I have an old pair of 6" Bean boots that I absolutely love, a three-season boot that can be worn anytime, anyplace. I recently picked up this 8" pair with Thinsulate and was pleased to find that the insulation isn't too much - it's just right! Once the leather gets broken-in, which doesn't take long, they are very comfortable with just the right amount of warmth. You can be outside in cool weather indefinitely and tolerate bitter cold weather longer than you'd expect. I think they fit about a half size big, which I like so i can wear thick socks when needed.

Let me start this with the big controversy of these boots: The sizing. Some say go up a size, some say go down a size. I wear a size 10.5 D width regular shoe, and the size 9 D boots fit me perfectly. LL Bean's guidelines suggest a thumb's width of space between the end of the big toe and the end of the boot, and I get just that. I tend to wear either the LL Bean campfire ragg wool socks, or I'll even wear super thick Darn Tough socks and both of these fit snug in the boot with no issues. However, thin athletic socks seem to be a tad too thin, but very doable as long as it's not all day every day. As for the boot itself, this is the best winter boot I've ever owned. With the mix of waterproofing leather+rubber and the thinsulate lining to keep it extra cozy, my feet DO NOT get cold in this, weather I'm trudging through snow or standing still on a windy day. Not to mention the traction on these boots are fantastic. I decided to shovel snow as cardio and actually ran back and fourth on fresh snow and slush without slipping. All in all, I highly recommend this boot to anyone looking for a warm, waterproof, fall/winter/early spring boot. I do believe the thinsulate would be a bit too warm for the warmer weather, however.

I've had these for a few weeks now and finally had some snowy and flooded conditions to use them in. They are great - warm and dry. I wear middle weight wool socks with them. My Asics sneakers are 9.5 but after reading the sizing guidelines in LLBean I ordered these in a size 8 and they were right-on with the advice. Looking forward to breaking them in. Thank you!

Good fit. I'm normally an 8.5 and ordered an 8. Warm and more comfortable than other duck boots I have owned.

Ordered my normal size since I wanted to add an insole. Without the added insoles, they were too big. Love the Wide size option. Use the size guide LL Bean provides and you'll be happy.

These are the best boots I have owned, period! Paired with thick wool socks, they are very comfortable and fit very well. I hope to enjoy these boots for many years!

Shoe fit as everyone explained. Need a size smaller than you normally wear. Shoe fits like a glove with winter socks on. Walking around outside after a snowfall without a care in the world because my feet are nice and warm. Look great too! Do yourself a favor and buy them already!

These are comfortable. Leather is a bit stiff compared to past purchases.

After 30 years, my previous pair of boots needed to be 'retired'!! The new pair are everything I expected, comfortable, warm and dry! These boots are well worth the money and I would recommend them to anyone.

My family members have all been wearing the Bean Boot for as long as I can remember. They are the all year round wearable boot. Good in the rain, snow, mud and just wearing on the street because they look and feel great! Try a pair, I know you won't be disappointed! We even called our new puppy, Bean, after them.

My son loves them. If you are looking for a boot that is warm without having to wear a heavy sock, I would suggest the next step up.

Have always wanted a pair as my grandfathers lasted 50 (?) years. These are very comfortable, very (but not too) warm and have good grip.

I bought these boots a few years ago. They have been wonderful! Great fit. Warm. Rugged. What I like the very best about these Bean boots is the tread.... Excellent traction on snow and slush...Very good traction on ice ( they have saved my butt a couple of times). Then a few weeks ago I sent the boots back to be resoled. I just got them back. Wow! What a great job! They even put new laces and insoles in the box. Please LL Bean, do not ever change the tread. I am ready for Winter now. Thank you!

Second pair and just waiting to slip them on for walk in the woods with dogs. Everything that has been written and more.

Quality of workmanship appears excellent. The instructions regarding proper fitting were inaccurate for me. The instructions recommended a size smaller but I found out the hard way that I should have ordered my regular size. Needed to return and reorder but the process was very easy and smooth. Looking forward to wearing these boots during the snowy weather here in Western Mass.

I love these boots (as long as they are made in the US)! They make me like rainy days! I struggled a little bit with sizing and had to exchange them once. I am a 10 US in dress shoes and a 9.5 to 10 US in work boots. For these, I had to downsize to 9. Conclusion: follow LL. Bean "downsize 1 full size" tip and you'll be fine. Also, hats off to the amazing customer service: they really helped me through.

I gave a pair to my husband and he loved them. I had given a pair to my daughter a few years ago and she still loves them and wears them in the winter when it's cold and snowy. They have held up well and still look as good as new.

They do the job! Fit well, comfortable, and keep you dry! They will last a long time.

I normally wear a size 8 and a half shoe, but LL Bean knows one will wear the boot with heavy socks, so all is well.

I bought this for my hubby bec. he requested them. He's always wanted a pair without the liners to work outside in. He absolutely loves these boots and recommends them highly! Thank you LL Bean! He loves that they are waterproofed, comfortable and lightweight.

Theses boots are wonderful.My husband has 2 other pairs that he has worn down completely and is going to have them resoled.Would definitely recommend these.

Ordered a pair of insulated bean boots for working in winter months and with a pair of wool socks they are very warm! Followed fit suggestion and they fit like a glove. Short break in period as well

I bought these for my son for his birthday. They were way too big, so he exchanged them. He absolutely loves them.

One hiccup I encountered, thru my fault, was that I did not pay attention to the size ordering instructions. So I ordered my regular size and they were to large. PAY ATTENTION to the instructions. Other than that, Great boots, comfortable out of the box.

Awesome boots, I got these boots for Christmas this year the website said if I didn't wear thick socks to order one size down. I followed the instructions with a little apprehension. The shoes arrive and fit absolutely perfect. They feel like they were made specifically for my feet. A totally awesome experience. Not to mention they're also waterproof and warm. :-)
