We have gotten LL Bean shirts in the past - love the quality and fit. Some were medium-tall, and some were large-regular. It seems the size varies with the type of shirt. Our first order of this shirt was a medium-tall. It was returned for being too long, but fit well across the shoulders and chest, and sleeve length. Then we went with the large-regular. That one was just too big overall and also returned. Our last order was for a medium-regular. This one finally fits comfortably.

This has been my husband's favorite shirt for years. I purchased one for his Christmas present. The center front measurement is 1.75 inches longer that his old one so the front tail hung halfway to his knees. I had to cut it off and re-hem it. And the sleeves are a little longer. He still loves it for winter. I wonder if the new front length is to accommodate men with big bellies?

Intended giftee usually wears a mens medium, but this shirt was too generously cut in both torso and arms. Cuffs extended to fingers. Nice material. Trying a small instead.

Purchased two of these as gifts for my husband about 2 years ago. He wears them primarily on weekends in fall and winter months. He liked the colors, the fit, and the soft fabric.
Unfortunately, one of the elbows on one shirt developed a hole from wear, something I wouldn't have expected after just a couple seasons. He applied an iron-on patch to the inside of the shirt, but another hole developed around the patches. The second shirt seems to be holding up.
For that reason, I gave it this item 4 stars instead of 5. Until this happened, I would have enthusiastically recommended, but now I would be hesitant. It's disappointing.

It's more an overcoat than a shirt!

This shirt was thicker than I thought it would be. Very soft and comfortable! The only negative is that the collar is not buttoned down. Great fit!

This shirt was described as chamois. It has the texture of a fairly heavy flannel shirt. Not what I expected for a chamois shirt. Other than that, it is a nice shirt. Good fit, seems well-made.

Size is fine except too long in body probably could use somewhat fitted/slimmer

I'm a big Bean fan, with several purchases this year alone. Owned one of these shirts in medium for years. They're great and long lasting. I always fit in a medium, Not this time. This latest purchase fits more like a robe. Now I have to either pay to exchange it or drive the 100 mile round trip to the closest LLBean store. When the sizing is this off, the customer shouldn't have to pay for exchanges or returns, period.

I just called customer service to confirm the item I purchased was a regular and not a tall. It is 33" from neck to bottom and goes to the middle of my thighs. I look like a doofus wearing this! I LOVE the feel of the cloth and the color (Apple Cinammon), but will have to pay someone to get it hemmed. It is just too long. Perhaps you can have a Tall, Regular and Short size in the future?

I love this shirt; bought one several years ago. I have a problem with casual shirts; to get a fit through my chest and around my middle I need an extra large. But, these shirts both had to be altered to shorten the sleeves. Even with that short coming, pun intended, they are great shirts. Two pockets provide a place to carry my phone opposite of my pace maker.

I have purchased five of these shirts and depending on the pattern and color the weight feel and size varies from shirt to shirt hence the four star review. Why that is I cannot say. I washed and dried each shirt pretty much the same way. One shirt began to wear prematurely around the edges of the cuff and collar. One shirt shrank a full size after washing one time, sending that one back. And one shirt that I purchased the same time as another chamois shirt has less weight after the same number of washings. The best shirt of the five is the Apple Cinnamon. It has held up very well.

This is a high-quality item. My husband's shirt size is a 'M', so I got a 'L' for this item because it is more like an over-shirt/jacket, lined and could be layered. It is large on him, so he will have to 'heavy-layer' under it. (He needs a Tall because of his arm length, not height.) If he does not layer-up, it is too large. A 'M' would be too small though.

I had to return a large size I got for Christmas to exchange for a Medium. I wear a large with some manufacturers and medium with some. It seems that Bean is pretty consistently a medium for me. I wear a 42 suit jacket, if that helps. I am not a big fan of the colors in this plaid, but it was a gift and it is ok. Very thick and warm.

Ordered a Tall Medium since a previous chamois shirt fit nicely but this years version was huge. Returned for exchange.

I bought this shirt for my son who is VERY particular about his clothes. He loved the shirt. Only problem was that it shrunk in the sleeves so I sent it back for a larger size. In all the reviews that I read I couldn't find anywhere that said it would shrink a little. I'm hoping the larger one will do the trick.jmkcalifcooli

The LL Bean Chamois shirt remains one of their best products. Good value for the money (especially on sale...). The shirt is of good quality and is good for early spring, fall, or winter wear. I believe the country of origin for the product has changed throughout the years resulting in a slightly thinner flannel, but the quality is still good. I've got seven or eight of the chamois shirts over the past two decades.

My husband wanted a warm shirt to add to his wardrobe and in my opinion L.L.Bean flannel shirts can't be beat. For the most part, this shirt proved that. My only disappointment is in its size. My husband normally wears a men's small, but he was swimming in this one. It did shrink quite a bit after the first washing, so the extra inches served a purpose, but it still works better as more of a jacket. If you are have a slim build, you may want to consider one of the other styles that comes on slim fit. Still, this is a very nice shirt.

This is a very thick, warm shirt. However, as with most llbean shirts, they are over sized. In order to shrink it, I washed it in hot water and dried it in a dryer on HIGH heat, which shrank it so that it now fits. Also wish the pockets did not have a flap on top, because I like to put my smart phone in the extra pocket.

My husband says this is the most comfortable shirt he's ever owned. I only gave it four stars because of the odd sizing. He usually wears either an XL or an XXL. I ordered the smaller size bc that's what his other LL Bean shirt, and it was still HUGE on him when it came in. We washed it in hot water and immediately dried it on high heat, and it shrunk enough to be wearable. However, I wish that LL Bean would size all of their clothes similarly.

Love everything about this shirt, other than the fit through the body. Great colors, soft fabric, the sleeves and the length are perfect, but the body is way too boxy. Wish there were a slim guy option

I love this shirt but feel a bit like the 3 bears. I have long arms and usually get 35-36 length sleeves. The Large Long feels like I'm in a tent, When I move down to the Medium long the sleeves are correct but it feels a little snug.
