Other than the Torin 5 having the horrible tongue and also running a half-size small, I am very pleased with my second pair of those. However, I saw this Torin 5 LUXE and inquired with Altra customer service about a few things.
1. I asked if the half-size small problem still existed in the LUXE version. They responded that sizing was back to normal and no problem like on the regular Torin 5. They are correct....my size 11 fits perfect and didn't need to order 11.5 like with Torin 5.
2. The TONGUE!!! The tongue on this shoe is great and is what should have been on the regular Torin 5 from the beginning.
3. I asked if the fit and shape of the LUXE version was similar or different to the regular Torin. They responded that it is the same shape. Having received my new LUXE version, I can confirm.
Bottom line is this shoe is basically the Torin 5 with the sizing and the tongue fixed........oh, and with a slightly different upper material.
Provided Altra doesn't screw too terribly much with the Torin, it will continue to be my daily running shoe and this one is about perfect in all regards. Nice job Altra!!!

I wear 10.5s in most all shoes, and 10.5 in the Torin 5 Luxe too... great for every day use & working out, I haven't run in them yet but I'm sure they would be great for it. For the folks that don't love the tongue on the Torin 5, the soft tongue on the Luxe is super comfortable. Give them a shot!

Love these and they have restored my faith in Altras.
In the last couple of years the toe box got reconfigured narrower and the designs seem to have gotten not so much to my taste.
But these fit like the original Altras I have (many, including the Vali in all four colors, Timp 1 and 1.5).
Hope they hold up ( I am retired and do not run, just walk a lot) as this is the most I ever paid for a shoe.

I've been running in Altria's since 2014, and this shoe is what I've come to expect.
It's another good shoe in the line up. The back area around the ankle, just below the ball, rubbed a little from some ribbing on that part of the shoe on the first run.
After that first run I wasn't bothered again.
It's a comfortable shoe for the distance.

Love these shoes! I purchased the trail and road shoes, and love them both. Would absolutely recommend giving these a try.

This shoe has completely eliminated my toe and foot pain. The toe box is perfectly built to provide room for your toes while also offering structural support. The mesh upper is so comfortable. The heel fits perfectly as well. Im back to long runs getting ready for another marathon next year. I could not be happier with these shoes and I look forward to my runs again. Thank you Altra for building the perfect shoe!

My son and I have been Altra fans for years. We've both run in Torin Plush 4.0s, Escalante 1.5s and others. I've logged 75 miles on these Torin Luxe's so far. These are possibly my favorite shoe ever. My college age son runs in the regular Torin 5.0s and loves them. He wears regular low-cut socks and has no problem with the sharp tounge that some complain about.

Walking and hiking. Took a week or so to get used to, but they're terrific. Would love some inserts to provide better arch support. Any suggestions?

I love Altra running shoes. I have had a few other pairs- Timp, Olypmpus and Superior. The Torin is definitely super plush feeling. I got these to wear as my every day shoe.

I absolutely love these sneakers. I'm a beginner so I can't really speak to anything specific as it pertains to running but the fit is great and they are extremely comfortable. Wish there were more color options and the price was a little lower. That's all I can say that's negative about them.

So I bought a pair of Lone Peak 5's for the trail. I liked them so much I got these for the streets. 1st time in zero drop shoes & I'm a big fan so far. Light weight & comfortable. I will definitely buy again when these wear out.

I previously rated them 4 stars because the tongue could possibly be an issue for some who wear no socks or no-show ones. But honestly the tongue is quite soft, not as soft as my Paradigms or Alpines but soft. With socks that cover the ankles there would be no issue whatsoever. The shoes themselves are so soft and light they really feel like you're wearing bedroom slippers with laces. I don't know if they would make a great running shoe but I don't think they were designed for that. For an all day in and out, up and down leisure activities they are superb. That's why I'm changing the rating to 5 stars.
The one thing that I've had an issue with some Altras is that the heel can be too soft allowing what I can only describe as sinking, turning the arch support into a fulcrum and throwing your posture back, causing me back pain. Kinda like the old Earth shoes were with that negative heel to toe drop. These have a little bit of that feel but not as much as the Alpines. And overall they are so comfortable that most won't notice. I'm making the comparison with the Paradigm 6 heel cup which just holding the shoe up and sticking a thumb or finger into the heel area it's noticeable how firm and somewhat elevated they. There is no heel sync with the Paradigm they just offer flat wonderful support and cushioning. In my opinion they are a perfect shoe for vigorous activities. The Torin Luxe is more of a comfort shoe, again after almost 2 weeks with these they feel almost as if I'm wearing bedroom slippers with that wonderful soft material wrapped around your foot. And the look of the material, I got the black, is outstanding! Again this is truly a 5 star shoe but maybe not the best choice for runners.

This is my first zero drop shoe and I am in love with these things from the first step. They are so comfortable, they look amazing, the shape is perfect so your toes aren't shoved together like they're waiting in line at a theme park, the padding is cushy yet flat. It feels like the pad of my foot is elevated but that's probably because its always been way lower than my heel and I've never had a flat sneaker before.
10/10 would recommend.

This is my four pair of this shoe. I love this shoe but as everyone else the sole is coming off. If someone knows a good brand of glue that would be great.

This review is for the Torin 5 Luxe. This is the second pair I have owned and I have been pleased with both pairs! The toe box is plenty wide for me and I have a standard size 13 foot. The cushioning is very good as well. The fabric makes it comfortable to wear and the younger does not cut like the regular Torin 5 shoe does. They put cushioning around this tongue. The only complaint I have is that the big toe area is not reinforced and after some wear your toe can come through it if that's typically a problem for you like it is me. Other than that this shoe is worth the money.
