The new Ultra Glides are a game changer. Right out of the box I took them on a 10 mile trail run and noticed that they felt much different than other Salomon offerings. The fit is exactly what I like in a shoe I plan on running all day in - secure through the heel with no slippage, but definitely more room in the toe box than Salomon historically provides. The cushioning is ample without being sloppy. I feel like I can still run fast and have the responsiveness I enjoy from other Salomon models but don't have to worry about the cushioning not holding up to runs 50-100 miles. Previously, I enjoyed the Ultra/Pro as my go-to 100 mile shoe, but going forward, this will be my choice. I have run in them for about 300 miles at this point and think they've only gotten more comfortable. I have only run during hotter weather so cannot speak to warmth, but they have appropriate venting and don't allow my feet to get hot. The outsole is appropriate for low-to-mid-technical trails but in the mud or snow, I'd likely pick a shoe with a little more aggressive traction. I wear a 12, and it fits true to size. I'll be buying a second pair to stash in case my size isn't offered when I need another pair.

This shoe was perfect for the last 50 miles of Wasatch 100. Handles downhill, flats, climbs, and preserves the foot by reducing impact.

I've had these for about a month and they are the only shoe I've grabbed on my way out the door since they arrived. I have a long low volume foot and dig the fit, like I do w/ all of my Salomon shoes. Was a little worried the toe box wasn't quite wide enough for long runs but no problems yet. I expected the shoe to feel a little slow to turn over but they are a fun and agile shoe. No really technical terrain yet but I've enjoyed them on miles of single track around Montana.

These run very small. I am a ten and could not get the original size 10s on my feet. These in size 11s were perfect. I began running with them immediately and with no break in period they are comfortable and feel great. Highly recommend!

I stalked the site waiting for stock to come in! I just knew these would be like the sense ride and a hoka had a baby. And they are!! Literally, what all the hype was about. A little wider toe box than the sense ride and for sure compared to the speedcross. I just wore them on a 45.5 mile run across the Pictured Rocks lakeshore trail, and the only issue I had was that I had to keep dumping out sand. But I'm pretty sure it would happen in ANY type of shoe! Just need to wear gaiters next time lol
Lots of cushion for your feet. I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about this eyelet because, I don't have that problem AT ALL! Before the first pair even arrived I needed up ordering a second pair because I just knew I would love them and didn't want to risk not being able to get my size again. I'm super happy I did! These are for sure my new favorite!
Well done, Salomon!

Absolutely love the cushion, the drop, the squishy tongue and shorter lacing system.
These look dope on trail and even sicker unlaced at the pastry shop after.

I have been wanting try tthese for awhile. Finally got them. Normally with new shoes I will do a shorter run just in case. I did the opposite and a few extra K. I truly like the transition from heel to toe with the light rocker. The shoe felt secure and light. I am traing for the Marathon du Mont Blanc. I believe this will be the shoe!

Finally! Salomon made a shoe centered around cushion. And it's freakin' wonderful. How wonderful? I brought this shoe as my second shoe and backup to the S/LAB Ultra's for a week-long run-cation in Southern Colorado. I tried it out the first day out of the box and ended up wearing it every day after that. 65 miles and 23+k of vert later and it is now my go-to shoe.
Let's talk specifics. Just how cushy is it? Well I ran in Hoka Speedgoats for a while and liked them a lot. This made me forget about Speedgoats. I assumed Salomon's first foray into cushion would have some kinks, but they dethroned the kings of cushion with one shot. And they managed to do it while shaving weight off the Hoka's! HOW? The Speedlace system may not be for everyone, but it certainly beats out the amount of times I'd have to retie my Hoka's as well. Long story short, these things are so comfortable, I forget they are on my feet and I'm not sure there is higher praise for a shoe.
How about traction? Well it's pretty dang good. Is it going to grip wet rock? Probably not, but even my best rock climbing shoes can't really do that. It's not a super shoe. It did however handle just about everything I threw at it over the week. Loose gravel - check. Ball bearing scree - check. Dinner plater talus - check. Off-trail bushwacking - check. Solid scrambly rock - check. It's best on less techy trails, but held it's own on everything.
As for sizing, I felt what a lot of others are saying. They run a little bit larger if you are used to wearing the S/LAB line of shoes. For reference, my feet barely fit in size nine Pulsars and Sense 8's, they fit about perfectly in Ultra 3s, and these feel like they have just a bit more space than that. In most other brands I wear size nine as well. If you love you shoes to be super tight, maybe consider a half size down, but they run pretty true.
With that kind of cushion, they must be unstable right? Zero problems there. I've had some issues with ankle sprains in the past and went multiple times off trail and on super unpredictable surfaces without even so much as a close call. Not to mention they offer more protection than I'm used to in a trail runner. Seriously, a week of running above 12k feet in Colorado and all of my toenails are still intact. I'm not sure you could have put this through conditions more variable and rough than I did this week and it shined.
Okay so there must be SOMETHING that isn't awesome about it, right? Not really. The only thing I'm hoping for is that they come out with an S/LAB version with an S/LAB upper. I like the sock fit on the S/LAB stuff a bit more than the standard Salomon upper, but it's still super protective and comfortable.
Didn't read this whole thing, no worries. Here's the summary. 9.5/10. Salomon nailed it on it's first cushion-based shoe. I literally had to talk myself out of buying multiple pairs because I have shoes at home already that need to be used up first. If you were waiting for a plush shoe from Salomon, the time is now. Get it.

This shoe is pretty incredible. It is very comfortable, but I don't feel like I sacrificed much in the way of the feel of the ground. I rarely write gear reviews, but felt it was merited in this case. I have dabbled with Hoka and other brands but miss the detailed ground feel of Salomons. I just ran the CCC 100 km race this past week and the shoes did very well. Not so much as a single hot spot! I've been trail running for a long time, with Salomon pretty much for 20+ years at this point. This shoe is keeping me with them. Well done.

A max cushion show from Salomon? It's true, and it is really nice. This shoe feels lite and quick while at the same time maintaining the lock down feel that sets Salomon's apart from other shoes. I have run two 30+ mile mountain runs in these and they were very comfortable the entire time. With 90 miles on the shoes I feel like they are just becoming more soft and flexible.

I am usually against shoes with extra cushion but this shoe is my new go-to shoe for every single run. The cushion is amazing without losing the technical agility on the trail. Highly recommend.

The comfort of the Ultra-Glide is wonderful, especially with the increased cushioning and the larger toe box. The shoe is great on technical trails thanks to a nimble upper and a dynamic outer sole. It has been my go-to for comfort runs, long runs and multi-day adventures when I know that I want just one shoe for all conditions.

I absolutely love this shoe for distance. I initially thought it was too narrow but it's been perfect. I went a half size down based on reviews, as it's a long shoe, and didn't regret it.

This shoe is so great. It's the first really soft shoe that I've used from Salomon, and is great for running far without beating up the legs. Surprisingly, it also feels light, responsive, and grippy. Best all-around shoe I've ever ran in. Would be tentative to run anything really steep or technical in them though

It's been the best all around trail running shoe. Comfortable, but doesnt lack on fit and the grip. I had a pair last me about 400 miles until I wore down the grip, so its become my road shoe. Finally Salomon makes a comfy shoe! I dont have a wide forefoot, but the extra room in the toe box is probably nice for my ultras.

Out of the box these felt great on the trail, put 26 miles on them over the weekend and they were great. Just enough stability and a ton of comfort over easy trails. Going to be my starting shoes for a 50miler so hoping they hold up.
Fit was spot on, ordered my usually Salomon size and these have plenty of room. Feel like they have a bit more stability than the Sense 4.
Will say that the toe guard in the front started peeling slightly, but superglue can easily fix that.
Will be buying another pair when they're available.

The new Ultra Glide arrived on my doorstep two days ago. I've worn them around the house for one day before taking them out for their first run. First impressions - WOW!
Straight out of the box awesome.
So what do I like.
They might be Salomon's first venture into a softer, more cushioned trail shoe, but they have nailed it. It's soft, light, responsive but still fells stable. I took it both on and off road on a wet day and the grip was as good as my old Sense Ride's. The trail was gentle so I can't comment on how they would handle more technical terrain. They only have 10 miles in them so I can't comment on the durability.
I can say that first impressions are good. Lots of space in the toe box. My feet are slightly wider than average. I'm between an 8 to 8.5 (UK) depending on the Salomon model and I found the 8.5 to be the better fit. I did try the 8. I am a fan of the quick lace system and I found that they hold my feet securely in place. The heel is well padded and I did not get any heel rub.
So what don't I like.
Nothing really, except that they have sold out in nearly all sizes immediately and that they were not available a few weeks ago for the South Downs Way 100.
In conclusion.
I can definitely say that I will be buying a few more pairs when I can find them. Please don't change them up when you bring out the Ultra Glide version 2.

The upper fitted me true to size and shockingly the toe box has plenty of room, especially for a Salomon.
The upper is super light and breathable. There is a good amount of padding around the collar and the heel, which still feels superlight.
The Quicklace system works really well and gives a lovely midfoot lockdown with no heel slippage. The tongue has a nice amount of padding.
The midsole is the same as the Salomon Pulsar "Energy Surge" which is a huge plus. Just to note, it has 14mm more midsole in the heel and forefoot than the Pulsar!
The foam has a super lightweight and responsive feel. The performance of the midsole is just perfect for those long runs on trail or road and can easily be used for ultra races. I have used quite a few Salomon shoes and this is by far the best midsole I have run in from the Salomon line up.
The outsole is covered with Contagrip MA which for me, works great in all terrains.
This is the perfect shoe for long runs and ultra races. For the amount of midsole you're getting, they are super light, comfortable and responsive. Well done to the Salomon team for going out of their comfort zone. I believe they will be rewarded for this via sales and just appealing to a wider audience.
Suggestions for the Ultra Glide (2022) leave it as it is, sometimes you hit the jackpot on your first attempt. Don't spoil it please

I really like these shoes they are comfortable and race ready out of the box. Great grip and good fit. The only problem is the lace pocket is fully under the top row of laces. You have the choice to keep your lace as tight and not talk again or loose and talk again. But it's hard to do both. it makes you wonder how this ever made it past testing and quality control.

Great feeling shoes. I especially enjoy the elastic anchoring the tongue in place. The adjustment tab on the lacing system is a little clumsy try to press up and pull down at the same time. Nerve damage in my hand makes it difficult to use the adjustment clip also as it would with arthritic fingers, I imagine.
