Finally , brooks got the cascadia right again in version 16. After 3 pairs of the 10s, two of the 11s and one of the 15, that were uncomfortable and fell apart within 100 miles, these are a very good pair of shoes. The heel and arch are snug without being tight, and the toe box is wide enough to let my toes splay out to help me keep my balance. (Isn’t that how toes are supposed to work, the outer sole is fairly wide and doesn’t choke down at the arch to leave my foot exposed to rocks and and unseen undergrowth there. Cascadia’s have alway had excellent traction and even though I felt they had adequate cushioning, these are a step up and I like it. For me it is an excellent shoe!

The Brooks Cascadia 16 is no where close to “true to size”. I ordered this shoe in size 11 and width-EE-Wide like I usually do. The Cascadia footbed was too wide and the length was about one size or more too long for my feet. I have two pair of Brooks Ghost 13 in size 11, width EE and they are perfect for my feet. I returned these Brooks Cascadia 16 in just a few hours after receiving them. Once again Zappos Customer Service is top notch. I’m shopping on Zappos right now for another pair. Just be aware that Brooks Cascadia 16 for men run larger than normal.

Fit and size were great. Frickin' Kevlar bottoms. Saved my feet on the Appalachian Trail portion of the JFK50! Awesome shoe!

Great shoe, replace the laces. Comfortable on long runs. Good protection from rocks and such. Good traction in loose, steep terrain. My one problem is the laces. They come untied once or twice on a 5k. I've owned several pair of brooks over the years and NEVER had this problem. I've even had them come undone when i double knotted them.

I really wanted to like these shoes, I loved the looks, but there were a few dings against them that swayed my decision to send them back. First, the tongue on the shoe is not very maneuverable. It is attached to the sides of the shoe, and when I would pull the shoes on or straighten the tongue I would hear some ripping sounds as though I was tearing the threads that held it in place. I feel they need to allow the tongue to open up more to accommodate a larger foot getting into the shoe. The second ding was that the tongue was not very thick and when I tied the laces it felt like they were cutting into the top side of my foot which was extremely uncomfortable. If I tided the laces looser to prevent this then I had quite a bit of heel slip. The fit was great and seemed true to size, but I couldn't see wearing these for long periods without discomfort.

I have been wearing Cascadias for around 15 years. Have worn other brands in between. Always come back to these. I'm 62 now and am a hard core hiker on long rough Southern California terrain, for a good 12 years I would trail run 2-3 days a week. The San Diego terrain is very hilly, rutted , rocky , dry and often hot. I find the Cascadia to be the perfect balance of cushion, rock protection, traction, lightweight and breath ability . The deep lugs are the best in class and the rubber compound grips great and has very good durability, the uppers have excellent breath ability .I work in a large Outdoor retailer and explain the benefits and features of these we can't get resupplied fast enough. A lot of companies are kind of gimmicky. These are tried and true year after year.

This is the first time I have purchased a pair of Brooks shoes and they feel great right out of the box. Materials are high grade and should last for a long time. Surely seem worth the price, good value.

I received these shoes four days before a technical 50K (31-mile) trail run which included asphalt, hills, sand, mud, rocks, and water crossings. I wasn't worried about wearing new shoes on this run since Brooks has never let me down as a grab and go brand. But to be safe, I made sure to have my old and well-worn Brooks at the 18-mile aid station as a backup. Because my left foot is a half size larger than my right, I always buy one size larger than I need and lace my shoes with a heel lock to prevent blackened toe nails. My new shoe felt great! The length and width were perfect as usual. The light fabric was secure and breathed well. My only issue was the tongue(s) were short and slipped to the side which put a bit of pressure on the outside of my foot. I chose to play it safe at mile 18, and switched to my old shoes to prevent an issue with the tongue but ended up with tons of blisters due to how well-broken in my old shoes were. I would have been better off wearing my new shoes the entire race. I completely recommend these shoes!

This is my first pair of Brooks. I have been wearing New Balance for the past 15 years or so. I still like New Balance, but these Brooks are the most comfortable shoe I have placed on my feet in a long time. Feels like I’m walking on air. I may have just found my new favorite tennis shoe.

This is my absolute favorite shoe! I use it as a day hiker, and my go to shoe for any trail when I'm not wearing a heavy pack. Nimble and light, tough and durable sole, excellent traction on everything. I love the stiffened heel entry as well as the lace bungee!

I absolutely love my new Brooks! It's very hard to find wide shoes on the Brooks website or at any retailer that aren't boring and very basic in color combinations. Zappos had so many wide Brooks styles that are fun and exciting! I have received many compliments when I wear my new Cascadia's and I couldn't be happier! And, they were shipped super quick! I ordered them on Monday and the estimated arrival date was Friday. I was pleasantly surprised to get them Thursday morning. I will continue to use Zappos for all my future shoes purchases

The Cascadia 16 have a firm sole which is very supportive on rocky/gravel roads. Nice trial walking shoe.

Great shoe for walking on the trail and dirt-gravel roads, good arch support with some firmness in the ball of your foot. I use these for everyday use as well as golfing.

These shoes settled in after the first run. The toe area is roomy but manageable with the lacing system, and much better than being too cramped. Been using Adidas for decades, but these have been modified so radically that none work for me anymore. Pretty happy with these shoes.

These are quite voluminous. Traction of the outsole seems good, but I'm not doing anything crazy in them because the front half of my foot is swimming. The cushion is also on the firmer side. So if you've got thick feet and need some serious support and traction, these are for you, but not for me.

I love the style and have other Brooks shoes so am usually very happy with the Brand. My reason for the lower rating is how this specific model is constructed. The tongue of the show is sewn into the shoe in a way that makes it very easy to rip. The first pair I received ripped when I tried them on. the second (replacement) pair was the same so I have to be very careful when putting them on to make sure they don't rip. I don't have this problem with any other Brooks shoes so not sure why the tongue is designed this way in this model.

Fabric on the inside of the shoe holding the tongue ripped when I first put them on poor stitching. Inside of shoe fabric is very pilly poor quality. The outside of the shoes seem well made but poor quality on the inside

I have several other pairs of Brooks (Ghost model mostly), the Cascadia run a half size larger for some reason. Great shoe for running or hiking trails.

The cascade is a great hiking and trail running shoe .I wish brooks had more colors in wide than just the one they sell but it’s a great comfortable shoe.
