Took a little bit for the shoe to lace up the way I like it. All smiles now it is light zippy and smooth. Go ahead and pick yourself a pair.

My first pair, and, for trails, these are the best shoes I've ever tried. Ordering a back up pair. Been a long time since I've loved a shoe, these fit the bill. They feel stable, light, responsive. I like the wide toe zone, and no rise... Enough cushion, not too much, not too little. Awesome trail shoes!!

I needed a trail shoe for hiking and a bit of trail running. Love how the shoe feels and preforms on the trail. Great width in the tow box and the Zero drop makes this shoe so comfortable.

I love the wide toe box. The inside feels like you're walking on a cushion. After having my first timer for about six weeks I found another pair to store away I love the shoes that much.

Third pair of Superiors. I also have the Lone Peak 5. In general, Altras let my feet move very naturally. These do that really well while providing light protection, support, and off-road traction. I also use the stone guard inserts. I wear them for dog walks around the neighborhood on natural surfaces, in the woods, trail runs and light rucksacking, usually from 2-10 miles, and in dry/wet, warm/cold weather conditions. I care more about light feet than my feet getting wet, so if it's cold and wet I'll wear a thick pair of wool socks (usually Darn Tough or Smart Wool). In my area a low temp is usually around 35-45, with occasionally lower.

I had two pairs of this shoe one was the 4.0 and the other one was the full point five been very happy with both. I am a large man I am not a runner sadly I tore a ligament on the right foot between the pinky and the ankle back in 2015 it never recovered. As of early 2020 Altra has been my main shoe for hiking and exploring the National Parks for just walking not running. I stand at 6 ft 6 and my weight fluctuates between 240 and 255lbs. I am certainly no gazelle I would say I am more like an Elland. I have been told by other hikers who have worked in the National Parks that I am a strong hiker at my age of 57. My body has been through some pretty rigorous hiking in the last decade but recently I discovered this company and I have had at least eight pairs of their shoes and have been pretty content with most of them. This model the 4.0 in the 4.5 I thought were a very good bang for the $$ and even at my weight I thought there's no way they're going to survive even 200 miles but I pushed them up to about 600 miles each pair. I used these shoes in areas such as Glacier, Zion, Grand Canyon and Olympic National Park I figured that if these shoes could survive hiking going up and down through these National Parks over pretty rough Terrain, at my size and at my weight then thev're got to be a good shoe. I LOVE this shoe. Have been running in and wearing Asics for 25 years. I have made the switch, this shoe is amazing!

Fantastic shoe! Had to go up 1/2 size. Roomy toe box, heel and mid foot locked in place. Tremendously helped cure my plantar fasciitis and neuroma, no more pain after wearing these. Natural movement of my food allowed it to heal and restrengthen . Would highly recommend!

Best version of the Sup yet. Similar toe bumper issues as others, but it's not bad. Aside from that, this is the most fluid Superior to date. Nice snug mid foot fit, roomy toe box.

Awesome quality. Haven't really put them to the test to see how they hold up. Bought my true size but they were too short and didn't have full toe freedom. Had to go 1/2 size up.

Love the color combination (black, red and grey). Love the simplicity and minimalist design. Logos are discreet. I don't feel like I'm a walking advertisement. Only thing is they are slippery on wet concrete pavements. But they're trail shoes and not meant for paved surfaces. Overall, I love them!

Shoes fit great and I have had no problems when running! Great quality!

Very light and extremely comfortable

My toes are relaxed; heels feel wrapped. I'm happy - enough said!

Like the latest version. Have gotten a lot of miles from previous versions and it's nice when models don't differ too significantly.

This is my second pair of Altras after Lone Peak 4s. I loved the roominess of the Lone Peaks but they never felt locked in. The Superior 5s feel way more locked in. Love them!

I used them for the first time today and ran a distance of 8 miles and it was really enjoyable. I love how it's light and comfortable. I highly recommend these shoes. Had some road miles mixed with the trail and it worked!

I've used the Altra Lone Peak shoes in the past for rock hiking and general outdoors trekking, from Hong Kong to Norway, and loved them. When I came across the Superior 5, I liked it's light weight and styling. I felt the black ones would be a good addition to the black Altra Escalantes I often wear to work. I was right! I've already received compliments on them from colleagues, and I like having a stable shoe that I can do anything in. I'm very happy with my "work pair" and will probably get another pair for the dirt!
