I wear a six 9 in casual shoes, but always size up for running/hiking shoes, so I ordered a six 9.5 in these boots, and they fit well. I hike about 4.5 to 5.5 miles 3 days a week in hills that have both dirt and sections of beach sand. I have plantar fasciitis (under control with orthotics and heel cushions) and sciatica (under control for the most part). I wanted a hiking boot for ankle support when I hike, but I also need a cushiony sole. These boots rubbed my ankles a little bit on the first hike, but they haven't caused blisters, and they seemed to be fine on the second and third hikes. One word of caution: these boots add some extra weight, so if you like to hike at a very fast pace like I do, they might slow you down just a little bit. Otherwise, I like the materials and the color, and think they will take me on many more hikes.

I already had worn two pair of HOKA's daily. I am equally pleased with the KAHA 2 GTX. The fit was similar but the additional ankle support provided much needed comfort after having foot surgery. I am looking forward to wearing these for daily walks on easy to medium terrain.

I am a 51 year old active woman whom has had surgery from the same broken ankle three times in my life. This has left me with pain in my ankle with EVERY hiking boot I have owned. Whether it be pressure from the boot, rubbing in the wrong spot, toe numbness or just plain not enough support. I was a bit shocked at the register when I bought these hiking boots for Zion this year. Although, it has been worth the sticker price!!! Let me just tell youI have never experienced a better fit with zero pain after several difficult hikes. On multiple different types of terrain. We did the narrows twice within three days. The constant angles of big rocks and different angles of my ankle weren't even a thought at the time. These hikers were amazing with the water submersion and the constant push for control and comfort. I would recommend these to anyone who had ankle problems and needs that extra support!

After wearing high heels for 40 years the ball of my foot hurts easily and I like hiking and, most hiking shoes have a hard sole even inside. This product from Hoka is a life saver so far (a hike saver). Would buy a second pair in a flash if I could get a deal.

I think there was a pressure point from the grommet that was pressing on my ankles. All 3 Hoka models I tried did this. I couldn't imagine hiking all day in this. I then went to REI and tried 4 other brands, none of which hurt my ankles, but also none of which had the same cushiony footbed of a Hoka. Alas, since I needed a boot for hiking, I had to go with a non-Hoka brand.

I've put these boots through their paces on rocks, hard packed dirt trails, mud & paved roads. They performed well. However took some time for them to become comfortable around ankles. I agree with other reviewers that upgrading tongue should happen. Bought my regular size (8), found them to be long & wide enough for sock liner & med weight wool socks - in other words runs big , not quite 1/2 size in length. After 28 days of constant use I'm confident they'll serve me well on a long distance trek.

This is easily the most comfortable hiking boot I have worn. It's great for hiking in the woods or walking my dogs on snow covered sidewalks. I have hip issues and this shoe is so comfortable. I think it is a great boot for ideal conditions. If there is measurable snow, I've found the snow makes it's way in though the low back heel or some of the spaces near the tongue, so you'd almost have to wear gaiters if going on longer hikes in even low level snow. I also think the tongue is too short. If you tie them all the way to the top, the laces leave the tongue and rest on hour leg.

Good support in the ankle area and very comfortable. I did not have to break these in at all, comfortable from day one. I have wide feet and I was a bit concerned but it's been no problem.

I train border collies and compete in herding trials with them. Weather is often unpredictable and I used to wear muck boots. Your boots are lighter and more comfortable to wear all day. I will say they have gotten a bit narrower at the toe box over the years but still wearable. The foot shaped toe was one thing that drew me to your shoes. Don't change that, please.

The biggest plus for me is I usually cannot wear high top shoes because they cause shin pain. I have walked about 15 miles in these high top boots so far no pain. I am so excited because my ankle has a tendency to give out on me. Excellent pair of hiking boots!

Good fit, and very comfortable, but the higher tops made them a little bulky for me. The laces are long and untie fairly easily.

These boots are great for the conditions of my winter - lots of wet sloppy snow and icy arctic cold. The boot waterproof, has a wide enough toe box for a heavier sock that keeps my toes warm to -10F when hiking and as long as I am moving. (Though, I doubt they would stay warm if I was ice fishing or some other cold weather, outdoor activity where I'm standing around or sitting). I would be happy to see this boot come in a wide with for high instep and wider foot like mine so I could wear a super heavy sock. I do wear cramp-ons with them on slick icy trails. Arch support is good. Heal cushion is great. Lightweight and great for hiking year-round from -10F to +65F. I haven't tried them out in warmer weather.

It took a day or so to get my feet comfortable in these. Right out of the box, they were wonderfully cushioned and very nice, but I immediately went on a 4-hour winter hike up into the mountains, with cleats over my new footwear, and my feet hurt just a bit when I was done. But after that, no problems at all, even after a 12-mile hike. Very comfortable, I even like wearing them indoors, and such a relief to find a hiking boot that doesn't irritate my achilles. I'm so happy. Only tiny complaint: a touch of thinsulate would make these a bit warmer in winter. But not a big deal.

Love that the boot is waterproof; however, I recommend that Hoka consider making this boot in a wide.

I bought these for hiking. Although, had they come in a wide, that would have been better for me, I went up a half size and they are pretty good. (The fit on the Altra Olympus 5 hiking boot is better for me as was the HOKA Challenger boot that came in a wide and was my all time favorite but is no longer made). They are really waterproof and we're great during a surprise downpour on a long hike. The biggest downside is that there is no ribbon or loop on the tongue to lace through to keep the tongue in place and it tends to slip to one side. That should be an easy fix for HOKA since the earlier model had a great ribbon. Otherwise they have good cushioning and are reasonably comfortable out of the box

I bought these for a December trip to Iceland and was mainly looking for great support, comfort, and water resistance. We hiked uneven terrain with multiple inclines, rode horses, went ATVing, and walked around a city. All around great shoe! I have a severe pronation and my feet did not hurt the entire 10 days. We also crossed several shallow rivers and I was impressed that these shoes held up to being waterproof. The only thing I wasn't pleased with is how my feet slid forward with big toes experiencing slight discomfort when hiking down a mountain with a steep grade, but also partially my fault for not stopping to adjust the laceswas tired and didn't want to lose momentum. I still give the boot 5 stars.

Love the boots except that the tongue should be a little longer because the laces where tied tend to slip over the tongue which is irritating otherwise they would be perfect for me.

I've owned these boots before and loved them. I had to wait an entire year to replace my old ones, due to shipping problems, but it's well worth the wait. I can count on my Hoka's for comfort and stability.

I have been very disappointed in hoka products lately. They seem to have decided to make all toe boxes narrower. I used to love my hokas! The kaha was the most comfortable hiking boot I had ever worn. The new model crunches and irritates my toes. I'm finding a similar problem with the sneakers as well.. I wish hoka would go back to their original design! Bring back the Clifton 6 and the old style kaha!!!
