Unfortunately, I had to return these boots. They seem very well-made, but they are extremely stiff around the ankles. The foot part was very comfortable, but the ankles hurt. I couldn't walk around in them for more than 10 steps in my house, no less wear them outside on a hike or a snow-shoe.

I ordered these in wide. I could barely fit my foot into them. Definitely not wide. Other than that, quality was good

I bought this waterproof boot because I already own the ventilated Trail Model 4 hiking shoe, and they are THE MOST COMFORTABLE hiking shoe I own. I look for wide boots to accomodate bunions. I highly recommend the ventilated version of this boot, but these were way to tight and hurt my feet.

I ordered wide and they are not wide at all, rather too tight and they are being returned.

Returning them. Very stiff and uncomfortable. I want a shoe or boot to feel "aaaah" when I put it on. These were the complete opposite.

Nice shoe but the wide was not that much different than the regular width boot.

Did not work for me. I wore them for a day and found the ankle area to be very uncomfortable for me. I don't believe it is an issue with the boot, I have thick ankles. This style apparently does not fit well for my body type. I will be returning them this week.

I wish I had seen the reviews before purchasing- not even water repellent. I have leather boots that protect my feet from damp grass any day. Even on boot dryer they take all day to dry out once soaked.

Normally I love LL Bean boots, but these boots are the most uncomfortable hiking boots I have ever purchased. I thought they would improve once broken in, but they remain awful. There really isn't enough room for one's toes to fit if you wear good socks, and not in terms of the width or length but the space between the sole and top of the shoe. My leg is pushed forward by the exaggerated slant at the heel and the thick padding at the top of the shoe. I have not had blisters in years, but these shoes give me blisters even on moderate hikes. I really wish I had returned the boots immediately.

So I bought these despite reading reviews that the boot is too high and digs into back of legs. My mistake, don't make the same. I love LL Bean products, they usually get it right. However the structure of these boots are wrong. Visually appealing. Very comfortable, standing still. But on a hike, going downhill, they don't bend with you, similar to walking in ski boots. After toughing through my typical hike, the back of my legs were very sore. Upon taking the boots off at home, they left giant red Mark's on my legs. Keep looking! These aren't the boot. I'll have to keep wearing my old ones.

These boots have absolutely no padding around your ankles. They are very stiff!! I have owned many pairs of Merrels and never had this problem! Very uncomfortable.

I found these boots to be very uncomfortable. The too thick padding around the top rubbed my legs and the boots did not have much of an arch support. I am sending them back because I am unable to wear them and be comfortable.

I love the look and fit of this boot but could not walk in them without every step hurting my legs around the top. I wanted a higher boot for the extra ankle support, but these were so stiff even after days of wearing with no sign of them breaking in. I called customer support before returning them to get advice on having a shoe maker break them in hoping that would help. I was told to return them as they should be comfortable right off the bat. I sadly did return them.

I bought these boots for a field research job in Colorado. I was told they were waterproof and comfortable, and at first this seemed true. HOWEVER. They took weeks to break in and gave me the worst blisters of my life. Like I am talking penny-sized blisters. Despite being advertised as waterproof, these boots would get soaked through every. single. time I wore them into the field. Even if it was from the dew on the plants! I also do a lot of hiking, ranging from trails to full mountains, and between 3-15 miles. Anything over 3 miles on a flat path would give me even MORE blisters, despite going through the extreme pains of breaking these in. If you are a serious hiker, or have an outdoors job (or both like me) then DO NOT get these boots. Oh, and they smell and take forever to dry out. I'm talking multiple days. Even though they should be, ya know, waterproof. I will be returning these to LL Bean and never trusting a "waterproof" product from them again. Thanks for the grossest feet I have ever had in my life!!

Darn it...just got an email announcing this great new waterproof hiker and, sure enough, it's another torture device: crushingly low on the instep and forefoot, and shaved off across the outside of the toe box, so there's no room to spread your toes. Why make women's footwear like this? It's unhealthy, and we don't need to make a pointy-toed fashion statement on the trail. Bean's shoes and boots for men are a bit more reasonable, but they don't come small enough for me. I'll keep hoping for Bean shoe designers to come to their senses, or for a sale that discounts a comfortable pair of Keens.

I've tried two pairs of these boots because I love the fit but my feet get soaked walking on a grassy trail. These are definitely not waterproof. I returned one pair figuring it was defective but the second pair is just as bad. I let customer service know and asked if others complained. They didn't answer that question but said I could return these which I will. They also said it could be my cotton socks wicking in the moisture but that's definitely not it.

I ordered these to replace my old Bean hiking boots. I was so sad that the wide wasn't as wide as my old ones. Had to return. I ordered the men's version hoping that would work. The men's D was narrower than the Woman's wide. So, one more time I tried. Ordered the Men's E, it was narrower than the Men's D. Now I am on the hunt for something not Bean. Hope my old boots hold out till I find something.

I could not figure out what was smelling so bad in my closet. Then I discovered it was the shoes! I had not worn them anywhere yet. They have a very strong musty order to then so I had to leave them in my garage. They fit ok but are very stiff and have no arch support. They look good but I can see why they were on clearance.

I bought these shoes yesterday and will be exchanging them as soon as I can. I was super stoked trying these on in the store and walking around and I love the look. I didn't wear them long, just to my car, a walk around the yard and back to my house and I had an awful red mark above my right ankle and it hurt something awful. Only on my right ankle. Even a couple hours after the fact it is still uncomfortable without the boots on(my ankle). I would not recommend these boots to you if you feel any discomfort in the store, I thought that it'd go away or I would be able to break them in but the discomfort/pain just got worse and worse. Since I'd be wearing these to work (if I was keeping them) that just isn't acceptable. They needed to be good right out of the gate and these are not. It's too bad because the left boot was nearly perfect but the right wasn't. I know that someone else had the reviewed with the same issues with these boots and someone else with a similar imported boot also complained of this issue. I will be getting another pair, just never these, super disappointed.

The first pair I got was a size 7 and they were really long so I exchanged them for a 6.5 wide and they fit well. That was a while ago and time has passed so I can honestly say that the shoes are not comfortable. My feet start hurting especially in my left arch if I do longer than a 3 mile hike. I had a pair of hiking shoes before and loved them and wore them for years but sadly I have resigned these hiking shoes to easy hikes where I don't have to wear the shoes for too long. I used to think that I could get anything at LLBean and it would be reliable but this pair doesn't fit the bill.

I bought these because the description said that they were waterproof. They are not waterproof by any means. They may have been somewhat water resistant for the first week. I spend a lot of time walking through fields and hiking on dirt roads. The shoes are not acceptable for that. The morning dew on the grass will soak your feet completely through. I was trying to choose between these and. the regular bean boot. I should have ordered the bean boot. Very disappointed
