I ordered my usual size, but the shoe was too small.

I returned mine. Too tight. Squished toes. Nice looking shoe.

Over the years I've always been happy with these hikers because they checked all the boxes for me especially in the comfort department. Not sure what changed, I've always wore a 10 1/2 wide but the EEs are way more narrow than they were in the past. Maybe they were marked wrong in the factory or something. After trying everything to break them in and get some stretch out of them, I'm giving up.

These shoes were supposed to be EE, but were very narrow and extremely uncomfortable, so I had to return them. I've had good luck with lighter-weight LL Bean shoes and with the "snow sneaker" boots in the past, so this was a disappointment.

These were for my husband. He has a wide foot (4E) and a high instep. These claimed to be wide but they were not at all wide. I tried them on and they were tight on me and I don't have a wide foot. Otherwise the shoe looked well made but had to return them.

supposed to be a wide EE width--not so. Didn't fit at all!

I am a size 12 shoe in all the other shoes I wear. These shoes were so short that I could feel my toes against the shoe before I even stood up. Much too small.

The sides and soles of these shoes are still as stiff as plywood. Even after wearing them for an extended period of time they have no flex or "give" as most shoes acquire. I don't recommend them and wish I had returned my pair for a refund.

after reading other reviews, decided I needed to order the wide shoes, even though other regular size LL Bean shoes fit fine. But these were way too narrow as well. Seemed like nice shoes, but I needed to return these.

This boot is definitely not the width advertised. I usually wear a D. Due to some reviews, I decided to order the EE. I was able to get my foot in, but the shoe was extremely tight and would not have worked for me. I can't comment on the quality of the materials, because I packed it back up within 5 minutes of trying it on. This boot was disappointing, because I used to wear LL Bean hiking boots all the time, and they fit well and wore well. I won't order an LL bean boot again, unless they go back to the last that they used to have.

I owned a pair of GTXs for 21 years, not the same pair of course. I wore them daily. I called the GTX's SUVs for your feet. These shoes carried me around the globe from London to the Mekong Delta, two tours in Afghanistan and three years in Iraq and on every continent except two. These shoes never failed me once. Out of the box, I could depend on these shoes to go from the box to trail. The Men's Trail 4s are an unworthy successor, at best they are your grandfather's shoes for a day at a theme park. Though priced at nearly the same price point as the GTX, as soon as I opened the box it was obvious that the shoes are not nearly the quality of the GTXs. I almost returned them straight away, But I trusted Bean's reputation. This was a mistake. Just wearing these shoes around town I found them to be unsupportive, uncomfortable, and the material is of lesser quality than the GTXs. I then unexpectedly had to spend two months wearing these shoes daily, standing for a 12 hours a day for a little over a week. If I could have, I would have burned these shoes in a fire. I then spent another month+ wearing these shoes daily but standing and sitting at normal ratio. The only positive about these shoes was that at least I was not barefoot.

Bought this for my husband, who has wide feet. The wide was still too narrow. They also were stiff.

This shoe is an LL Bean brand. I would think that they could get the sizing right. I always wear a size 11 shoe. Good shoes have standard sizing. In the past, I have bought shoes from LL Bean and they fit correctly. These Trail Model Hiker shoes are a complete disaster.- too narrow and too small. I would have returned them, but I wore them for a day. I will never buy a pair of shoes online from LL Bean in the future. You need to try them on.

I like the shoes but regular size is actually too narrow for me. I received a replacement pair due to stitching coming out and it still happened. I am just living with the flaw.

I ended up needing a full size larger than I always wear. The first time I wore them on wet mowed grass both shoes leaked and I returned them. I can't remember ever returning shoes, jackets, sweatshirts, shirts, pants, boots, hats that I bought from Beans in the last twenty years.

Returned because they reeked of mildew. Apparently, this problem has been going on for some time, but the company keeps sending them out to its customers.

Length of shoe is just fine. It is so tight across the top of the foot as to be painful to wear after a few minutes, and I have a very small foot for a man. The shoes also has a heavy and clunky feel. A very regrettable purchase.

I wear wide shoes. These shoes were so tight they compressed my feet almost curving them in the shoe. I've tried breaking them in to no avail.

Leaked from day 1. Could not tell the difference from this shoe and my regular tennis shoe.
