Bought these to be my trail running shoes for 50K training. I was disappointed to discover the fit was too large. I only realized this when I ran in them. I normally wear Asics nimbus. If you are changing to Solomon from Asics, I'd suggest buying half a size smaller. As a casual shoe, they are very comfortable. I do not care for the lacing system, but thats just personal preference. They look neat.

The Ultra Glide (UG) really lives up to its name. This thing is a soft, easy shoe that can literally glide all day. Smooooove. However, I didn't find it secure enough for more technical trails. The fit is more roomy than most Salomon shoes I've worn. It's not sloppy, but definitely more room. I didn't feel like I could bomb down technical trails in it w/o risking rolling my ankle. But wow, I would definitely use this on non-technical trails for 50 miles or more without hesitation. Good Contagrip outsole gave me enough traction on dry and wet rocks. I didn't run thru a river in it, but there's a lot of material in the upper so I'm guessing it would take a while to dry. Really solid shoe. Just imho, use it for its intended purpose.

The fit my feet perfectly. Love the quick lace too! My only issue is it didn't handle the rocky and technical part of my race too well.

These shoes are incredibly soft and definitely have "maximal" cushioning, and that's likely the first thing you will notice putting them on. In addition to this they are incredibly lightweight and the wide variant has a wide enough toe box to accommodate wider feet. The main downside though is the durability of the outsole. While the shoe is designed around being soft and comfortable, I worry that it will quickly lose traction over time as just after 20 miles I am already seeing major scuffs and cuts in the lugs from hiking and light jogging in rocky trails. Definitely best for dirt/softer trails.

I've owned many Salomon shoes over the years and they have always fit me well...one of the reasons being a reasonably generous toe box. Before buying the Ultra Glide I read many reviews talking about being a good shoe for slightly wider feet, so I bought them. Out of the box the shoes were very tight and stiff, which should have been a clue for me...but I wore them around the house a bit and they seemed to loosen up. I've since worn them on a couple of 5 mile hikes, and after this time I can reiterate that these are really nicely made runners, but if you think they have a generous toe box you will be disappointed. While they have loosened a bit so they are wearable, they are clearly not as generous in the toe box as other salomons I have owned. Even my OC trail shoes, after feeling narrow at first, seem more generous in the toe box now. So while I'd recommend these shoes, I'd only do so if you do not need a generous toe box. I'd say they are average in this regard. In terms of length, I would say they are generous, but that didn't help me.

Get durable shoe, unique shoelace which is easy to adjust the hard to store the loose ends. I like to fit which is narrow enough to be safe on bad side angled trails or off trail and wide enough to keep my sandal wearing feet happen. For reference I run 15 to 30 mi on trail a week. Plus hike wants to choice a week for 5 to 10 miles. And I also backpack in them.

I really have enjoyed the ultra glide. My main, and only complaint is the lace garage. You have to be strategic when you're tightening the laces to be able to tuck the laces in. Other than that, great shoe, great deal and they look SWEET

I got these because my mail carrier highly recommended them! This model seems to run pretty long and somewhat narrow. No heel slip and my foot was secured. I landscape in trail runners for most of the season and while I really liked them the 6mm drop wasn't high enough for me and made my achilles tendonitis flare up within 2 days. The insole was kinda a joke and felt cheap and thin and the midsole cushion was firmer and less spring compared to the react foam I've grown to love. The outsole seemed to grip well for me mowing and trimming on very steep wet hillsides in the morning. I may have to look into the higher drop speed cross 6 gtx. I gave these to my employee and he loves them so there you go. One thing, I've asked customer service where certain models are made and they can't really tell you if they are shipped. Apparently different sizes of the same model are made in china, vietnam, etc. So if this is important to you buy them at a shop and look at the tags.

Quicklaces don't get tight enough. Hurt my fingers trying. You don't sell color matching regular laces.

Shoe feels really good. Materials are light and breathe very well. Traction is amazing. I am usually standard 12.5, which is what I had ordered and they feels a little big. If I had to reorder I'd go with a 12.

I have wide feet at the toes. These shoes fit well. Potentially a little narrow at the arch. The laces work well but you can not secure the tab in the pocket. I have run about 100km on them and the sole has significant creasing already. Good fit and finish. They look great. I love running in them.

I can't believe how much I like these shoes. The width is perfect, the foam is a fantastic combination of responsiveness, cushyness, while still being able to feel the the trail.

I've never had luck with Salomon's fitting my feet right, but thought I'd try this style. I bought one pair and finally! zero hot spots or blisters - I was so happy that I got a second- pair. Then, I went on a rainy run and the insoles crumpled under my toes on the steep downhills. They're perfect when it's dry, but definitely lacking in wet conditions...which is a reality of most trail races. Glad it happened on a training run rather than during a race.

Very small break in period, great grip and durability, comfortable upper and lovely midsole! The lockdown can be tricky, the shoe isn't great on technical trails in the PNW, but those are my only two issues. I highly recommend this shoe if you have wide feet like myself.

I had been waiting ages to get myself some trail running shoes. I am on my second pair of Salomon Ultra Wide Gor-tex hiking shoes and first pair of the Ultra Wide mids. I've liked them so much that I decided to try these trail runners. I have only had them 2 weeks and only used on 3 runs. I do like them, they are wide enough, the grip on the trail is good, I did a quick 7.5 mile trail with about 2k elevation gain and they worked really well and my feet, ankles and knees feel great after the run. I have found a few issues to be aware of. First, the sizing. I wear size 11 wides, I was advised by a customer rep to go a half size down (10.5) for trail runners. I decided to go with the 11s anyway and there is a "good" thumb width from my big toe to the front of the shoe. I like that space for the downhills but it makes these shoes a little longer than what I am used to. Secondly, and possibly a sizing issue, there is a lot of gap between the shoe and my ankle - like way worse than any other shoe and I collect needles, rocks and sticks as soon as I start out. Thirdly, when needles get into the shoe, the fabric used in the lining and padding around the ankle collects the needles and they get stuck in the fabric and its a time consuming task to pick them out. Other than that I absolutely love the feel of the shoe and how it performs. So much so that I am trying to resolve the gap around my ankle.

I've run over hundred trail miles in these now and they have been very comfortable. As soon as I was out in the rain though, the insoles start shifting forward and folding up inside the shoes! I noticed they aren't the usual Ortholite insoles, maybe that's it? Now they need to be replaced which is really annoying.

After wearing Sense Rides 2s and 3s for several years, and then not really loving the 4th edition, I turned to the Ultra Glide for my daily trail-to-road running shoe. The added cushioning is a great addition, and so I find it much more comfortable than the Sense Ride for road or harder surfaces. Equally, I've found no real diminished performance off-road, and (for the first few hundred miles) they've stood up to all the wet, boggy, slippery, surfaces that Scotland has thrown at me. The only thing that makes me hesitate over giving these shoes five stars is the question of its durability. I've got about 330 miles on my current pair, and some of the lugs have completely worn down to the point that I haven't been completely confident in their grip during some trail descents; for comparison, I've got a pair of Sense Rides that still have more robust treads after more than 500 miles. The comfort is great, so I *think* I'd buy another pair of these, but I am wary about their longevity.

I have about 60 miles on my shoes at the time of writing this. My use is almost entirely on trail, except for maybe 4 miles. I got these because I was suffering from bad shin splints on longer runs. I haven't had any issues or pain since then. My rating is mostly for comfort, but they're also quite stable and have great traction.

I can't explain it the shoe just doesn't agree with my foot... Size and support were weird. Keep in mind i am a bit of a newb so I'm still feeling out what works for me.

So for starters...for me the Ultra Pro is the best trail shoe....But we are not here for that. The Ultra Glide is a decent shoe..cushy to all get out...the traction is decent but lacks in extreme conditions...I've noticed the insole does slip when wet..which is a reality in the mtns of Washington....prolly done about 300-400 miles OK my 1st pair...with a 2nd pair in waiting..and I'm still waiting for the Ultra Pros to come back! But overall would recommend and will buy again!!

If you told me this was Salomon's first "max" cushion shoe I wouldn't believe it. They nailed it in my opinion! I've run up to 60 miles in a go in these shoes and my feet had absolutely no issues in the 11 hours I was in my feet. I struggle with ankle stability in cushioned shoes and it has kept me away from them in the technical trails. Thankfully Salomon has saved me with this issue and the ankle stability is honestly one of the best when it comes to a shoe with somewhat of a stack height.

The ultra glide has held up really well on muddy and slippery terrain. The shoe feels great on the longer runs. The only downside I experienced was pain on the upper right side of my foot from the shoe lace eyelet.

I bought these for a 165mi stage race where I had to carry all my own gear. I wanted a shoe that had good cushion but wasn't so soft that it would collapse under extra weight and long daily miles. These shoes came recommended from a friend and I'm glad I bought them. They worked perfectly. No issues! The stability and cushion got me through to the finish in record time.

Good shoe. Be aware that while the description says there is Profeel film (“rock plate”) there is not. There is a slightly firmer foam in the forefoot. But having run in numerous Salomons in the past, I miss this protection. Not a deal breaker by any means but not as protective as it could (and should) have been. Zappos please update the description so that it is accurate!
