I love those shoes but r a bit too wide for my feet. I walk 6 miles per day on average and the eyelets for the shoelaces are tearing/falling apart.

Like folks have noted, the quality is subpar. I'm on my 3rd pair and they keep wearing out. However, Altra service is great and has warrantied each pair so it's like getting a new pair every 6mo.

Bought these less than a year ago for my husband, light use for the office and they are all torn. The soles are still brand new but the fabric is garbage and is all torn.

This is my 3rd pair of LP Alpines and while I love the fit all have the same durability issue with the sole - 50 miles in and minimal traction remains. I love these shoes, but need better durability.

Durability is not on par with other altras I've had, the upper material has worn through in multiple spots from just the flexion of walking. Also, for some reason these run much bigger than other pairs, they fit at least a half size-one size bigger than other altra models I've worn.

I recently ordered these and overall really like the aesthetic and feel of them on my feet. I love my Lone Peak 5s for hiking and can wear them all day, even on mixed/paved surfaces, and wanted a the same fit but a more casual look for wearing 'around town', when traveling, etc.
These work for that for the most part, but it's very annoying (at least in my case) to have such an aggressive sole in a 'lifestyle' shoe. They even sound weird walking on hard surfaces because of it. I wish they put a road or some kind of hybrid tread on this shoe but otherwise kept the shoe the same.
I might still keep them, as there aren't many other options out there that are cushioned, wide toe box, and look like relatively normal casual shoes, but it would be a compromise.

I bought the women's version of this shoe. It was a little snug, so I ordered the men's version for the width. It was even more snug than the women's version. Returned.

Bought these primarily as a road walking/rucking shoe. I am not a heavy person, and I rotate my shoes over three days, so these should have lasted a typical 4 -5 months for a walking shoe. As always, the perfect foot shape and just the right amount of cushion. But--one month in, and the tread was already showing serious wear signs. Two months in and the toe box upper on each shoe tore in two places (mentioned by another reviewer as well). Also, in month two, traction was nonexistent on wet road or wet trail. By month three, shoes were relegated to lawn mowing duty because the tread had basically worn off and a hole had developed in the left heel. Too bad, as I really liked the look of this shoe. I had a similar experience with my first pair of Altras, so I don't think I'll buy Altras again until their sole durability and "slickness" is fixed.

I love the Altra brand and the comfort of these shoes, however they didn’t hold up well. For the money, you would think these shows would last longer. I guess that’s the cost of comfort!

They’re ok. Super comfy, but lacking sturdiness.

Cool looking show. Unfortunately it had the flattest, weakest arch support I’ve ever felt in a hiking shoe.

I have had a number of pairs of Altra shoes in several models. They have all fit well, except for these, which are too narrow across the lower lace area. Unfortunately, they do not offer wide sizes in this model.

These shoes are very comfortable.
Styling is different. The green pair makes me want to yodle.
I've had them for several months and the wear is ok to this point.
I have one major complaint...they soak up water like a sponge. Dew on grass goes straight through to your socks. Forget about wearing these in any rain. Fix this and get some better colors and you'll have a winner.

This is a great shoe but it needs a little improvement. It is described as the "alpine" hiking shoe, however the sole is too soft for really rock terrain, it needs a rock plate or a firmer rock plate if it has one. Up hill and down hill it is very good, on side hill train though the shoe needs more ability to retain your ankle in the shoe without relying on lacing it super tight. While it is stable my foot is moving in side the shoe a bit much. I really like these shoes they are very comfortable from the very first hike but I would like a bit more from them. Prior hikers for comparison where Technical's Plasmas and Asolo GV hikers. I don't do reviews often but I wanted to get my take on this published in to Altra and see if they will give this a bit more focus.

I like the shoe, comfy, great look, nice upper material choice, but the traction is terrible in wet conditions. I took a hard fall because these shoes lacked wet traction. I prefer a Vibram sole over the Dura tread.

Awesome shoes in the beginning. I've owned several pairs of lone peaks. My last pair being LP7s that just won't die. These were awesome in the beginning but like many other reviews had mentioned they have developed tears and holes in the crease where your toes bend. Massively disappointing.

Love this shoe. On my second pair. Use them for casual wear at the office. Both pairs have now ripped at ankle and top front as indicated in other reviews. Durability very poor at this price point!

I wore these two weeks straight in Spain walking 8-10 miles a day. Super comfortable. But the suede construction and seams came apart within months of hardly any additional wear. The soles still have plenty of tread but the uppers are coming apart. These would be shredded on actual trails. I wear them for yard work now.

Put them on and ran into a problem don't use the tab in the back to assist you in putting on the shoes. Other than that they look really cool

This is my second pair of Altras. The look and feel is nice, however these shoes kill my feet and calves while walking. I have worn barefoot shoes for 10+ years and never experienced this before.

It is a good shoe to walk on paved roads, but horrible on any tilted surface, like you find on moderate hikes, not to mention rocks. The worst Altra model I ever had, and owned 5 different ones.

Very comfortable shoe, but fabric began to tear and color changed/stained despite treating with multiple detergents. Only wore on managed trails, no trailblazing or rough conditions, but just trail dust. and a little moisture. This will definitely be a "trail" shoe while it lasts, but too stained/frayed to wear to town.

The Alpine should not have hemp fabric and the Olympus if it's going to be the burliest shoe shoe not have so much soft rubber. Put goretex on the Lone Hiker high or make the Olympus some better. The Alpine looks alpinesque but the fabric choice is wrong. Most color ways are hideous. Did you notice the Lone Peak has as many 1 and 2 stars as 5 stars? Listen to your customers. Return to simple colors
