Fantastic! My 21 yr old daughter and I bought These hiking boots on her fall break on our way to Acadia. These did not disappoint and we tackled about 10 miles over two days. These were a critical instrument allowing great grip on boulders on our ascent, and trustworthy non-skid on the way down with absolutely no toe jamming (I had recollections of this from previous hikes many moons ago.) I am happy to report no blisters and I look forward to another experience in my Bean boots. I wear a 10 in running shoes because I slip in VIONIC insoles, even though in dress shoes I'll go to a nine or nine and a half. The 10 was great, I wore my insoles and medium weight wool socks. Plus, I had no tenderness around the ankle, and these are very light weight.

These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned! They flex with your foot while walking over uneven ground. No more twisting my ankle on a hidden branch or rock! The toe box is nice and high, and they are warm, keeping my foot at a comfortable temperature. I have arthritis, plantar fasciitis and hammer toes, and I can wear these all day even without my inserts. These are the first shoes in a long time that I have actually enjoyed wearing - thank you for such a wonderful hiker!

Comfortable even when new. Just the right amount of tread for hiking over smooth to steep and rocky terrain here in NH. Have not had them long enough to assess durability. Size 8 fit me well with room for bulky socks though I usually wear a 7 1/2.

I bought these for hiking in the Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge/Assateague National Seashore and was not disappointed. Started wearing them early to break the boots in but it wasn't needed. These were comfortable from day 1. Our trip started with four days of rain and not one bit of water made it's way to the inside. Great boot with a good price equals a wonderful value. Would definitely recommend and will probably purchase another pair while they are available.

The first time I used them, for a short level hike, they were comfortable. The next time was for a 5+ hour hike on a trail called the Stairway to Heaven. These boots were comfortable all the way up and back down this steep and rocky trail. Comfortable and water resistant , what else could anyone ask of hiking boots?

Great fit and comfort right out of the box . I have difficulty finding shoes that fit and to walk comfortably in. These boots are perfect for support and assisting with a normal gait. Love them!

These boots have it all. They offer excellent traction, keep my feet warm and dry in the rainiest weather, and have excellent ankle support. The first time hiking in these, I hiked 6 miles. The next week, I went backpacking with my family and hiked 7 miles total (in the wet, Alaskan rainforest). The following weekend after that, I hiked 4.5 miles through some rough terrain.... bogs, rooted trees (uphill and downhill) along a cliffside trail. These hit my lifestyle so well and are lightweight enough that I'm not dragging my feet. I have bad ankles and have sprained them quite a few times in other boots. I don't have an issue with these on. I'm sooooo happy with this purchase!

I purchased these boots right before we left to hike a few National Parks out west. I did not have time to "break" them in. I loved these boots! No "break" in period for me. The boots were extremely comfortable, waterproof and a perfect fit from out first hike out. Did NOT have any problems with rubbing around my ankles. Did NOT have any blisters or sores on my feet. I did wear the proper wool socks with my boots though so I went half a size bigger than I usually wear. I highly recommend this LL Bean item.

I always read the reviews before I buy. Reviewers came through again! Perfect, comfortable fit right out of the box! Walked the first 4 miles on the treadmill at the gym, just to keep them clean in case they needed to be returned. No problem. Took the hardest, rocky, wet, hike ever in them, and I never felt the need to change out of them on the way home. Feet, ANKLES, heels, knees: all fine 24 and 48 hours after. So worth the price!

She loves these boots. She just put 60 miles on them in Glacier NP. No blisters. She liked that the construction was lighter but still supportive.

It has made walking the hiking trails easier and made me more confident to walk the tougher part of the trails.

I love these boots. The fit was perfect and comfortable from the moment I first put them on. I could wear them all day. I wear them for yard work and hiking.

These boots are very well-made and very comfortable from the get-go with excellent ankle support. I was hesitant buying leather (always prefer non-animal products - sadly not as available as should be) but these are nicely waterproof as advertised and have held up well so far on our daily rough-terrain hikes. If I have to give criticisms it's that they have a white stripe along outer sole (..what's with the WHITE soles/sides on footwear meant to actually be worn outdoors? Who likes their shoes flashing brightly with every step and always looking filthy after their first real outing?!). Also these may be a tad too ski-boot-like with the chunky toe and hooks & lace-up styling, but both are minor flaws given their excellent performance for women looking for a quality hiking boot. To LLBean designers: Please stop making active footwear with white sides/soles - or at least provide some darker gray, brown or black alternatives for those of us who prefer less flash and more practicality!! :)

I walked in rain in the morning, a foggy mist in the afternoon, and blowing snow in the evening- an Upper Michigan spring day! My feet stayed warm and dry each time thanks to my Bean hiking boots. I wore them with ordinary athletic socks. I have a medium, slightly wider foot and these boots fit comfortably. The laces tighten well, stay in place for a supportive feel. Very comfy footbed that feels like I have a spring to my step.

I have been on the perpetual hunt for the perfect hiking boot for about 6 years now. I've tried on every brand and style known to exist. I even bought what I hoped would be a winning shoe about 5 years ago after an exhaustive search. I have had nothing but blisters and sore feet every time I hike. Fast forward to this winter when I finally decided to replace that pair ahead of this summer hiking season, as we plan to do some pretty intense hiking. I loved this new updated L.L.Bean hiker from the first time I saw it. It is reminiscent of the classic leather hiker with the red laces, only updated for 2021. I read all the reviews online and followed the recommendations to order my actual size. I ordered only one pair in my actual size, and they fit like a glove right out of the box. I've been breaking them in on shorter walks, and they are just a dream. I'm a very picky gal when it comes to footwear and comfort, having spent endless hours working on my feet for many years. These actually have an arch support which lands in the right place on my foot. They are attractive, classic, and more comfortable than I ever thought I could expect from a hiking shoe. I am considering ordering a second pair to keep on hand for the future, I love them so much!!

right out the box these felt nice with no " break in period". I have neuropathy in my feet from diabetes and have an awful time finding good comfortable shoes. I usually wear a 9 but feared the toe box would be too tight and hurt my feet , so I ordered 1/2 size up. these fit so well I didn't need to size up that 1/2. They are a tad big for me but I have no issues what so ever with them. I will order my reg size next time.

I walk a lot and these boots saved my feet! Last week I walked 80 miles on the Erie Canal path. I have bad arthritis in my big toes and the stiffness of these soles and leather keep my toes from bending to much. And when I read that they needed no break in I took them at their word and walked 12miles first wear. So comfortable for all of us with foot issues.

I need a lot of ankle support when hiking and these are perfect. I don't roll my ankle in them, and when I start to, the support of the boot stops it from rolling too far and getting injured. They are very light to wear as well. I've worn them on several big hikes in NH with some rock slides and they have had good grip. I normally wear a size 8 or sometimes a 7.5, but I had to go down to a 7 in these and that is with wool socks, so I'd recommend to size down at least half a size. I have a med-wide foot and a bunion on one foot, and these are still comfortable and accommodating. I have been very happy with them so far!

I bought these after reading all the other posts and they were right - they did not need to be broken in, I have taken them out 2x now - waterproof, comfy. My son also bought them and he thinks they are great also.

I bought a half size larger to wear heavy socks and they are perfect. The material around the ankle is very supportive and yet does not rub or irritate. They are perfect for hiking and walking around rough terrain. I love them!

I wore these right out of the box. I have been hiking up and down and all around the blue ridge parkway trails and the Appalachian Trail. These are comfy, so comfy I don't even think about my feet. Totally waterproof; I don't hesitate to cross mud, streams, whatever! Love, love, love!

Since the pandemic I have been walking 7-9 miles daily. Even though I was wearing my LL Bean walking shoes my toes were hurting. I bought these because the toe had a hard shell so would not hit toe nails. They are the most comfortable shoe! No more sore toes! I read all the reviews that said no break in needed and they were right, I walked 9 mi right out of the box.

Super comfortable boots right when I put them on. No breaking in time and can hike miles in them! Sized perfectly. I usually where an 8 in dress shoes and 8.5 in sneakers/athletic/boots and 8.5 is perfect.
Unlike another review, I really like the contrast off-white bottoms to these. Makes the boot more interesting looking than a standard brown hiker. Leather and craftsmanship is excellent quality; what one would expect from LLBean!. This one does not disappoint!
