I'm in awe of how cushioned these shoes are! I see why so many people rave about them. Sadly, an old foot injury prevented me from wearing them.

Might be close to the perfect cross training/light trail running shoe. Love the zero drop and it's very hard to find that in a good, light and well balanced comfortable shoe. I've run everything from Merrell Vapor Gloves (minimalist) to Go Ruck cross trainers (ok but not enough toe box room and too much drop and also less cushion/comfort), On Cloud (just terrible, worst I've ever owned for anything outdoors), and about every Brooks trail runner out there (no zero drop, tighter toe boxes. I use these for lifting, hiking/light trail running, golf, and general purpose all day shoes. If they are remotely durable for a year I will be super impressed but I haven't had them long enough to review durability. I did like the first pair so much I bought 2 more backups because they are so perfect in fit/feel/comfort for my uses.

These are amazing. I would wear them road running if I were afraid of wearing them out too fast. They are sized about 1/2 size too small, but this is a known issue and I went up a size when I bought them. They are perfect. Low to the ground, grippy, perfectly paddedbut not overly so. Very light as well. I forget I have them on.

Super light weight and comfortable for my feet. I don't wear any other shoes for running/sports. I have wide feet and don't wear any other brands' shoes and altra have always been a perfect fit. These and the esclantes are all I'll wear for running or even taking my son for baseball practice. The uppers are very thin and don't have any material running through like earlier versions so we'll see how they hold up over time, but so far so good.

I have recurrent plantar fasciitis due to flat feet. Size D shoes also cramp my feet. Wearing Superior 5 has increased my walking from 1,000+ steps to a max of 11,000+ in a day. No pain. Thanks!

Use it for running and some light hiking. I have narrow feet and this is a good fit. Seems like it's on the large size- often I'm 12.5 but 12 fit me better in this shoe

I love these shoes... and Altra's in general! I mostly wear these when we trail run on the islands, but they are nice for airport hikes and street running, too.

Had too opt for a half size up compared to normal. Coming off barefoot running this is the closest Altra shoe towards a firm minimalist sole. Very happy w fit and first few miles. I am coming off the lone peaks for years and find these to be better suited to the minimalist.

My husband is 6'8" and is usually a 14.5 shoe but since this is foot shaped, a 14 was perfect!! He LOVES them!

My favorite all-time shoe. Loved the first park so much, I bought a second. Great wide toe bed. Lightweight. Worked on the trail and great for the road too. Probably ending up buying another.

First time purchasing a pair of Altras. I love them. Super comfortable. Only negative is they run small. I ordered a half size larger than my normal shoe size. Should have ordered a full size larger.

Tired Ren Faire looking barefoot shoes. Perfect for a person who wants minimalist shoe ! It is a good flexible sole for natural movement that offers a little padding while having zero drop.

This is my 2nd pair in 2 weeks. I so loved the 1st pair that I bought a 2nd pair. They allow for a lot of toe movement and are shaped more like a foot. I'm really pleased with both pair of Altra's.

Nice and wide in the toes. Cool colors. Solid construction. This is the 2nd pair of these that I've bought in the last month because I like the 1st pair so much. Thanks Zappos!

five stars for the fives. every time i get a new model of the superior i'm all like "ewwwwe they feel so gross and not like my old pair" then like 50mi later they're THE BEST version since, like, the 2.5s or 3.0s, probably better tbh. the 5s are definitely wider and more V shaped than the 4.0 and 4.5. feels more like the early models shape wise, a hair narrower, but better heel support now. the tread is the same. DO NOT BUY THESE FOR MUD. no. these accel in dry terrain, gravel sand hardpack slick rock. doesn't like wet. the uppers are extra thin now, but only on the top. the sides and toe can handle some abrasion but not a ton. you'll want good footwork because they aren't forgiving. the soles will pack out around 300mi, so if you also have tough feet, i get 500-600mi. overall solid shoe a lot of runners and backpackers misunderstand. it's for people who want light low profile shoes, not durable mud rock footwear.

Multiple 3-20 mile training runs on all terrain, raced a 50k on trails/roads. Durability is great. Toe box is wide. Great ground feel. Great traction. Just size up 1/2 or full size.

Great shoe. I would love a second pair with a less aggressive tread pattern for mixed surface running. Great shoe and very stylish.
