Overall nice looking shoe. True to size 7 for length. However, the design of this boot felt tied with uncomfortable pressure on top of my foot (above the arch of the foot).

While the fit seems good, I found this hiker very stiff and uncomfortable. I am hoping with time it will loosen up.

I ordered this shoe in a wide width and received a medium width, so I really do not know whether they fit true to size. Certainly the medium width did not work for my arthritic feet, but they may be true to size.

Bulky not flexible, Tongue will not lay flat = very annoying on front of ankle. They feel heavy & not flexible. I kept them thinking will break in But I've worn them 3 times & tongue still will not lay flat.

Not as sturdy as I wanted. I am trying to replace a pair of now-discontinued LL Bean hikers from 2014. My feet have gotten wider. Ordered these since they are one of the few styles that came in wide. Ended up returning them because they just aren't as sturdy as my 2014 hikers.

Thought I was purchasing a wide-width shoe but it was tight without hiking socks. Could have used more arch support as well.

They look a little bulky. I was hoping that they will have more of an arch and that the quality material will be a little bit better. I was comparing them to the ones I bought couple of years ago were quality was definitely higher but it is what it is. They are comfortable..

I was so excited to finally see a wide width hiking boot. I bought these and as soon as I put them on, they pinched in the toe box. I thought maybe it was just a breaking in period so I gave them a chance, but ultimately they needed to be returned.

The shoe portion fit well - but for those of us with thick legs (common amongst this size) the stiff backing would not give and ended up bruising my lower calves. For someone with thin legs/ankles, this would be an excellent option.

I ordered these adorable hiking books on May 26 and October 8 was the first day I wore them. I love the way they look. I love their reported durability. And I love fantasizing about the moderate trails at Cheekwood and Biltmore and the Great Smoky Mountains where I will be wearing them. Don't hike-shame me, please. This is all new to me and I'm starting light and slow. However, these boots hurt my ankles. Am I not used to wearing hiking boots? Yes, but I wear other booties. I unlaced the part around my leg and only tie them at shoe level now, but the back of the boot is hitting me in the wrong place, and it hurts and may even blister. I was wearing the wool hiking socks with them yesterday at Cheekwood, so today I'm wearing a thin, tennis sock to try them out. I don't want to disparage the boots, and I don't want to return them. I just need to know will they be more comfortable when they are more broken in? Am I wearing them correctly? Or have I chosen the wrong boot for me?

"Wide" is not wide enough. When will LL Bean make an extra-wide? I took a chance because the price was right and I have the shoe-version and like them a lot, but I'm not even sure that the wide on these qualifies as a wide, and it continues to be disappointing that LL Bean doesn't make an extra-wide for any of their hiking footwear. I'm not sure whether I will be able to wear these at all.

They are very nice and the wide width is fine, but they fit odd around the ankle. I think I may have to not tie them completly to leave more flexibility so they do not rub the back of the leg.

I ordered a size 7.5 wide. I usually wear a size 7 wide, or European 38. At times my foot feels a little sloppy in a wide sized 7.5 shoe. However i ordered a wide width and long shoe size to ensure accommodation of a bunion on my right foot. Since I will be hiking in these I knew that I would be wearing thick socks. The left boot was very snug/not really comfortable, but the right boot was definitely NOT for me. I saw misery ahead, so I returned. Also, I have a very high arch, and the arch support was minimal. I wanted the boots to fit seemingly very well constructedand good looking. Too bad

Unfortunately, the wide width wasn't wide enough for me. Also a very stiff boot.

Despite the good quality and unique colour I returned these as they seem to run quite small. 1/2 sizes not an option

Wanted to love these boots but they did not fit my scrawny low volume foot. Sadly, had to return them. The last is similar to an old pair of hikers from Bean that I rarely wear (only for chores/weeding) because there is too little support--even with added custom inserts.

Felt a full size smaller and seemed more like regular width instead of wide. Could not remove liner to add my orthotic inserts. Will be returning.

For the most part, these hikers are comfortable and definitely keep my feet warm. (I live in MN and need them for winter walking). Unfortunately, they are very stiff around the ankle and I have had to stop numerous times on my walks to try to stretch them out! I am going to have to work on somehow stretching these out to make them more comfortable.

Bought 8.5 wide, too narrow. Seems well-made, sturdy and lightweight, but never got past trying them on as they're too narrow. Unfortunately, most men's boots aren't made in short sizes so I thought I'd try this one.

The design of the shoes is very nice looking. I ordered a 8W. But the toe box was so tight that it didn't seem to be a wide. I had LL Bean Hiking Boot before and the fitting was OK. LL Bean must be changed its design. Very disappointing and I need to return this pair.
