I need tennis shoes for Pickleball. I have yet to find any that is well made and that fit. These are the best sneakers out there. I played in them 3 times and this is it for now. They feel so good and function so well that I am buying two more pair. I have female feet (what a joke, like our feet have a gender), but I wear Men's in this, size 42 is the same in men and women's shoes; when will shoe companies wake up.

The Wide Width Torin 5 is my new favorite Running shoe! Other brands make wide and double wide... but none actually fit human feet. These do. I cant wait until they are back in stock so I can order more:)

My first time trying Altras or the Torin. I'm a women's 10W in most shoes so wear a men's 8 in running shoes and have always had a good fit. The Torin 5 felt both a half size too short and much more narrow than I'm used to. The tongue, as others have mentioned is fairly rigid and thin and while it does rub on the front of my ankle it hasn't caused any issues

Surprisingly, for comfort this shoe in the blue wide is a much more comfortable shoes than those disastrous new Paradigm 6's. Can we get more wides in different color combinations? Don't mess this shoe up in the next version, please.

I really like these shoes. I was nervous about buying something new. I looked for weeks wanting to make the right choice. I like wide toe box. I have a narrow foot so I wasn’t sure if they would be too wide in the heel. But they fit perfectly. My toes can touch the end at times but not enough that I would get a bigger size. I saw a lot of complaints about the tongue being to sharp. It is sharp and rigid. But, it has not bothered me at all. I also like the zero drop and there is still plenty of cushion. I will definitely be buying more Torins and will probably buy the Line Peak as well for trails. Exceeded my cautious expectations.

I purchased these shoes to work in (sales manager at a dealership) last year. Within two weeks the green rubber pieces on the sole started to peel off. I called altra and they agreed to warranty the pair and to send them in for replacement. I sent the shoes in and It took over 10 weeks for the shoes to return. So basically i was without them all summer. I opened the new pair at the start of this summer, i have wore them three times to work and the same thing is happening to this pair. This is my first pair of Altra's and if they don't hold up any better than this, it is my last. Again, i'm not running or doing anything strenuous in these shoes at all.

I wear a size 9 in the Lone peak 5 but these Torin 5’s ran tight , so I went to a 9.5. Fit is nice and material is very comfortable I mainly use these for casual and walking on paved trails or roads. My wife talked me into trying Ultras a couple years ago and I couldn’t be happier , very lightweight and comfortable.

I was hesitant to buy because of all the reviews and because I tend toward minimalist shoes. However when I saw and tried them in the local shop, I was impressed. Now after I've done a fair amount of running in them including a long distance road race I'm even more impressed. The best road shoes I've ever had.
- The ride feels firm but protective and fun.
- Somehow I'm systematically faster in them than in my much lighter minimalist shoes, even on track doing 400s, which was a surprise.
- Tongue didn't cause any problem at all.
- They feel lighter than the stats say (and actually they are on my scales ~230-235 gm, size 8).
- Great on uphills and fantastic on steep paved downhills,.
- Width wise they are very comfortable on my wide feet.

Torin was my first entry into Altra running shoes and I've since owned several other styles. I went to the Escalantes for a year between the Torin 4.5 and 5. This shoe has just such an amazing feel, comfortable ride and cushion. I took a bit of a break in running for a couple months and the cushion on the Torins were exactly what I needed to start logging miles again. My only caution is to half size up on these relative to Escalate/racer, and lone peak. While I feel these are true to size, they run about a half size smaller than other Altras I've tried....may be due to the extra cushion in the heel. Like most running shoes, I usually half size up to make some room for swell.

I've now run a little more than 100 miles in the Torin 5 on a mix of pavement, gravel, and easy trails and I have enjoyed the shoe so much that I felt compelled to write this review when I saw how harsh many of the reviews were. I normally wear ankle socks (1/4 socks, whatever) and never even noticed the tongue. After reading the reviews I tried it with a no-show sock and it still didn't bother me. In conclusion, I would encourage people to at least try the Torin 5 and see if the tongue doesn't bother you either. Everything else about the shoe has been great. The cushion seems resilient, there is no upper wear after 100m, and the heel and midfoot are very secure while allowing plenty of room in the toe box.

I ordered this shoe before reading the reviews so I was VERY worried. I ended up needing a half size larger than usual, so I feel the shoe feels a bit under size. I'm a 3:19:00 marathoner, 60 to 80 mile per week, 2000 miles per year guy who prefers a neutral shoe in a small heel to toe drop (4mm or less). I have had zero issues with the tongue, which is what the reviews had me MOST worried about. I've now logged 113 miles on the Torin 5's and average run length is 8 miles, longest thus far was a 13.1 (in 1:33:02) and I simply LOVE the way this shoe feels. It's lightweight, has a soft ride, and breathes VERY nicely so my feet feel cool & breezy. The wear patterns have been as expected and I believe I will have no problem logging 500 miles in these shoes, based on the wear patterns I'm observing. I'm not sure how people are having such a horrible experience with the tongue....it contours to the front of my ankle just fine and I don't feel it or notice it, it certainly isn't chaffing me. I will be purchasing more of these and hope Altra doesn't change a thing.

Great distance running shoe, wouldn't buy anything else. I love the tongue of the shoe, low profile and comfortable. Puts me in the best position for low impact

I bought them yesterday and walked 7 miles to break them in. I just came back from a 6-mile run after being out for an injury and I've never run on better road shoes in my LIFE and I've been running since 4th grade (I'm 37 years old). This is my first Altra shoe and the toe box is what really does it for meroom for my toes to love naturally. My soggy knee felt secure the whole time, probably because I'm finally running on shoes that let my foot and toes do their natural thing. Let's see how they hold up as I rack up the miles. The tongue was not a problem but I use regular socks (not no-shows). Altra customer for life now.

I was a little nervous after reading reviews of the Tongue rubbing blisters, but haven't had that issue yet. I've been running on them for three weeks now. So far they are great. I had been running on the Olympus 4, also a great shoe. I bought the same size as the Olympus. The Torins feel maybe slightly shorter than the Olympus. I would buy the same size in the Torin again though. Now if Altra would make a Foot Shape Cycling shoe.

I've had a love-hate relationship with the Torins over the years and iterations. However, I can say that the latest iteration is one of the best, provided you know what runs to wear them on.
The originals were among my favorites, great for pounding the pavement on high mileage runs, then they evolved into unresponsive marshmallows that made them only useful for slow recovery runs, and now they seem to have found a new place among the Altra lineup: a fast and responsive middle-distance shoe.
I continue to love the evolution of this shoe. This latest shoe has solved so many of the problems of the past. First, the fit is quite impressive with a comfortable and snug-fitting upper that, for as long as I can remember, has always been loose-fitting feeling like the shoe would come off at any moment. The upper is very thin but durable and has not pressure points that I can feel. I'll admit, I still lace up the upper-most eyelet to ensure a secure heel lock-in. Second, the cushioning has been refined to the point that I can say that the Torins are becoming one of my favorite shoes again with one exception: these shoes are not built for high mileage runs nor to they provide the cusion of the Torins of old. These shoes are built for middle-distance faster runs. The cushioning is very dense but responsive perfectly suited for track workouts as well as faster road workouts. The cushioning is not, however, going to give your legs any respite. I did a 16 mile run in these and my legs were sore for 4 days. I have also done some intervals and other shorter runs ranging from 6-10 miles and my legs, though feeling it, were not in as bad of shape as the 16 miler.
It is obvious to me that these shoes are built for shorter faster runs. I haven't purchased a new pair of racers for my upcoming marathon, but I will consider these as a candidate for that race. There is no question in my mind that these would be a great pair of marathon and half-marathon racers, as long as you're not doing all of your long runs in these.

I've always had problems with my feet and knew when I started a new job my feet were going to be a problem I was recommended these by a coworker who has similar foot problems and I haven't had a problem since. So I plan on buying Altra shoes again in the future

Haven't bought any Altra's in a couple years and now I'm not sure why. The Torin's are great for the gym as well as short to mid runs.

This is my second pair of Torins. I give Torin credit for leading me to buy nearly every Altra model. For whatever reason, all Altras seem to run a tad large EXCEPT the Torin. If you size up for any other running shoe, I'd suggest doing the same with this shoe and you can't go wrong. I bought these as my treadmill shoe, using Escalantes for outdoor.

I ordered the same size I've used for years. They were a half size too small. Why do shoe makers feel the need to change the molds?

Great fitting shoe! True to size and I love the fact that the front of the shoe gives the correct space in width allowing my toes to sit as if I were barefoot. Use these daily for 3-5 mile runs
