I love Altra shoes! Zero Drop, Wide toe box! The best shoes I've ever worn. I'm a high school teacher, and wear them every day!

I primarily use this shoe for 5-7 mile runs and it has been great! I've owned a few pairs of Altra Escalantes (which I loved), but I think this shoe surpasses those! Have worn them for some 13+ mile runs and my feet and legs feel great!

These are my 4th pair of Torin runners and in my opinion the absolute best yet!!! I nearly passed up going to the 5 based on all the reviews saying how crummy the tongue is, but as I am retiring my Torin 4.5, there really was no real difference to me. Even my no-show socks come up high enough, so I don't feel anything that is being described. As for a runner, this is the best one yet. My foot has never felt more secure, heel stays put, and plenty of toe room (as one should expect). Before the Torin, I wasted hundreds of dollars on other shoes...but the Torin is my "ride or die"!!! Keep up the good work Altra!!

I love this shoe. I walked a lot the first day in them and it rubbed my left heel pretty good. But I haven't had any issues with it really since. I love the wide toe box! Comfortable, healthy, and stylish. Hoping it makes my bunions go away from years of too many bad shoes that squished my toes.

Overall these have been a lifesaver for my feet and being able to run. They do take some time to get used to with the zero drop, aka give your ankles time to adapt. The tongue could be a little softer.

After running 250 miles with this model I can report these shoes are perfect. Altra did an AMAZING job on creating the perfect shoe. Please don't change anything!

I ran in the 4.5 plush and had my reservations about the updates. They turned out to be misplaced. I live running in this shoe and haven't had any issues in the 50 miles I've run in it so far.
If you have concerns, go to your local shop and get fitted.

I ordered these shoes and then was surprised that there were several negative reviews concerning the tongue. I have found no such issue and I am putting 55 miles a week on the shoes. They are light and well cushioned. I have been wearing Altras for a while based on the toebox. I have been a distance runner for many years and my toes began rubbing so much that my running was critically threatened. Altra solved that problem and saved me. The Torin 5 are the best pair of Altras yet even considering the excellent Paradigm 6. These shows let you go very fast and are quite handsome.

I have been running in the Torin. The tongue of this one is an issue. Too firm. It's an easy fix though. I have two pairs of the Torin 5's. Still with the support and cushioning that I prefer.
Great all around shoe.

oowee, 1st pair of altra's and would def buy again. The tongue is still enough to hold the laces and entire tongue in place during long runs and sprints. 10/10 would buy again.

The Torin 5 feels like the perfect daily trainer, and fixes a lot of issues I had with the Torin 4.5 Plush and the Rivera. The fit is secure. The cushioning is protective and responsive, and the materials feel like they are built to last. Oh, they're pretty too. I really think this iteration of the ego max midsole is a keeper, so I hope to see it in models moving forward. One small note, stick to the roads with this shoe. I sometimes took previous iterations of the Torin on dry trails during mixed runs because the traction did well enough, but I found myself getting some foot fatigue on those same trails with this pair. Not a knock, just a note!

I have run in Altra Torin's for many years and the product generally improves with each new update. I read some of the reviews about the unusual shoe tongue. The tongue design has not presented any problems for me, though I do use socks that are slightly higher than the tongue. The shoe fit is perfect for me and I like the breath-ability of the upper mesh.

Great fit. I'm a big Lone Peak 4 (and now 5) fan and these (in Wide) seem to fit similarly. I normally wear a 9 or 9.5W (4E in "standard" brands) but the 10W fit me great. A lot of people are complaining about the tongue but I'm not sure why. The tongue itself feels like it's made of a stiffer material, but when I run in them I don't notice it at all. Maybe because I run in normal-thickness ankle socks, not ultra-thin no-show ones? Anyway, don't let the mediocre reviews sway you, the Torin 5s are a great road runner!

I've owned these shoes for a couples of weeks and have put maybe 50-60 miles on them so far. I was looking for a running shoe that had a normal width but with a wide toe box. I also needed a fair amount of padding, spring and arch support - comfort in all respects is the primary concern. The Torin 5 delivered. I'm very happy with these shoes so far and wish they had been available years ago. Many folks have complained about the tongue cutting into the ankle. I did not experience this problem at all - though I do tend to wear good socks.

There has been a lot of comments about the tongue. Especially if you wear below the ankle socks. I like this shoe for long runs so I just cut the tongue and you are good to go. I'm quite sure Altra will fix for the next revision. Take a look at my attached photo. You can see the piece of the tongue that I cut off and you can see the cut in my foot if you don't cut the top of the tongue off. As everyone probably already knows the top perimeter of the tongue is quite sharp. I recommend shoe with caveat.

I do not run. I have a metatarsalgia issue with both feet. This sneaker, with the addition of another insert, is helping. I was recommended this sneaker from a Pedorthic shoe store. They had me order a full-size up for two reasons - to accommodate the insert and to widen the ball of foot and toe area.
The fabric on top of the sneaker is thin and porous...it's made for running... not for people with foot problems. So, I do have to wear thick socks in the winter and be careful to avoid wet//moisture conditions - wet grass, puddles, etc.
All that said, they are helping my feet.

My experience was good, this was the first pair of Altras I have purchased for myself. I previously was wearing a cheap pair of sketchers with no more soles. I did notice the Altras sole have fall apart a little. I originally purchased this to get into running but it turned out to be a walking shoe for me. I did notice that my feet gained muscle if that's weird. I would definitely purchase again. Perfect shoes

If wearing low cut/below ankle socks the top edge of the tongue (which is sharp) will dig into the flesh, A padded perimeter at the top of the tongue may eliminate the issue. This shoe is flexible which eliminates stress on feet throughout a long run.

Awesome shoe. More support than other Altras I've owned (which I love and needed) and the regular width in this shoe is plenty wide for my wide feet. This is my go-to jogging shoe, and I bought another pair for knocking around town.

I bought these shoes to replace my on clouds. Much more comfortable, padded, wider in the toe box. No break in time, comfortable right out of the box. I will eventually replace the standard insert. I will probably purchase Altra's for my next pair as well. Very please with this shoe.

I've run in about eight different Alta products. I've liked them all, but had small issues either with fit, durability or the shoe aligning with my needs with each pair. The Torin appears to meet my desired balance for a padded zero rise road shoe that is light weight without being flimsy. Based on reveiws, both fit and durability were a concern. They felt great in the store so I took a shot on them. I was worried about the tongue, but never gave it another thought after the first run - zero issues. I'm now over 140 miles in them and can now address the durability. They're holding up as expected. I like zero rise and wide toe boxes so I'm drawn to Altra, but it's been a frustrating relationship not being able to get my needs just right in a single shoe. Now that I can speak to durability, I'd say this is my favorite Altra. I just ordered my second pair of Torin 5s I had to chime in addressing my five star experience with these shoes. Love 'em. Thank you.

Love it, it was a little exact /small to my foot size. If you want to get it, order half size bigger. I ordered 8, I would have been fine with a 8 1/2. Other than that, I love it, i run every day and it feels very confortable and light.
