I do a lot of walking every day (long walks/hikes with the dog in all kinds of weather), and was looking for a pair of shoes that could do double duty, that I could wear in all conditions for longer walks but also wear to work. This pair is perfect. Extremely comfortable right out of the box. The fact that the shoe is actually shaped like a human foot is kind of a big deal. The suede is warm in winter, and the tread is excellent for walking in snow/slush/ice. After several weeks (and a good number of miles) of wear, the quality seems excellent. I like the slightly retro/alpine style.

I wear these shoes all day long in a warehouse environment, they are fantastic. My feet have not felt this good in years.

I have been a long time wearer of Altras and have owned several pairs of Lone Peaks. I have to say how delighted I am, to see Altra creating shoes that don't just look like they were designed by/for ultra athlete types. These LP Alpines actually look more like "regular shoes," and yet retain all of the things I love about Altras! Honestly, they are almost exactly what I wanted in an upgraded Lone Peak. The interior materials are extremely comfortable, warm enough but not too warm; and even though the shoe doesn't dry as fast as the regular models, it worked well enough for me on two fairly rugged backpacking weekends in a row in Sept/October, the latter involving some snow. On the second weekend I wore these I noticed a discoloration occurring on the top of both shoes near the base of the tongue and lower part of the tongue. At first I wondered if perhaps embers from my campfire had landed on my shoes and caused the discoloration, or that I'd unknowingly spilled something--though I don't recall either happening. If they'd been burned, I would think the appearance wouldn't have been so spread out. Also the spots are in roughly same area on both shoes. I'm not sure if this was just some anomaly based on the conditions that I was in. The only downside is they looked a little more beat up than they should after only two weeks. Durability has been an issue with every pair of Altras I've owned. Honestly though, these are my favorite Altras yet. I love how comfortable they are and they look more like normal shoes so I don't feel weird about wearing them during non-athletic moments.

My husband loves these shoes, they fit him great and they feel even better when he walks in them. We were given this recommendation from a family member who does marathons and we're glad we gave them a try!

One of the most comfortable sneakers I've ever owned. Such a relief to find a Size 13 that fits without wincing.

Having worn the Lone Peak 4.5 hiking the North and South islands of New Zealand, I was hoping to find a stylish and slightly more cushioned shoe for walking around cities. These are exactly what I was hoping for. The wide toebox and traction are similar to the Lone Peaks, but definitely more stylish and slightly more coushion. There's no hanging loop on the heels and the color blocking are steps up in the style department.

Great fit. I have a wide foot and have a difficult time finding athletic shoes that fit. These shoes, 12M fit great - much wider that most other shoes. I would recommend these shoes

I'll start off with the fact that I am a hiker and not a runner so I can't comment on how Altras hold up while running but for hiking they are the BEST. I have a very wide foot and can't stand a boot of any kind so for me nothing fits and feels better than the Lone Peak series. I am currently on my third pair, the 5.0 special editions and they are my favorite yet (following the 3.0s and 4.0s) in every way possible. My feet and I love them so much that I wanted to have the comfort of Altras all the time so I just recently bought the LP Alpines for casual use and the black on black Cayds are the perfect shoe for work. Altra definitely has a lifelong customer here. Do yourself a favor and get a pair.

If they ever stop making these, I will actually be upset. Biomechanically perfect. Altra. Please maintain the access to materials and supply chain to maintain the perfection of all your perfect/near perfect models. If put in an tough position, please don't get cute and revamp the shoe with other materials/design just for the sake business goals.

Love this shoe. Dabbled in the high top offerings from Altra: the MSR and Allweather and they were good. Bought a pair of the originals and remembered why I love this brand so much. Perfect width and heel fitting!

My dream hikers would be zero drop with the durability of the Moab 2 and the tread of the King MT 1.5. These shoes are darn close and I'm loving them so far! I just used them for a 60 mile backpacking trip in the Weminuche and they held up beautifully to long miles over rocky trails, deadfall, and sharp scree. The Lone Peak tread is grippy for scrambling, though not as much as the King MT tread, so that's the only adjustment I'd make. I'm very impressed how well the lightweight upper fared in comparison with my trail runners. Sharp San Juan scree has shredded my shoes in the past, but these are built to take a beating. I'm planning to order a 2nd set.
