The shoes fit great and are comfortable. However, when I wore them this week for the first time, water (from rain and dew) went right through them and my feet were soaked most of the day. They are definitely NOT waterproorf, or there's a hole somewhere on them that I haven't seen.

I've had these boots for almost three weeks and have worn them in a few snow storms, on neighborhood non-snowy walks, and through the airport to and from Thanksgiving. I want to love them. They are stylish, I can wear them with jeans and they do fine. They are warm and waterproof, except when I shoveled snow into the boot once (whoops lol). My problem with them is that they rub my calves and heels no matter what type of sock I've worn. I've worn ankle no show sneaker socks, true hiking DarnTough socks, Eddie Bauer winter socks and they rub no mater what. They also crush my jean seams into my ankle bones but I always have that problem no matter what boot I'm wearing. I will be returning these to the store since my main goal was a winter boot I could walk in miles in.

I bought these to wear while working outside. Unfortunately, they are not waterproof as advertised. Other than that, very comfortable and excellent tread. I weed-eat in the morning before the temp's get too hot, but the morning dew soaked right through these and my socks were saturated. If you don't need a waterproof boot, I would recommend these.

Unfortunately I'll have to return these boots. After 2 weeks of wearing them around the house for several hours/day, they still haven't loosened up. I fear if I were to actually take a hike in them, I'd return with bunions the size of melons! I'm disappointed bec an earlier version of these in low-cut style fit perfectly...so the search for better fit continues

I wanted to love these. I got a 7 1/2 wide in the black and teal. Maybe I should have ordered a half size up, but these were so uncomfortable. They were too narrow even in the wide width and the ankle is so stiff and not very padded that my feet and ankles hurt after just a few minutes of walking around in my apartment. I'll be returning to the store and hope I can find something else that works before the 5 mile hike I have scheduled for this weekend. Hoping maybe I can find some Merrells - that's what my last pair were and they fit perfectly with no break in needed.

The boots I really liked and still wear, item 274540, are unfortunately discontinued. This item is its replacement. I ordered this boot twice, each time having to return as they were very narrow for me. First order was exact size of those I have now, second order a wide, with the same results. They may be great for some, just didn't work for me. Going to have to actually try on before I purchase a new pair of boots.

I am disappointed with the Trail model 4 hiking boot fit as I have had the original trail model and the trail model 2 hiking boots and these do not compare. Please bring back the trail model II hiking boots. It has great traction on wet rock, it has a higher stiff upper cuff with extra padding so it seems soft against your ankle and gives great ankle support. It also has three hooks and the third hook down from the top is what allows you to really hold your ankle/foot/heel in place and gives an adjustable fit. This fit I could not get with the Trail model 4 and because of the less padding in the model 4 on the upper cuff, it was very uncomfortable on my ankle bone. I hike 5 to 7 miles daily in the wood on uneven terrain and looking for another hiking boot built like the trail model II, but he model 4 just doesn't cut it.

The fit around the foot was good, but the ankle was really high and very stiff. It was hard to break in. After a long hike my ankle hurt a lot and I've been having a hard time wearing it since. Unfortunately I'll be returning this.

Ordered these to replace 10 year old Merrells that Bo purchased previously from LL Bean. Ordered the size 6. They were too tight across the toes with thin socks on. They were also extremely uncomfortable through the top that extends above the ankle. Worst hiking boots ever. Will find Merrells elsewhere. So disappointing.

This boot is great looking and with a comfortable foot bed, wide enough but, the cuff is very stiff and uncomfortable. I tried it for a few days inside but it did not soften up. Sad that it didn't work for me.

Plan a break in period. Maybe mine wasn't long enough? I'm not sure, but these actually bruised the area above my ankles on both feet. I do not recommend these under any circumstances

These were not wearable for me. Even though I ordered an entire full size above my street shoes, they still did not have adequate space for hiking socks and for normal foot expansion during hiking. Basically there was not enough height in the shoe, in addition to not being wide enough, even though I ordered a wide. I wear the Bean Cresta leather hiking boots in 7 wide. These boots in size 7 1/2 wide were nowhere close to big enough. My normal street shoe sizes between six and 6 1/2.

BAIT AND SWITCH COMPANY POLICY!!! Company uses deceptive advertising. Really bummed. On line it looked like an item was on sale but it turned out to be full price. Even the customer chat person thought that was wrong!

I love the look of these shoes and the price was very affordable, but they are not designed correctly. They come up too high on the back of the leg causing excruciating pain. Had to return them.

I was excited to wear these for the first time today and break them in for an upcoming trip. They hurt so bad that I actually took them off and walked barefoot on the trail. Stepping on things was less painful than these boots. So disappointed as they're good looking and the price was great. Thankful for LL Bean's return policy.

Barely qualify as wide width. The width of the bottom was sufficient but if the upper isn't also wide it defeats the purpose.

I bought boots in January and they fit well and were comfortable out of the box. Unfortunately in less than a month one of the lacing hooks pulled entirely out. I sent to boots back and ordered another pair and in less than a month a lacing hook pulled out of the second pair of boots.

The first leather cross section where the shoelace goes through broke my first hike in these boots. I was so excited about it too. In lots of other hiking boot brands they are metal so they seem much more durable, but maybe it was just the specific pair I ordered.

I love the look of this boot but your boots and shoes are always too tight on my feet. I wish you would consider adding extra wide widths for all your shoes and boots.

Not wide enough. I had tried 9 w in a store and they were wide enough but too long in the toe. Will have to return. Pity as they look so nice!

Sadly, these were not waterproof as advertised. I walked through wet grass on my hike and my socks were totally wet a short time into my hike. I returned them immediately.
