I'm updating my review as I've read several others mentioning issues with the durability of the material and sole. After a little more than 2 years I've encountered no such issue. These are still some of the most comfortable shoes you could find. I do not run in them but do a lot of walking. The only complaint I have, common to several Altras, is that your heel can sink a little when leaning back causing a rocking or see-saw effect over the arch support, giving the shoes a negative heel to toe drop. The only Altra that I've used that doesn't have this issue is the Paradigm. But for ultimate comfort in a striking looking shoe that is quite unique you can't go wrong with this one. The heel sink might not be noticed by most as many Altras apparently are constructed this way. If it is an issue then I would highly recommend the Paradigms as they fully support the heel and maintain a true zero drop balanced foot. But for all day comfort these are a true winner, and, for me, very durable.

Excellent shoe with very roomy toe box. Tongue can be a little funky, but overall I liked it enough that I purchased a second pair.

Being a soldier and actively deployed, this shoe has held up great to my daily abuse. From working out in the gym to just running around the track. I would buy this shoe again!!

I have dreadful problem deformed feet. The only shoe I have worn for over five years is Lems Primal sneaker. It is the only shoe model that has a roomy enough toe box to fit my problem toes and flat footedness. I have ordered so many sneakers and shoes from wonderful Zappos in the hope of finding another style shoe. I have ordered Altra sneakers before and it was never a fit. Well I tried this Torin 5 Luxe in Men's going up a size and it is now day three and I have been wearing them inside for over 8 hours a day. I have placed my Abeo insole inside of them and seriously, I believe I have found another sneaker and this one has some bounce to it. I am traveling to Europe and have been looking for another shoe to bring for walking and fingers crossed I may have found it after all these years. It is a lot of shoe for me to wear compared to what I am used to but they are cushioned and comfy. Even though they come up much higher around my ankle they feel really good. I am wondering if the women's model would be different in having less heft and might try it in a month or so. For now I am quite pleased.
I'd also recommend:
Lems

I have worn this shoe for a year using it for daily wear, going to the gym (treadmill), and also an international trip. On the trip I was walking 10+ miles per day for 2 weeks and even hiking. I am 6'6" and about 350lbs wearing size 15 so these shoes are punished by my weight. I have experienced no sole separation. The shoes still look and feel almost as new and the materials feel very high quality. They aren't the most beautiful, but certainly function well.

Love how the Torin 5 Luxe look and feel. I tried on a pair of the Torin 5 and felt the tongue was too sharp when wearing ankle socks...not so with these! Have owned them about a year and still love putting them on.

I purchased these for my 20-year-old grandson who has problems with his feet. He is extremely satisfied with the comfort and fit, as well as the arch support.

I'm on my second pair of Torin 5 Luxe's, and am about to order 2 more pair. I've long been a fan of Altra trail shoes for hiking, but am really happy to have found a shoe that offers Altra comfort (ie, wide toe box) in a design suitable for everyday use. I've logged many miles in these shoes in urban settings, and to my mind they're a combination of comfort and style that can't be beat. I've seen other reviews questioning their durability, but in my experience they've worn very well with no quality issues.

I have had other altra shoes, and once again these are great. I use them for work where I am on my feet all day and I never feel tired or sore feet. Very similar fit to the lone peaks

I started running in Torins back in 2017. I liked the Torin 3 and thought the Torin 3.5 knit hit the nail on the head. I read mixed reviews about the Torin 4s so I skipped them. This shoe (Torin 5 luxe), however, has everything I liked about the Torin 3.5 knit and then some! The toebox is roomy and the upper material is noninvasive. The bottom is more durable than the Torin 3s. The shoe feels springy and faster than the Torin 3s, yet it still gives plenty of space. I have a bunion on my right foot and problems with a lot of other shoes, but not this one. Altra hit it out the park with this shoe! I have been very pleased with it.

Altra nailed these! I've been using Altras for running for ages, but never been thrilled with their more casual options. I do a lot of city walking, and these are absolutely perfect. Easily the best looking Altras I've had, and maybe the most comfortable. Their fit is getting a little slimmer than early generations, while still being a good bit wider than other brands. Despite the generous cushioning, they are still quite light. They're my go-to shoe for long days on my feet, look slick enough to dress up a bit, and can still be used for light jogs if needed (making em a perfect travel shoe). Stoked to see Altra continuing to refine.

These shoes fit like they’re made for my human feet. Not sure why it’s so rare that shoes are shaped like human feet considering feet are what shoes are for. These are comfy and flexible. I love the flexible mesh fabric. My toes can do whatever they want in there, but they feel secure like my feet will stay put. I also like the heathered black color. Since I switched to wearing nothing but Birkenstocks and Uggs, all my other shoes feel like torture now. These are great.

This is my 4th pair of Torins. Luckily I was web chatting with someone when considering between these and the regular Torin 5s. Was advised that the 5s have an issue with the tongue so I got these to replace my Torin 4 plushes. Easy adjustment to them and didn't have a hard time adapting to them like happens sometimes when one gets a new pair. Switched to Altra from Brooks many years ago and will never go back. 4th pair delivers just like the previous 3 did!

My first comfortable shoes in a very long time! I've had trouble with tongues in other recent purchases, but not these. Nice heel cushion and support too. Bought some for my son too, he loves them as well.

I decided to investigate foot shaped shoes, as well as shoes with extra cushion. I have a number of herniated discs, and have already underwent two spine surgeries, so I was really hoping to find shoes that needed to be comfortable, supportive enough for a tread climber, and still stylish. I tried 11 different pairs of shoes from the following brands: Altra, Asics, Brooks, Hoka, and Topo. For what I was looking for, Altra and Topo were best by far. I don't think I'll ever go back to a non-foot shaped shoe. I absolutely love the wide toe box. After narrowing it down to Altra and Topo, I tried going up a half size due to recommendations in reviews. That worked out well for me. Ultimately, these Torin 5 Luxe turned out to not only be the best for me, but the best shoes I've ever owned in my opinion. Most comfortable, supportive enough for work and the tread climber, and stylish. If you purchase them, I hope you end up liking them as much as I do.

Interesting shoe, light weight, very flexible upper, yet comfortable for long walks. The Torin is a well designed shoe and fits like a glove.
