This is my favorite footwear of all time; it is, without question, the most comfortable sneaker/shoe I have ever worn. This is my third goaround for the Trail Model Hiker 4 Waterproof. I wear them for everything, but dress-up events.

I owned the boot version of this hiking shoe for many years and much hiking. I have purchased a similar product as a lighter shoe I am older and can't hike as much due to being a cancer survivor. I still walk over a mile each day and am very satisfied with the comfort and quality of LL Bean shoes. Thanks

Perfect shoe for my uses. Fit well if size increased half a size for my arthritic toe.

I have been buying these shoes for my husband for years. He has a really wide foot and is hard to fit because of a very high arch. Only shoe he can wear for 10+ hours a day, every day.

My scrond pair. They run a tad small so I ordered one size larger. Comfortable light hiking and still waterproof after years and many miles.

I bought this a month ago ... nice shoe. This is not a lightweight hiker but a quite sturdy, protective shoe. I can see why folks would say it is small or tight but I'd say snug. I am recovering from back surgery and stubbornly going for walks most days of the week. My legs are weaker than before and I am often pretty unsteady, thus I fall occasionally. When I was wearing lighter shoes (sneakers, slip-ons) my feet would twist and I'd pull muscles and have some pretty ugly bruises. Since I've been wearing these guys, my twisted, bruised toes are stories of the past.

I have both colors.High quality and no break in needed. The waterproofing is excellent.
If they came in more colors,I would purchase more.

Great traction. Super comfy. Normally an 11, which didn't fit. Happened to try an 11W and perfect!

This shoe is extremely well made and the sole is sturdy for support, which is much more advantageous than a lighter shoe that falls apart or is flimsy. The interior is comfortable and consistent. I would encourage multiple color schemes rather than the 2 alternatives I saw.

This is probably the best outdoor or indoor walking shoe that I have ever owned.
In the outdoors these shoes provide great traction on all terrain from roads to trails to back country hiking, over rocks and soggy areas (as long as the soggy area doesn't exceed the top of the shoe).
When working at outside at home whether cutting grass or doing whatever needs to be done they're great! These hiking shoes are good all four seasons and in the Finger Lakes of NY we have all four seasons.
This current pair isn't the first time I purchased them. I have been using them for many, many years and haven't found a better pair of shoes. The fit, for me, is perfect!

Pros:
- Breathable; this is more important than ever since so many hiking shoes have Goretex lining which makes for a constant wet environment within such shoes
- Available in wide sizes. Extra toe box room; great fit for real feet
- Durable; I hike 2 x week performing trail maintenance on a rocky and steep hill. Shoes are still going strong after many hundreds of miles of use
- reasonably price compared to shoes of other makers
- grippy sole; very good on steep rock slabs; not ultimate grip but they do the job. I also own a pair of 10-year old 5.10 Camp IV approach shoes that are even grippier than the model four from LLB.
Overall I am very satisfied; although the shoe styling is definitely for the older crowd. Ive chosen function over form since they work so well. I have a brand new spare set sitting in a box, ready for when my current pair finally give out. Please do not ever discontinue this shoe or I might cry.
I have provided photos to show what repeated abuse can do, yet still the shoes carry on.

Perfect right out of the box. I bought these shoes to take on a walking tour of Ireland. I wore them for 2 weeks before the trip. No need to break them in. I buy all my clothes and footwear from LL Bean because it is always good. From dress shirts to hunting boots. Do it

These hikers are just what I was looking for! More foot support than an average sneaker and built tough.
