My husband always wears a medium shirt size. All the shirts in his closet are mediums (they all fit), and quite a few of them are L.L. Bean flannel or similar plaids, which he loves. Be CAREFUL with this purchase. We had to send the shirt back because it was HUGE (we probably had to pay shipping...you don't know until L.L. Bean receives it and they decide). I noticed after the fact that others reviewed this shirt with the same message. Make sure you know the measurements of the shirt before you order. The sleeves fit fine but there was enough room in the torso part of the shirt that he could have fit another person in there with him. Paying for return shipping isn't cool when there's no indication of this common problem in the description of the shirt!

These shirts are thick and built to last on a giant that is twice the size of a normal human! I would definitely recommend ordering a size or two smaller than you would normally.

I ordered a Medium due to the fact that they consistently fit excellent from a wide variety of retailers. This shirt should be Label XLarge to XXLarge. I would love to see this item come out in an XSmall. If a Medium is this gargantuan there is no way a Small will work. The sizing chart even said 100% match, which is interesting considering the actual size. If I could magically go to a height/weight of 6'6" & 350 pounds this shirt would work. This shirt alone was my reason for coming to LL Bean. I don't even know anyone that this would fit without looking absolutely ridiculous. No one wears the ugly baggy n big styles of the 90s anymore. This is a joke. On top of that very other shirt in medium I ordered has no consistency with size. One of the other mediums is nearly too small or while the other is too Large. Don't use the sizing option from this website unless you are capable of growing and shrinking at will. Hope this help :)

This shirt sizing is terrible. The sleeve size on a tall is maybe 1/2" longer than a regular. That won't work for someone with long arms ! And LL Bean must assume that if you are tall that you weigh 300 lbs. I am 6'2" average weight and the shirt is too wide by about 5". Returning. Pronto,

I purchased this item over the years and the one I purchased 3 years ago is falling apart. Both sleeves developed holes in them. The fabric is just not like it used to be. It shouldn't develop holes when just wearing it around the house. Ever since the Lifetime quality warranty was dropped, the products are just not the same.

I have 4 of these plaid shirts - one pictured here, the bright brown-orange-etc one has at least 4 patches of worn out cloth & bad seams. I can't wear it out in public, only around the house - the other ones have all been without flaw!

This shirt is waaaaaayyyyy to big. I typically wear XXL but this is ridiculously huge. I can button it over my down parka. Do not waste the $6.50 you will spend returning it. LL Bean quality is gone.

I wish this flannel was sized correctly, the fabric feels amazing. But, it's ridiculously large, as mentioned by a bunch of other people here. It's at least two sizes too big. Now I have to spend money to return it, and go through the hassle of going to the post office. I wish LL Bean made this process a little easier (and cheaper), especially because it's pretty clear that their sizing is completely off.

I'm a true Large Tall size, both with other brands and with LL Bean. This shirt is comically huge. The sleeves were a good length but the body extended down almost past my finger tips with my arms held against my sides. I've never seen a shirt this long before. Even if I were to wash it in warm water and dry it all the way to shrink it, the body would still be too long and the arms would then be too short. I think the pattern is off for Tall sizes on this one. Other LL Bean LTs have fit just fine.

I have been buying/wearing these Chamois shirts for nearly 40 years and the shirt I received must have been mislabeled from the vendor who LL Bean contracted with. I wear a XL and the shirt that I received fit me like it was an XXXL. Way too big. So I returned it and will limit my purchases from LL Bean in the future because of their poor quality control.

This shirt is at least one size larger than stated. It's a tent.
In addition, after 3 washes on gentle cycle the fabric has started to pillnothing like the fabric that good old chamois shirts that Bean used to sell. Sad to see quality has dropped so much.

Did not even have my husband try these shirts on to check the fit ( got the red & the blue plaid), nor did I bother to wash them. A good quality plaid should have the plaids matched, but they are not on these shirts--neither the side seams nor pocket flaps. These shirts may be made with good quality fabric, but if the plaids are not matched, then I could not possibly keep them, because I would always notice the mismatched pattern and that would bother me every time my husband wore them. It is much cheaper not to match plaids and that speaks poorly of LLBean to charge $60.00 for plaid shirts that are not even matched. Also, my husband would prefer plain pockets with no flaps. On a positive note--he likes that the bottom is straight across and not a shirttail style ( because it is a heavier fabric, he does not tuck it in like he does with other shirts, but layers over a shirt like a jacket).

My husband loved this shirt until he put it on. I ordered LT, Large Tall, for the length of the sleeves but sadly they were too short. I will be returning this shirt. I have ordered LT from other companies and the sleeves have been longer.

I admittedly am picky about fit of shirts I buy. I rolled the dice on this one and got burned! This Medium fits me as most XLs do, which is a size i never wear. Waaayyy too long on the torso!!! And sleeves too long as well. Baggy overall. See for yourself in my photos. I do have an athletic build so maybe if you're on the portly side it might work for you. But for me this one is like wearing a frickin' smock. I don't tuck in button down shirts. But if I were to tuck it ,I don't know how it wouldn't feel like wearing a diaper, there's some much material to jam into your pants. Uggh. What a waste of $6.50 return shipping.

I love the look of the shirt, but when I tried it on in my home, it was way too long. The tails came almost down to my knees. Usually your mediums fit me very very well. It is too bad as I liked the pattern and feel, but I will have to return it.

I purchased the Chamois Shirt in Plaid and Solid color (TC277981 & TC187923 respectively). Upon receiving these items, the plaid shirt was a noticeably inferior quality, particularly in the weight of the material compared to the solid shirt. The plaid shirt states "Made in El Salvador" whereas the solid is "Made in Nicaragua." Refer to photo.
I contacted customer service, along with Problem and Research at L.L. Bean and they confirmed their system states both shirts should be made in Nicaragua. The representatives stated the only option I had was to accept the shirt, or to send it back as a return ($6.50).

The shirt is very large. I own a significant amount of LLBean products- all medium. My wife likes it when i wear slightly oversized items thought this was much too large. Very disappointed that an exchange for size would incur a $6.50 shipping charge as this part of a ship free purchase.. The shirt itself- construction and color were great.

I use to love Bean's shirts for my husband. It was all he use to wear...until the last three I purchased. Two of them ripped out in the elbows after just a few wearings and another black and white check that was written up as being a chamois was some kind of woven material that just fell apart. I just tossed out the last shirt that was a fall color plaid along with the blue/green one. He is still trying to get some use out of the black and white one holes and all. I haven't purchased another shirt since. I am going with another company instead. Too bad because we use to love these. The older shirts are still going strong.
What happened Bean?

My husband already has several XL reg chamois shirts from LL Bean. Liked the plaid so ordered this one. When he tried it on, it was definitely NOT true to size. The shoulders were ok, but it was inches longer than the others that he has, so looked ridiculous.

It's lovely flannel and a nice pattern. However, I ordered a Large, got a shirt labeled "Large", but it was extra-extra-extra-extra large. Andre the Giant would be lost inside this shirt. You could wrap this thing around the Good Year blimp. But for the sleeves getting in the way you could use it as a blanket on a queen-size bed. Clearly the sizing on these things is way out of whack and not trustworthy. I'm returning mine.

I would give 0 stars if it was an option, for fit and customer service. It seems LLBean shirts are designed for giants. Way too long in the body, unless you want to be wearing a tunic. Very disappointing and will be returning and NOT ordering a replacement.
