I love Altra shoes but they just don’t fit my wide feet unless I buy 1/2 to 1 size larger than usual. They mostly work OK but the extra length can be problematic at times. None of my local shops sell the wide sizes so I didn’t even know they existed until I saw them on Zappos.com. I sure wish there were more offerings but I’ve been so relieved and happy to find what I could. This all-leather design is one offered in wide and I am thrilled with this purchase so far. They do feel a little cheap but I do think that’s just the light weight that makes these shoes so wonderful for walking and trails. The leather design looks very nice too so I may even be using this pair for special events when I used to hate not being able to wear my comfortable Altras. Time will tell with regard to the durability but so far I am happy with the design and so pleased with the perfect fit on me. I just hope Altra offers more wide options very soon! I have more shoes to replace.

I have had many other pairs of Altra shoes and wanted the Torin 5 leather for colder weather wear. I'm not a runner, I just have wide, problem feet and find Altras to be one of the few brands that fit comfortably. This shoe in the M width was promising at first - it is long enough and has room for my orthotic insole, BUT there is a seam inside the shoe that rubs on the outside edge of my right foot. I can feel this even through my winter weight wool socks. Not sure if this a just a defect in the right shoe, or if the M width in the Torin 5 is narrower than my Torin 4.5 Plush. I don't think Altra has done a very good job in helping customers figure out the fit differences between Medium and Wide in the shoes where they offer both widths and how those relate to the fit of older versions of the same shoe. I will be returning this pair of shoes.

fit and size were as described. very light weight shoe. have worn these only a few times at the gym. so far so good.

Like most Altras I've owned, its like walking on clouds, very nice. I wanted a black leather shoe for office wear that was zero drop and wide enough. This ticked all the boxes, but its worth noting that my workspace is on the casual side - the leather looks and feels cheap, the leather doesn't seem very durable, and in general they don't look that great. But they fit wonderfully.

I have 3 other pair of Torin 5's, all in a size 15. When I unboxed the Torin 5 Leather variant I literally looked at the box to make sure I wasn't sent the wrong size. The box was for a size 15. After I attempted to try them on, I looked at the label on the tongue to make sure that a smaller size hadn't found its way to the size 15 box. The Torin Leather is just a full size smaller than marked. It is a nice looking walking shoe (as far as walking shoes go) but they do not make it in a size 16. If the 15 Wide (a size option not offered in regular Torins) is the same length, it will be too short.
