This was an Xmas gift for my husband and when he tried it on he loved it!! It hasn't been too cold in NY yet this year but I have been a North Face customer and fan for years and have no doubt this jacket will keep my hubby warm!

It fits a little too big for me. I am 147 lbs, 5'11'' and got myself a size M. The sleeves are too long they reach the bottom of my fingers. If you want to layer up then buy a regular size you usually wear. If not, get a size down. Haven't worn it out because its too big. It's also not as warm as expected. Might return it and get a new one but i think the S is currently out of stock.

The coat was for my husband. It is very attractive and quite warm. Seems to be wind and water proof as advertised. Worth the money spent.
My only complaint is with whatever delivery service was chosen by the company. They delivered to a neighbor's house that I recognized from the delivery photo and I had to trek down the street before anyone stole it. When I complained through the shipping company they gave me an auto response saying it was delivered, end of story.
Love the coat but my experience with the shipping will make me think twice about ordering again from the website.

Good quality jacket. Bit large and design is worse than previous version.

The McMurdo Parka is a great buy for the buck. Super warm and lightweight. The coats run big so make sure to get your measurements.

Great coat, wish it was longer. Normally I'm a medium, but size is a bit big so had to take small.

It is missing the mesh lower inside stretch "pocket" it was flexible and held a ton. The hood is not detachable like the old one, and no elastic since cords on the inside to snug up the fit. Otherwise the cut is the same and there is a bit more down in it.

For any cold weather you can wear this parka. Stylish and functunal TNF knocked it out the park. I prefer it oversized so I picked a small. I'm 5'5" and it's perfect. I would recommend this to anyone.

A beautiful jacket, truly. However, the cord locks for the hood (1 each side) are situated on the inside of the hood right on your face. It's quite uncomfortable. If it weren't for the fact I had a large TNF credit and it's for around town not for extended outdoor use, that would be a deal breaker. I been hiking and mountaineering for 55 years. The position of these locks are about as bad a positioning as it gets.

I bought this for my son to wear during the frigid Alaska winter. It looks thicker than what we received, but roomy enough to wear layers. Not what we expected but sufficient.

You buy a parka like this because you know winter is coming. You want classic North Face good looks, but you need real-deal functionality in single digit New York winters. It keeps me warm, but I can only give this parka 3 stars for two annoying flaws.
The faux-fur strip on the hood is a snap-on design. The snaps are too far apart, which causes the fur to gap out from the rest of the hood which looks terrible AND obstructs my view. When snow builds up these gaps are even worse. The gaps also make it very easy to get caught on my hand, unsnapping from the rest of the hood completely.
I am tempted to take it to a tailor and have the thing sewn to the hood permanently.
The second flaw is the material used at the upper-most part of the throat where the zipper finishes. When you have to hide from the wind, these materials/the stitching and construction are not optimized for my comfort. It's rough and uncomfortable at my throat/beneath my chin. I wish they'd have paid a lot more attention to these two details. I realize I can just remove the fur strip, but the fur strip is what makes a parka like this look like such a classic.

Poor hood cinch placement as they scratch your face when the hood is up.
And fits really large so size down. 6 foot 190lbs and the medium is still on the large size. Good for layering I suppose.
Quality is decent but nothing special. Would only buy if on big sale.

I have the same jacket, but it's the old one with the pulldown mask to prevent the wind. This one doesn't have it. The old one is much warmer.

For the price and the quality it could be made better and a little bit warmer for a coat I still felt any drafts in this coat. I was kindly disappointment.

A bit disappointed in the quality and comfort touches that were present in my 15 year old North Face Parka that this one replaces. I now think that equal or better quality is available at the same or lesser price if I had looked around more

Great heavy duty jacket but it's missing the detachable faux fur piece for the hood otherwise I would give it 5 stars

The zipper is of poor quality and did not work. Returned my coat. My wife bought similar coat and the zipper malfunctioned. She was procrastinating and is wearing this coat without zipping up. North Face pay more attention to zipper, buttons and get the best quality.

I purchased this coat for a trip to Northern China where I needed to stay outdoors for long periods at a time at temperatures below -8 F. The coat is warm and comfortable and provides good fit for my large body frame. However, when function is more important than form it let me down multiple times. More specifically, simply trying to actually use the hood and adjust it to reach a balance between the fake fur not obstructing my vision and cover the head well enough to prevent wind from getting through, the hood would always come partially off. Needless to say that I had to take off the gloves, the coat and try to attach it again. At such temperatures it is not a very desirable situation to be in. Lesson learned. Next time I need to do some similar travels I will either buy a more suitable winter coat from local stores at a fraction of the cost or invest in winter gear that is tested for severe winter conditions.
