I purchased the black boot with the smooth finish that I prefer. I needed an LL Bean shoe horn to get the boot on; I guess LL Bean doesn't provide these any longer. It's a good thing I have several because the boots weren't easy to pull on even with the tab. I wore the boot once for a day and it will need a little bit of "breaking in" though. The boot did not irritate. I have to wear thin socks because average soft,comfy winter socks won't fit.

These are super cute! Priced well and feel as thought they will last a long time. My only complaint is that the leather is so stiff when you first put on. They do mold to foot after wearing for about 20 minutes. Would love if LL Bean had used a softer suede. Am considering taking to getting them stretched a bit.

This boot is comfortable and waterproof while being stylish. I bought these boots to wear in the Winter with my jean mini skirts and skinny jeans. These boots keep my feet warm and dry.

I usually wear a 7- but often need to size up to an 8 because I have a wide foot. So few shoes offer sizes in Wide, so I size up in the B offerings. The comments about this boot made me even more wary as to the fit for a wide foot, so I sized up even more to 8. This boot is well made and the leather is smooth and supple. It goes on easily for me, despite my high arch.The boot itself is a little long since my actual size is 7- or 8. However width-wise it is perfect in the 8-1/2 I ordered. Am not feeling any arch support though. As for padding in the sole, there's not much, but the boot has been comfortable for me. Possibly an insert could remedy that issue. I may give one of the commercially available ones a try, but for me they often make the shoe too snug. For now I am just happy that this boot works for my width issue. I would recommend this boot with the reservations I listed.

these were cute and seemed well made; however, they are too narrow, as are most ll bean shoes for me (except for hiking boots, those are amazing). they did not feel as though they would give very much either. returned them and am still looking for a replacement option.

I love, love, loved these boots. I have the Stonington loafer and I've worn them nearly everyday since I got them and that's why I purchased the boot. I got the boot in black and they are stunning. Sadly, I have a high instep and I had a very hard time getting the boot on, in part because they are just a bit high. A zipper would help alot. Once on, they were lovely, but I also have large-ish legs so my legs filled up the opening with no wiggle room. I had to return them. If you have thin legs and a regular instep I bet these boots would be just the ticket.

I need to wear impact shoes, like hikers and running shoes, on a daily basis. But those aren't cute. Saw these and hoped the promise was true but it's not. The sole is rubber, a lot like a DrMartin. It's a beautiful boot, but there's no room inside for an insole so these need to go back. They might have been a bit tall too and dug into the shin a bit which, after a full day, might have been problematic.

I was looking for a flat black winter boot that I could dress up or down and this boot does both! I'm in between a 7.5 and 8. I tried on a 7.5 at the outlet store and was way too tight with my toes close to the end. I order the 8 online and was a little tight around the top at first but has loosened up with wear.

Comfortable boot with style. I can walk all day in them like I do sneakers. Only con for me specifically is yesterday I wore them (just got them last week so not broken in) with low socks and had my jeans cuffed up around the top with a little ankle showing and walking around the sides really rubbed my skin. If I have tall dress/sport socks on, that is not a concern. I do have very sensitive skin though. Highly recommend

I really like these boots but they run small. I wear a size 8 & bought size 8. I wish I had purchased 8.5. There is no way that I'll be able to wear thicker socks with these. A thin trouser sock will be ok. I'm hoping the boots break in well. Black leather is very nice. Tread on bottom is good too, no slipping on wet sidewalks. Overall, I recommend these boots but encourage others to go up 1/2 size.

I love the look of the boots and that they are durable leather. One issue I had was that they are pretty stiff and are going to take a while to break in without rubbing blisters on my feet. I ordered both the black ones and the brown. The black boots have way more give and are more comfortable. They are pretty much broken in after a couple weeks worth of wearing them.

I am very happy with these chelsea boots; I omitted the 5th star because of the fit. I am a solid size 7, and these are a bit big...don't know if I'd want to size down a half-size, they are okay with thick socks, though still roomy. All that said, I still love them and wear them whenever I can. I waterproof sprayed the boots and they look like new after two weeks of wet Alaska fall wear. They seem to be well made; I love the leather lining, and am hoping they last a long time!

These shoes are a little tricky to pull on and feel a little tight at first but quickly become really comfortable. They are quiet, comfortable, stylish and give my feet good support. I also like that they are real leather and have no buckles, zippers or any metal decor. I wear them with wool hiking socks and call them a "hug for my feet". I would recommend them.

The boot is made well and looks amazing. I wanted to love them but they are extremely difficult to walk in. They wore me out and I only wore them once for a short period of time.

I really wanted to like these because a slip on boot is what I am looking for and they were on sale but honestly they looked like I had clown shoes on. Quality was great though. Returmed them.

These were Cute boots, but they were too tight. I couldn't imagine they would stretch out enough to fit eventually.

Unfortunately I had to return these cute boots as they were too tight through the toes.

It was just not comfortable for my feet I am on my feet a lot and I need some comfortable supportive shoes and they did not fit the bill

These are handsome but when I put them on, instantly it became evident there was very little support in these boots. Shame that it would be a missing part of an otherwise nice design.

Nice looking boots but no arch support whatsoever. They do run on the small side for shoe size as well as width. I did keep them as I got them on sale and used some of my bean bucks.

I returned these boots as the top was too tight to pull on or slide into to. Was looking for a pull on work boot since my hands are quite often muddy. I'm sure they are great boots though.

I ordered these in December of last year. I generally take a 6.5 wide fit but went up to a size 7 wide based on reviews, which was the right decision- they are slightly too long but I suspect the next size down would have been too tight across the toe box, especially with winter socks. At first they felt suuuuuper tight but within a week or so they softened up and were fine. Unfortunately, I just don't think this is a very well-made boot. I have a very regular arch but there is no support at all in them. I wear them pretty much every day, but I work in an office and commute by car, so I am not that tough on footwear, and after a couple of months of wear the footbed is really compressed and no longer provides any cushioning. After a full day of wearing them my lower legs ache, which is a good sign they are too flat. The smooth-grain leather is nice aesthetically, but it shows every bump and abrasion. Due to the wear I assume I will not be able to return them, but they will not make it to another winter.

Very cute and appeared well made. Very stiff and uncomfortable on the top of my foot/ankle. Disappointed they didn't work for me.

Hard to put on. Needed a shoe horn. Size is accurate but need shoe easebto soften.
