I've had to get used to how they feel on my feet because of the pitch which I'm not used to but they felt comfortable on the foot after wearing them for a full day I found that I had calf pain and I'm trying to get used to this hoping that it's just some thing that my body has to adjust to. I cannot wear them every day at this point

I own several pairs of Altra Lone Peak 6 & love their wide toe box & design that does not cause my heel to be elevated. i am so happy to have found out about this brand. I am not a hiker, wear Altra Lone Peak 6 daily. Unfortunately, the Altra LP Alpine (subject of this review) did not work out for me. I was tired at the end of the day & had minor shin splints. Since I already knew that Altra shoes are washable (in the washing machine), I washed them, let them air dry for about 24 hours, then donated them to Goodwill. I am posting this review to let everyone know that Altra shoes look great but do not all have a design that works out.

I received these 1day ago. I wore these shoes for about two hours in the house after receiving them. I wore them for approximately 5 to 6 hours today. The thread is already coming loose from one of the tongs, and the inside liner of both shoes is coming unglued near the edges. I will be returning these for a replacement. Very dissatisfied with this happening as this is my first pair of these shoes after having foot surgery and needed a wide toebox. Altta was recommended by my podiatrist that did surgery. The shoe feels great and is extremely comfortable. It is probably one of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I sure hope the replacement will not come apart.

These shoes fit and I enjoyed the wider toe box, but the grippy soles caused me to trip in my home, leading to stumbles and eventually a fall. I hope to find Altra shoes without this grippy sole.

I have really benefitted from wearing Escalantes around the house. They have eliminated lower back pain and foot pain. So I wanted to try an Altra shoe for wearing outdoors. The sock-like fit of the Escalante doesn't happen with the Alpine. It is stiff and clunky and hurts my ankles, so I've returned the shoes, and hope to find another style that works better for me.

I really wanted these to work. I have the Lone Pine trail shoe which I love and wanted something less sporty. The footbed is so comfortable and cushioned for my old feet. But as noted in another review, the width is noticeably wider and sloppy. And the heel is not as snug and hugging as my trail shoes. So too much play for me.

I bought these shoes a while ago. They had really bad heel slip, but I thought they were really cute. I figured I could use the heel lock holes, and they'd be fine. Then I realized that the heel lock holes AREN'T REAL. I had to use my own punch to make them real holes. Then I realized that the shoe laces were WAY too short to actually use the heel lock. Altra always has ridiculously short laces so that you have to buy longer laces if you use heel lock lacing (which a lot of runners do). These shoes, however, had the shortest laces of any Altra I've purchased. I have tried to find new laces, but every color I try just seems to clash. I had bought the pinkish colored shoe with the silvery-lilac laces. I just can't seem to find anything that works for these shoes. So, they're still sitting in my closet, incompletely unworn and without laces. I keep telling myself that *someday* I'll find some laces that work . . .

Had to send them back the same day after wearing them on the carpet. Pinch my right big toe and arch support hurts insides of my feet.

They made my knees and hips hurt terribly. Returned them but haven't heard back from Altra.

If you are a person who supinates- walks on the outside of the foot (wears down shoes on the outer edge and outer part of the heel) these are not the shoes for you! There seems to be lots of support on the inside of the shoe, which pitched my foot to the outside, resulting in more pronounced supination and all the issues related to this (painful calves, ankles, inner knees, plantar fasciitis...).
