I'm currently running the Torin 4.5 Plush. I have three pair of them. Not a big fan of the look or description of the Torin 5. I would like to see a Torin 5 Plush version. And that heel cup design is ugly!
Just in case... I'm going to pick up a 4th pair of the Torin 4.5 Plush while I can still get them.

Reading the reviews, it is so strange/humorous how we can differ so much in opinion. Simply put. I like Cushion. I am in my 60s now and a long time of running has been my feet up pretty badly in the metatarsal area, just like Bill Rogers serve his were. I just would like to see more cushion for us older folks and at least one shoe where we need it in the 4 foot. I have tried inserts, but they don't do the trick. Still like the wide toebox and zero drop though. Just need more cushion for the pushing!
Just disappointing, I was expecting maybe a little more cushion over 4.5

I love this shoe but unfortunately the soles are falling apart! This is my second pair - returned the first pair for the same reason and hoped it was a one off but the same thing happened to the second pair. Really disappointed.

I bought these for walking. They had less than 6 months of use (due to surgery and summer/ Birkenstock season). I was told it was "wear and tear" and not covered. If you want expensive sneakers that will tear with 6 months of use, these are them! Truly disgusted/disappointed...

This is my 3rd pair of Altra Torins and I be observed a sharp decline in quality. If you're looking at Altras for the large toe box and zero drop (neutral) try HOKA Bondi.
I used my first pair for more than 600 miles. My second pair didn't hold up long because the heals tore within 50 miles but I still used them for about 200 miles. Pair #2 also had a lacing design that would cut off the circulation in my foot because it was designed to tighten, instead of loosen, as you run.
I purchased these in February of 2022 and they failed by January of 2023. I ONLY for running and they held out for less than 70 miles before they tore. Altra claims to have a 300-500 mile warranty but when I filed a claim, they claimed this was due to "wear and tear." If I sold running shoes made out of toilet paper, I could call any shoe failures "wear and tear", despite the fact that my design is flawed.
The other reviews about the tongue design is also a huge issue. I still have a scar on the front of my ankle from the tongue tearing the skin off on my first run, which was only 3 miles.

I thought these shoes were great until after 5 months of easy walking they developed a hole in the mesh toe. Zappos did not stand behind their product, and neither did Altra. Altra claims a 300-500 mile “warranty”. Don’t believe it.

As a disabled person I was looking for a comfortable shoes for my day to day activities (not running, not distance walking just going to groceries etc.). I stumbled across Torin 4.5 which were amazing, served me well over 2 years and are still in like new condition. Decided to try Torin 5 despite all the negative reviews I've read (big mistake), the shoe is super comfortable and relieves the knee pain I have when walking just like my Torin 4.5 the issue started after 6 month when the inner heel material torn apart. Reached out to customer service after some back and forth they have decided this is wear and tear and that the "warranty" does not cover it. Those suppose to be "Performance road running shoes" that gave up after 6 month most light use that you can imagine...

Are these shoes unbelievable comfortable, yes! However they started falling apart within the first week of having them. The front toe mesh began to separate, and after about a month of running in them it was completely gone. I also has to super glue the lungs back onto the soles after about 200 miles. These really were my favorite running shoes, but do to the worst quality of any shoes I've ever purchased, do not buy these!

I used to be a huge fan of Altra shoes and this will be the last product I purchase. I reached out to their "warranty" team because the upper fabric separated from the soles at less than half the normal mileage I got out of the other pairs I have owned. After much back and forth they have decided this is wear and tear and a rip even though it is happening on both shoes both sides. If this is expected wear and tear these shoes are a waste of money for such a short period of use.

I love all my love Altras, except these! After a few runs, multiple sores from the cardboard like tongues, I read other reviews of these and honestly I am somewhat shocked they continue to sell the back stock now that the 6s are out. If you love Altras and thinking if trying a new style.keep scrolling! New to Altras.don't start with these. Altra.just recall this style! The problem with the tongue is so apparent! I am a bit apprehensive about continuing to buy Altras and shop at the store that sold me the 5s.

Got these about a month ago. Have less than 50 miles in them and they are already falling apart. Tongue cut my ankle first couple of times wearing them. Poor design and execution on altra's part.

Had the shoes a little over 4 weeks and it started to tear on both sides of both shoes where the outer material meets the midsole. Submitted a warranty claim to Altra and was told this is considered normal wear and tear. No, not for a 4 week old shoe that had been running on high school track and paved asphalt surfaces. Unfortunately for Altra, I will be sticking with a shoe manufacturer that will backup their product defects......ahem XeroShoes.

These are very cheaply built shoes. I've had them since mid-May 2022 (4-months) and have ran with them for less than 150 miles. When I made Altra aware of the manufacturer issue (shown in the photo), their response was that this is considered "wear and tear." Terrible customer service and product. I would not recommend buying these shoes.

These shoes are very uncomfortable, feel like they are lower in the back. The sole starts coming unglued immediately and I'm not a runner. The tongue is weird also. Don't waste your money on junk.

I absolutely love running in this shoe. I experienced the tongue cutting in to my ankle like many other people here have, but I didn't mind it, I just wore long socks and it no longer affected me.
My issue with this shoe is that the sole starts to come apart quickly. It comes apart faster than any other shoe I've owned before and when you submit a warranty claim for it, Altra claims it is regular wear and tear and refuses any further assistance.
Like I said, I love the shoe, but for the price, that is an unacceptable level of quality and customer service.

The thin plastic tongue cuts the front of your ankle/shin w/in the first 3 miles. Even tried with taller socks to cover the tongue and it still blistered me to bleeding with in a few miles. Love altra but these shoes are TRASH. Horrible design flaw.

The tongue needs to go! It cuts into your ankle even with socks on! I haven't been able to get past the tongue cutting into my ankle so I can not provide a more in-depth review of how the shoe performs after many miles. Shoe should be recalled!

Third and sadly last pair of these. Bought in March when they weren’t marked down but only began wearing then a few weeks ago and already the toes are ripped. Terrible!

I just use these for every day walking. I had to buy shoe glue in order to continue to wear these, and that was just the first month of owning these shoes. It's been almost a year and the bottle of shoe glue is almost gone. I have wide feet and they clam the wide toe box helps with that...it does not. The soles are falling apart, and I have blown through the sides of my shoes from just walking normally. I returned these shoes from the store I bought them from and got a new pair thinking that there might have just been a quality issue...I was wrong.... PLEASE DO NOT BUY THESE SHOES!!!!

Purchased these for running and walking around. The tongue design is horrible! It digs into my ankle and I'm forced to wear long socks for protection. The sole wears very quickly and it's very uncomfortable. I wanted to give this shoe a chance and bought a 2nd pair. They were equally lousy. I always replace the laces with aftermarket since Altra laces slip.
I love the Lone Peak 1. I love the Solstice 1 and 2. I love the Olympus 1. I love the current Escalante. I love the huge toe box!!! Just not a fan of some changes you guys have made. Sorry no pics!

I've been a consistent runner for 30 years and completed many a running event. So, to begin, the Torin Plush 4.5 might have been the most comfortable shoe I'd ever worn. Based on that, I was especially excited to try the Torin 5.0s when I'd finally worn through my 4.5s. Sadly, for as wonderful an experience the 4.5s were, the 5.0s have been the complete antithesis: a more uncomfortable shoe I've never worn. As others have said, the tongue is awful and digs into your ankle. What's worse, the eyelets for the laces have been completely redesigned and make lacing the shoes an experience unto itself--and not an enjoyable one. Additionally, compared to its predecessor, it feels like you're running on soles with the cushion of 1-ply cardboard. Again, I'm gutted because I wanted so much to like the 5.0s. As it stands, after 5 outings, I can't do it anymore: I've dug out my 4.5s from the garage where they'd become my mowing shoes, and I'll wear them until I find something more suitable. Fingers crossed Altra gets back to the previous specs.
