I've used the Lone Peak 8 (regular) before and really liked them, so I picked up the LP Alpine expecting a similar experience. Both shoes are great overall, but the Alpine fits slightly smaller. I think it's due to the different upper materialless stretch or give compared to the Lone Peak 8. The outsole looks exactly the same, so traction and grip are just as solid. Just be aware that the Alpine runs a bit snugger, especially if you're used to the standard Lone Peaks.

Great jump to these shoes from New Balance. Better fit and feel. For the Materials and how long they last, it needs to be cheaper and they need more in stock. Great shoe overall.

I absolutely love the LP Alpine. These are the shoes I wear 90% of the time, both for running and walking around town. My only complaint is that on every pair I have owned the top gets worn and the material tears.

Please make a version of this shoe with ventilation. I can't stomach the neon running shoes. The lp alpine in black is the only good looking shoe I can wear in the city.

The Lone Peaks have always been a friend of mine; backpacking, camping, hiking, and everyday use. My only issue with this model is that the front busted through on both of my shoes within a month or so. Their total life time lasted me just about 2 months before they were unwearable. Tons of compliments from friends and others in the outdoor industry, and served justice on and off trail. But unfortunately their was lack of life. I wish they lasted that 3-6 month life that most other shoes have!!

It's a Lone Peak with a different look and different feel. It's a good shoe but I prefer the original.

This shoe is wide and I like that. I don't need an E width, but I can use the width and don't like my toes cramped. I would've liked the option (as in an arch support) for just a touch more support in the arch. I can't wear shoes with high arches, but this one is really low. Time will tell how it wears. But for now these are very comfortable shoes and I like wearing them. I could do without the speckle in the sole material. Every time I look at them I think I've gotten something on them.

i wasn't crazy about these shoes when first wearing. I use more for everyday use rather than serious hiking. fit well through mid but seemed wide/sloppy in toe box for push off. i keep wearing them and they are definitely growing on me.

Love the comfort, fit and more rugged and protective upper. I wish all Altra shoes had Vibram soles because Vibram soles have far superior traction on wet rock.

While I would love the cushion of the Olympus this shoe had the width it didn't. Have been on a couple trail hikes and it was very comfortable. Please don't change the width on it, although it could stand a little more narrow in the heel. Now we will see if it holds up as far as stitching and such. I would buy again for the width alone.

I wear these for daily use that can include hikes in the woods, hilly gravel roads, or just casual wear. They are very easy to put on and take off, and feel very secure when laced up. The Upper is very comfortable and flexible yet supportive. My only wish is that they were more weather resistant.

I purchased this shoe for our son who has spina bifida and paralyzed/wheelchair biund. His feet stay swollen and it is very hard to find a shoe that works. This shoe has a wide toe space and works well. We love them.

Shoe feels much more durable, have hiked many miles in all the other temp, lone peak, and superior. Just finished high altitude section during wet storm conditions after sealing them. Dry feet in the end.

I've only had them a few days, but immediately appreciate the roomy toe box. They feel fine on floors and paved roads, but not terribly firm or supportive on a hiking trail. Maybe they make another style that would be better suited to trails, but at least I've now got some shoes that don't kill my feet.

These shoes look great and they're very comfortable. Honestly I like everything about them except that they are wearing very quickly. I've had them for 2 months and have only been using them in the office and on walks with my kids. I just think they can do better in terms of durability. The main wear is on the soul but there are also some tears around the heel.

I love the look and feel of this shoe but I have had two pairs and they both rip at the ankle where the softer material is. Altra replaced the first pair and the second pair ripped in the exact same spots. It really is a design/manufacturing defect, hopefully they will address this in the next version because I love everything else about the shoe.

This is the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. But this is my second pair, and on both pairs of shoes the upper has fallen apart after less than a year of pretty casual use. It's a great shoe, but I'm hesitant to buy another pair due to durability issues.

I haven't worn them very much and the canvas has already torn a bit to reveal ugly cushioning near the ankles. It also seems like there's less cushioning than my Lone Peak's. Otherwise great product.

I was going to use these two walk / hike in, but the right shoe constantly rubs the back of my heel. I tried two pair, thinking it was possibly just a defective pair, but after receiving and trying the second pair, I'm going to return them. I was reading reviews and the only issues I saw were with materials quality, so I suppose these won't work for me. I'll look for another. Regardless, I'd still recommend these because they felt great overall, when it didn't rub the back of my heel. I gave them a 3 star based on my personal experience and the fact I didn't keep either.

I have used this for hiking and casual wear. Generally speaking, I like it. I would love it if the outsole and materials were more durable. Also, this shoe has gone unchanged for a while with the exception of the price. This thing has gone up considerably without any enhancements being made to the shoe; therefore, I will move on to something else.

My first pair of Altra LP Alpine was a game changer for me. They actually were "foot shaped" and fit my 4E feet great (at size 10.5), but after 12 months, they were starting to show too much wear and when I got my next pair they were about 1/4 inch narrower, which makes them less good than other brands that have higher quality builds in this price range. I wish they would switch back to the original "Original" foot shape, or better yet, have actual sizes to choose from. I'm sick and tired of "wide" shoes that are only D width. I'm back to looking for a great shoe brand that wants to make great shoes.

Love the fit, but these shoe sound like a kid walking around a store/restaurant after soccer practice still wearing their cleats. I hate it. It definitely effects how often I wear them.
