Shoe is well made. The shoe sent was marked "Wide". The ordered width was Medium so this likely accounts for the fit being "untrue" to size.

Wonderfully comfortable, great support, perfect sole -- but too small. I have 3 Altras in size 11 that fit perfectly, but this one is 1/2 in. shorter. Size 12 available only in impractical pale.

Used for hiking trip. Was a bit sore in the calves due to zero drop sole, but overall happy with the purchase.

This is a very comfortable, casual shoe. It's advertised as a "lifestyle" shoe and that is exactly right. I wouldn't run or hike in it but it's great for every day. The upper over the toes is a medium weight, canvas type material. The shoe itself is very flexible. The laces stay tied. I wish the shoe was made with better materials to keep out the cold. The name "Alpine" is a misnomer. With heavy wool socks I might be able to wear these shoes to a limit of 35F. Maybe. Definitely not in snow or rain.

I love how comfy these shoes are right out of the box! I wanted a shoe that would second as a light hiker but wouldn't hurt my feet. The LP Alpine is very close to what I wanted but not very rugged. Definitely a tough knock around! Very comfortable and supportive on my arthritic feet but would love to see something more substantial from Altra for a light hiker.

I needed a wide and comfortable shoe for a trip with a lot of walking after a foot injury. This shoe was the widest I found, almost extra-wide, which served my purpose perfectly. They were comfortable but I felt it had no arch support whatsoever. I do have fallen arches, so that’s the place from where I speak. As a hiking shoe, it doesn’t seem like it would protect your foot at all. As an everyday on your feet shoe, it’s great. My husband said they are funny looking, but when you have foot pain, comfort will always beat out style.

I bought these for work, they're very comfortable and stylish. The soles have white flecks all over them, I don't know why. I ended up buying another pair of Altras for work because these are not nonslip. These will become my everyday shoes. Love Altras, these are good shoes.

Having problems w/ Capsulitis/Neuroma & cannot find shoes that don't hurt my toe. Going to Yosemite and need hiking shoes. I have a narrow foot and was skeptical about width. Laced them up with a runner's loop, comfortable and no heel slippage. Wore them right out of the box, went shopping for hours and NO pain! I can't wait to try them on a practice trail.

I have owned nearly 20 pairs of Altras over the past 8 years, and always a size 11. This is the first time an 11 has been both too long and too wide; the fabric bunches when I tighten the laces. Note, I have bunions and therefore a wide forefoot, but these are still too wide. I'm returning for a 10.5, which will fix the length problem, but width could still be an issue.

My feet tend to slide around in these. They're ok for going around town but I don't love wearing them on trips or when I have to really rely on my shoes.

I've had several pairs of altras in the past, liked them, and purchased this pair in the hopes of a versatile and slightly less "athleisure"-looking shoe. They fit well and were comfortable right out of the box. However, the leather and the fabric elements arrived in similar shades of grey, and over a few months the fabric has faded to a warm pinky-grey, while the leather held its stone grey color. The result looks kind of cheap and poorly-made. They also lost their spring after just a few months. Feels like Altra is cutting corners on construction. A shame, given the price tag.

I've worn several different Altra Torin 4.5 for years & decided to try LP Alpines. They look classy. However they are like a size too big - heal slips & so wide. Returning for something else.

They really did not hold up considering the price. I found that they caused my feet to collapse out. As much as I wanted to love these shoes. I will be trying other things.

This is the 2nd pair of Altras that I have purchased that fall apart in less than 1 year with moderate use. The top material by the toe is so cheap, holes appeared in both pairs. For a pricey shoe, i feel that is unacceptable.

I use these for everyday shoes and my walks. I had to return the Olympus 5s because they were not the same as the fantastic Olympus 4s. Not enough cushion ans are stiff. Bought the Lone Peaks with hope. I will keep them but they don't help my feet problems. I have Mortons neuroma and a ha.mer to. The old Olympus did the job.

Beautiful shoe but it's got way too much cushioning for a person who is used to and prefers minimalist shoes. The outsize cushioning makes the (needless) toe roll feel that much more pronounced. I don't trust that the thin canvas forefoot will hold up in looks or performance, either.

The bottom actually feels too thick, and feels clunky on my feet. The last two pairs I got of the lone Peak. Both had a terrible squeak, so I'm afraid I might go to another brand

I love how these look, but they have (or at least my pair has) a purely decorative eyelet at the top--no hole. But I really need that hole!

After reading the amazing reviews I was very hopeful this shoe would work out. Compared to the regular altra lone peak the materials felt very stiff and too bulky. The tongue was stiff and rubbed my foot - it hurt. It might be OK for a very wide foot with some break in time.
I'd also recommend:
Altra, Naot

These fit me perfectly, and were so comfortable out of the box. Was replacing an older pair of Altras that I wore into the ground. I was excited to find this style with more understated coloring - I don't love all the loud/sporty sneaker colors. But some of the stitching looked loose, and the materials didn't look sturdy. Seemed like they wouldn't last a year. I returned them because it didn't seem like the quality matched the price.

Disappointed that the photos show this shoe being black, but they are really a dusty grey.

I tried these because I love my Lone Peak 6s so much. However, I didn't prefer the footbed cushioning, the fabric or how the shoe bent while walking. The reviews are excellent, so I am unusual, but prefer the LPs. I returned this product.

I am grateful to Zappos for sending so many pairs for me to try on my cranky feet. Altra is not a brand I have tried before. They are too stiff for me with no sympathetic cushion. I’ve given up on cute which is good since these are not. Back to Topo for me.

Because of good reviews, I was hoping these would work as well for me but, alas, they're going back. There is so much room in the toe box, it offered no support for the front of my foot at all. If your foot is exactly the shape of these shoes, I bet they're amazing. But if you have a different shape, I can't see how it will work. Going back, thank you Zappos!

I haven't actually worn them yet as I'm not sure that the size will work. I have several pair of Altra shoes and these are the first ones that seem to big.
