the 12Wide of these fit a bit tight with thick socks the first couple of days, but are fine now. The shoelace eyelets are excellent -- I can get the tightness I want with easy tugging on the shoelace ends. I don't have to adjust them up and down to get it right. Also, I like the single speed lace hooks at the top better than the stack of 2 lace hooks on my Model 3s. Hope yours work as well for you.

I walk at least 5 miles a day, every day of the year. The boots I bought fit great and required little break in. More an issue of me getting used to a new boot. The boot fit so well that I bought another pair in a different color to wear as casual dress. You can't beat LL Bean. Best thing is if you don't like the it, you just return it. no questions asked.

Like the color.
Have not really put the waterproof aspect to the test. I'm sure I will at some point.
It is impossible to exactly fit the width of a shoe to every foot. But my boots fit fine with some heavy socks.
They are easy to break in.

I used to wear the Keene waterproof hiker, but I just couldn't be comfortable in those. I wanted to support Keene because the boots were made in America of globally sourced materials. Anyway, after many months of deliberation, I tried these LL Bean hikers because in the fall and spring here, the grass is either wet, or dewy. Well, by Jove, the Vietnamese got this one right. The size and width are spot on and they stay dry most of the morning.

Needs to be broken in & tends to make your feet sweat on warm days. Otherwise, it's a nice shoe for trail hiking.
