I have been wearing the ventilated model of this shoe for a year and love it. This waterproof model, same size, is very tight, stiff, and uncomfortable. Returning it.

To start off with, I am a big L.L.Bean supporter and that hasn't changed, however I am very disappointed with this particular purchase. While the materials and construction seem to be good quality, this is probably the most uncomfortable pair of shoes I've owned. they are extremely rigid and dig into my ankles and achilles from all angles and over the year I have owned them they have not softened at all. I love the look and the style of this shoe but unfortunately just cannot get past the discomfort. Would love to see a redesign to solve this issue!

Very comfortable. Second pair that I've bought. But very unhappy with this pair, stitching on the toe is already coming apart after a month of wearing them.

Bought 2 different models to test out. This was my preference based on looks and brand reputation, but the heel in the back was taller than a 'normal' show and VERY stiff, Rubbed against the back of my Achilles tendon and caused blisters on both feet. This may not happen to others with different shaped feet, so otherwise this may be a great shoe. Zappos' fantastic return program made it easy as well.

Purchased these in 2018. Worn only in fall & winter, I expected at least 5 years of wear. Like another buyer's comment, one shoe's upper material started to separate Material inside the heel wore out. This did not happen to other shoe????
Wish they lasted better as they're comfortable but defects compromise the waterproof claim.

The shoes are beautiful, but the material is so stiff I found the shoes extremely difficult to put on and when I had one on my left foot it was painful to the top of my foot (not sure what that part is called) so I returned them.

I have been buying these shoes for years and this most recent pair has been absolutely brutal on my feet. Same size I have always ordered but something changed with the production and the toe box has become smaller than before. My toes are now jammed in the shoe and im not having much luck stretching them out. Very disappointed, I use to love these shoes but now that they changed im going to have to look elsewhere.

Looks good, but fits short. Always wears a 9.5 wide, but would definitely need a 10 wide. Had to wait until potentially March 2022 to exchange them so opted to cancel and request refund and will find something else sooner than that.

I ordered the wide version of this boot. It was supposed to be an EE. There's absolutely no way this was a wide shoe. I've been very happy with L.L.Bean's hiking boots in the past, but this just isn't the width that's claimed. I usually wear an E, so this should have been fine. My toes were crunched and I couldn't even wear them long enough to try to break them in. I won't order these again.

Shoes were supposed to be Wides, but even with thinner socks, the toe bed is too narrow. Went for a hike yesterday, and every downhill slope was painful. I think I have to give up on these shoes. They haven't stretched out, and it doesn't look like they will.

seems like a good shoe and seems like it would be good for hiking, but it was too narrow. I have wide feet, and have ordered wide from Bean's before and it fit well. But this one, despite the EE width was too narrow. Had to return it. disappointing.

Fit was a bit narrow. Main problem was the sides of the shoe near the tongue. They dug into the sides of my feet right away. Tried not lacing the top hole, still constant pressure. Would have ordered wide, but not in stock. Appears to be discontinued by the company that makes them. I had Merrills for years, but quality has gone way down so wanted to try a different brand.

Way too tight for their size. Only choices are too narrow and too wide. Had to return them.

The shoe was very narrow and not wide like they say it was. I found the shoe to be squeezing on the sides and they hurt the bottoms of my feet.

Size runs small. Wear size 14W and was way too small. Had to pay to return the item that was not manufactured properly.

These shoes did not meet industry standards for size or consistency to be mail ordered. I would only recommend purchase at a store were you can try multiple combinations of size and width. The area of the shoe opposite the large toe was not at the normal angle so toes were to tight. They had the look and feel in quality expected from LL Bean, but manufacturer did not meet expectations. Normally I take a medium, the angle of the front of shoe was inaccurate and so the width was too narrow. The second pair were inconsistent with the first pair and the extra width was useless since the angle of the shoe wasn't consistent with human anatomy.

I purchased these about 10 months ago and wear them only for 2-3 mile walks. I haven't even worn them every day as I don't have the opportunity to walk daily. Unfortunately, they are already showing excessive wear in the lining on the inside. I have worn through the lining in a couple of spots and the seams are coming apart. The outside shows little sign of wear. They are comfortable and sturdy and would be perfect if the inside lining was better.

This is a good looking shoes, it fits well except when you walk the heel slips up and down. Never had this problem with other brands. Something really wrong with the design.

I got these in September of 2020 and immediately thought I would love these shoes. They fit true to sizing and look great and performed like I would expect an LL Bean product to perform. Fast forward to December 2020 and the inside of the back of the shoe opening is already showing major signs of wear. I've included a photo of the problem. I hoped that these shoes would last me a good long time, but it's not looking like it at this point. I would give these a much higher rating if they had not already shown the wear in just 3 months. Very disappointing.

Great shoe. I have two pair. Have had them for over two years now. Feel great and they are very sturdy. Only one problem. The laces will wear out and good luck trying to replacement. They forget to tell you they don't sell the replacement laces. Since these are specific color laces to each shoe any replacement you may find on line will look mismatched. So in reality the shoe will only last as long as the laces. Right now I have awful looking laces that get negative comments all day long. This is the first negative comment I have ever made about a Beanproduct.

Too stiff and too narrow at the toe. The illustration and description would lead to belief that the shoe would be flexible...not.

The sides of the shoe up near the last eyelet had a severe inward curvature that pinched inward on both sides of my foot...the shoes were painful to wear.
