Fabulous shoes! As others have shared, Altras run small. I usually wear an 11.5 or 12. The Altras fit me at 12.5 (across multiple models so their sizing is consistent - yay!)

Trail shoes are almost immediately solid or immediately a problem. When I put them on, knowing my bunions could be pinched or the shoe box could be too narrow, I was already thinking of how the return process would take. I picked a decent trail with narrow spots, rocks and ruts to see if they would hang onto my feet or slip. The result was I stopped thinking about the shoes and focused on the trail. They were THAT good! Since then I've run on different trails with the same results. No pinching, no slipping and the traction is consistently good. I'm glad I picked them!

Outstanding trail shoe , I've thought of trying these for a few years but haven't because I have med high arches and typical flat shoes aren't comfortable, I finally tried them have about 75 rugged hiking miles on them abs now own 3 pair . Wish I tried them sooner

I've struggled with capsulitis (inflammation and general badness in my second toe) for about a year. I have constant pain and my toe is slowly drifting sideways. The important part is that, over the course of two runs, I felt my feet adapting and realigning in these shoes. It's to the point that I feel like a paid actor saying this, but the effect was essentially therapeutic. All the marketing about the wide toe-box, balanced design, and everything else came through for me. I can't recommend these shoes enough! (My average shoe size is a 9.5 and the 10 fit me just right)

My second, but definitely not my last pair. I am not the easiest person to please, especially not twice. If you need a roomy toe box, try these. They won't disappoint.

This is my fast and light trail shoe of choice. Great for fun trail running, foot strength and they look great. The 5 feels wonderfully stable and looks awesome. I love the 5

These are absolutely perfect! They feel great. Perfect fit. Lightweight. Great grip. Robust laces. and most importantly for me, The footbed is easy on my sensitive arches. After a series of trying the new timps, olympuses, lone peaks, and a few Hoka products as well, I finally found something to replace my well worn Timp 1.5s. No foot pain whatsoever during or afterwards! Please, please, please don't change these!

I'm very happy with these. I've been nervous about ordering altras online as they've been changing the fit of their shoes with some models but these still feel great! Will buy again for sure

The Superior 5 is bliss. Just the right width, just the right length, just the right amount of cushioning. Running down my local trail felt nearly effortless, so much so that I picked up the pace a bit more than intended and my legs were barking at me later that day. The colors are rad, and to the person who was complaining about them, they must be new to the trail running scene. Bright colors are cool, and are extremely helpful if you find yourself in an emergency situation and need to be rescued. Good luck finding a passed out trail runner wearing all "earth tones".

The new Superior 5 brings be back to my college days! It's super light and it makes me feel fast again :). I generally train and race in higher cushioned models though I love mixing it up. The Superior 5 strengthens your feet in ways a high cushioned shoe doesn't. It's super responsive with just enough ground feel. The removable rock plate is also a nice addition for some extra protection on rocky trails! In all, the Superior 5 is a necessary addition to the quiver!

Probably the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn next to my old pair of Timp 1.5s. I've run through snow, ice, mud, scrambled, climbed, and generally abused them for months now and the construction seems to be holding better for me than for others. My only complaint is that the outsole has worn down remarkably fast, especially considering they stay on natural surfaces 80% of the time. The lugs have lost a good bit of material and are generally super smoothed over. Definitely makes me lose confidence on steep technical descents and scrambling, and I've had some close calls with slips. This shoe with a beefier outsole would be the perfect shoe!

Like this shoe a lot. My only thing is the upper around the heel should be more similar to the lone peak model. The superior heel is not as comfortable and a little to bulky. But a great shoe.

They should really make this more obvious to buyers, its disappointing to spend 130 bucks to get a shoe in colors you didsnt expect, but the laces are light pink and the sole cushion is a similar pink but less noticeable. Now i have to track down white laces for this show, which is otherwise a good shoe.

These are great. The fit and feel was just what I needed. The length is maybe a smidge short, I wouldn't say a half size, but a smidge. It's not a big deal bc the anatomical shape doesn't really require the thumbs width in front of the toes. The "but" comes from the color way. I ordered the black upper with the "off white" mid sole and laces. On the website, that's just what it looks like. In reality, the laces are pink and the midsole is closer to the photos, but still pink. I'm wearing them anyway, but I do wish they looked like the photos. Still a great shoe! Highly recommend.

I have three pairs, superior, lone peak 6 and Timp 4. I love altra shoes but will not buy superior again. I think my lone peak 6 are more comfortable. Because of being able to buy the wide toe box, I will buy Timp style again in black with white soles.

Shoe is nice and light. Find that there is too much padding in the insole. If I buy it again will buy a smaller size and remove the insoles.

I started off with altra using the superior 3 and then went through a few models of the lone peak and now Im back with the superiors. I was looking for something with a little less cushion and to try something different. The shoe has a really comfortable and snug fit, it might fit slightly small though. It feels insanely light on foot and I love how they feel to wear for both daily and hiking purposes. The materials are all feel really nice but the upper might have some slight durability issues depending on if you catch it on rocks. The upper is really thin and breathable but I don't expect it to keep water out at all for even just walking on damp grass. One small flaw that I've noticed is that I feel like the inside of my foot reaches over the edge of the midsole a bit. It's barely a problem and I don't expect it to bother anyone else. I also love the way the burrito tongue feels. I got the white and green color and after a few months of wear they still keep their color after just a quick rinse. I highly recommend the shoe for anyone who wants a barefoot shoe that still has some cushion.

I went up a half size and the shoes still didn't fit. I went up a full size and the shoes fit like my Superior 4s. I don't think they're as wide, though, as my tongue closure is much further apart than on my S4s.

The blacked out Superior 4's were one of my favorite shoes ever, but I ended up using them more as a daily walker than a trail shoe. The same goes for these. The MaxTrac soles have horrible grip (especially on wet surfaces) & they have not improved it. If they would just switch out the material for Vibram soles like some of their other shoes, it would be perfect. Hopefully, they are not content with 4 stars, instead of 5. The burrito wrap tongue is my favorite aspect of these shoes. I have flat feet, that tongue creates compression/support of it more than others!

I'm an aggressive, fast paced, 230lb hiker with high arches. I hike a 5+ mile rolling hill, clay trail with multiple creek crossings. 50+ miles in shoe so far & fits like a glove. The heel is comfortably snug and the toe box gives my toes just the perfect amount of space. No more squishy toes! The Superior is very responsive and similar to the Escalante in fit. In fact, both these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn! I give it 4 stars due to lack of traction. I took a spill going down a steep wet hill and I've noticed a bit of slippage hitting the muddy spots on a few up hill spots, creek crossings & wet logs or tree roots.

I have bought 3 Surperior 4.0, 2 Superior 4.5, and 2 Superior 5.0. As they upgraded the shoes, the width has become more narrow and the toe box narrow and shorter. Each time I would buy a size 12.5. My first Superior 5.0 caused me to lose some toe nails because my toes were hitting the front of the shoe. Never was a problem before. Figured it was the last time I would ever buy this shoe. After several months, decided to buy another pair but moved to a size 13. The 1/2 a shoe size increase did help and made it feel like the other 12.5 I had previously. Might have to buy a couple more before Altria changes thiings again.

Great fit, great heel pocket, etc. Love the long-lasting durability of Superiors. Nervous how the new upper design will hold against potential tears. Lacing is weird, harder to tighten when lacing up. It was easier with the 4.5 model.
