I've been a long time ASICS shoe customer. I was excited when I ordered the Kayano 28s. I went and picked up from retail store and after a week of use , I can tell you that I am not a fan ! My foot creeps forward and toes get crammed and have to kick my heel back. They do not feel like they have the same support like the previous models. Sadly my KAYANO 27s have little to no tread left. I'm not sure what was changed between models , but I'd gladly trade my 28s in for a new pair of Black GEL-KAYANO 27s . I have to wear all black foot wear at work and ASICS were my go to shoes. I don't mind spending more on the better models but these GEL-KAYANO 28s missed the mark in my opinion.

Seems like the right shoe interior stabilization has collapsed. Shoes also make a squeaking sound when walking.

Bought these after wearing the regular versions. Was very disappointed. The foam wasn't nearly as good and the left and right shoes fit different. Poor craftsmanship..

I remember when I first stepped into the Gel Kayano 26, how it was just magical. I didn't realize my feet could be so ridiculously comfortable, and the shoes literally worked in any circumstance. After wearing them everyday for 1.5 years I replaced them with gel kayano 27, which were good. Not nearly the same though. I had faith in ASICS and tried again now with gel kayano 28, such a mistake. They're not uncomfortable, they just don't feel like they provide nearly enough support. Working in healthcare, I stand and walk all day every day, and then go to the gym in the same shoes. These shoes are barely adequate for that. So insanely disappointed in ASICS, and mildly angry that they won't make the wonderful old models (ie. Gel kayano 26)!!

After some 20 years of wearing Gel-Kayanos, this is the first time I have been disappointed. The fit has changed. All these years I've worn a 9.5 regular and now, suddenly, the shoe is too big. My feet are swimming and the shoes feel like a boat. I don't think my feet have changed! But your specifications for the build of the shoe - or quality control regimen!! - apparently have. It's very disappointing and shakes my confidence in ASICS.

Unfortunately, I cannot give these shoes a good review. I have owned many Asics in the past, and I have loved them. However, I ordered the extra wide, and these are still pretty narrow. They are comfortable to walk in, I only wore them around the house. However, my wife accidentally threw the tags away, so now I am unable to return them because to return them the policy says that you have to have the original tags. Stuck w shoes that don't fit lol

Comfortable but treads fell off after first use. Never had the issue before. ASICS is replacing them with a credit for me. Happy to be able to order new shoes soon.

I ordered a GEL-Kayano® 28 size 11. The tongue tag showed it was an 11 but also showed is as 43.5. I have the same show only older at a size 10.5. It shows as 44.5. How did the size 11 get smaller?

ive been running ~800miles a year for the last decade. Ive alternated between Brooks, Hokas, and Asics. Was super excited about the new Gel-Kayano 28s but was let down. 4E feels way too snug. the toe box is just wide enough, but the arch and heel are super narrow. All the cushioning seems to be at the heel with very little cushioned on the rest of the shoe. Also, one of the most annoying things is the heel/ankle opening is way too short. If you wear short socks to run, they are gonna get rolled down into the shoe. it needs to be at least an inch higher. feels like i'm running in a slip-on shoe.

While I had high hopes for these shoes they aren't working for me. Due to having PT tendontis I need to use an orthotic insert, specifically the PowerStep Protect Control. This insert adds a 2mm heel post which paired with the already big heel drop (10mm) of the Kayano makes the shoe very uncomfortable. I find there is not enough space to accommodate my foot in the shoes with this insert and the increase in heel drop is very uncomfortable, putting the feel of this shoe along the same lines as Brooks. I would love to see this shoe offered in a 8mm drop with a little more inside space to allow for inserts. I use these same inserts in GT-2000 9 shoes and it works awesome.

An extra wide is still too narrow in the toe box. I have bunions, and the shoes squeezed them.

I've been using Gel Kayano since the model 18. I always wear the same size 9.5 Wide. However, this time the show is smaller, it feels too tight, more like a regular 9.5 or even smaller. I thought it was because they were new, but I already run them for 3 weeks, 5 day of the week, for 3 to 5 miles each run, and they still feel too tight on the front and the hill, which by the way, feels like is too small for my foot. I'm not sure if Asics made some changes, but this is the very first time this happens with my Gel-Kayano. Anyway, since I already used them I can't exchange them for a bigger size. Hopefully next model feels like the prior models 26 or 27.

Have had many Kayano's over the years. Some have been excellent and some less so. These are the worst. Fit and comfort is very good, so thus the two stars, as for the cushioning they're like running on a plank. No "springiness" whatsoever, feels totally dead under the foot. I combine them with a pair of Nimbus Lite-3 (fantastic shoe!) and a pair of Novablast 1st generation (good shoe with some issues), and this one is not only less comfortable than any of the other two, but also considerably slower.

Have had numerous generations of the Kayanos over the years, and some have been better than other. Last pair - Kayano 26 - were brilliant. Comfortable and balancing cushioning and stability really well. Have been running these now for a couple of months, and they are throughly disappointing. The fit is good, no complaints there, but the sole is just not right, they feel like running on a plank. Have a pair of Novablast (1st generation so not without issues) and they are way better in every way. I have expected to alternate the shoes, mostly using the Kayanos for the long rund and the Novablasts for shorter, faster runs. With the lacking damping in these Kayanos it's ended up being the other way around - to an extent, I notice I grab the "novas" every time I plan to run more than 6-7 km. Just don't want to do that on these. So that ends it for me and Kayanos

Way tighter than a 4E should be width wise, I used to buy the Asics Foundation and other Asics shoes and they used to have real wide sizes.

These shoes have TOO much cushioning to the point they have caused hip and back pain. The Gel Kayano 25 and 26 have been my go-to shoes in the past for running, cross-training, walking, etc and worked really well for me. The previous versions provided a slightly firm and stable ride. The newest version does not work that way.
I’ve heard the more cushioned a shoe is, the more it loads or affects another part of the body. These shoes are very cushioned, especially in the outer heel and forefoot. The cushioning used for some of the shoe is FF Blast. It seems softer than the Flyte Foam used in previous versions. The inner heel and arch support is Duomax (used in previous models). It is firm and contrasts from very soft outer cushioning, which seems to make the heel less stable. Also, the insoles are a new design and are also very cushioned.
The shoe would probably be great if they were a little more firm. I liked the position of the foot within the shoe for gait. I have had knee problems in the past so I am more aware of how shoes affect other parts of the body. I had no issues with the Kayano 25 and 26 and was hoping to continue using this model of shoe, however, I will be returning the 28s due to the level of excess cushioning and the pain that seems to have occurred as a result of referred pressure. Zappos customer service as always was top notch in helping resolve the issue.

I like the shoe, typically run in a GT 2000 4E, Gives she's a try to Get another colored shoe besides gray and black. That's all 4E people can ever get. It was a similar fit and feel, a little tighter than the 2000s. My biggest complaint is that a couple of the treads are coming off before I even hit 100 miles. Not sure if it's just a one time deal with the shoe but it's a little annoying to have to superglue those down and under a month of ownership
