Disappointed. Compared to my Kahas, these have a very vague fit. The lacing holes are fine but the hooks are dreadful. The hooks lock the lace in place. Sounds good. BUT, trying to pull them through to adjust the fit ultimately makes the fit really tight and uncomfortable. Hoka! Use holes all the way up or use hooks like you have on your Kahas. A lot of bank for such an average return.

This is my first time leaving an online review for any product, but I had to for these boots due to them being one of the worst boots i've ever owned. Full disclaimer: I'm a heavy duty diesel mechanic and switched to hiking boots from work boots years ago, so I wore these daily for 30 days. Positive: First off, the Gore-Tex is a 10/5, absolutely wonderful. Wore these boots when we had the last winter storm in the north and the waterproofing did fantastic. Negative: These boots were uncomfortable from Day 1. There seems to be a design flaw, imo. It feels like the base of these boots are extremely unstable and the ankle support is overdone to compensate for the imbalance. They're extremely difficult to get on and yet it feels like you could roll your ankle at any moment when walking on gravel / concrete, I couldnt imagine running in these on a trail. Just overall a terrible feeling. I originally attributed some of it to the boots needing to be broken in - but, by day 30 these boots were completely wore out and my feet hurt to the point I couldn't stand to be in them for more than a few hours. Switched back to my On Cloudrocks that were 12+ months old and all of my pain went away after a day. I've worn Hoka running shoes for a decade, but these boots really missed the mark with what I would have expected. I've had steel toe pull on boots that were more comfortable and easier on the body than these.

The show is ok but doesn't feel comfortable. Runs big and doesn't fit my foot well.

This is fine, it's ok, gets the job done but not really flattering. Unfortunately in all respects it just pales in comparison to the Tor Ultra High. Hoka: if you are listening, stop testing the waters with new designs when you already have the greatest of all time benched in the dugout. Give the people what they want and just bring the Tor Ultra High out of retirement, make it a part of the permanent line up like the Bondi. Please!

It is difficult to find hiking boots in retail brick and mortar stores these days, so I was pleased to find the Anacapa GTX in my size online. I have old bunioned feet which love my Hoka Challenger ATR 5's for every day walking around. I expected to find a similar experience with the Anacapas for day hikes. Such disappointment! Although I ordered the same size (9.5) as all my other hiking boots, these were too narrow and way too long, with about a half inch of space in front of my toes. The fabric/GoreTex material of the top of the forefoot area was so loose that it folded up with each step. The boots sounded like I was walking in old fashioned loose galoshes. My wife commented that she wondered what the funny clomping noise was as I walking into the house. No amount of re-lacing would fix this. Returned them. At least the return process was easy.

I currently own a pair of Bondi 7 and am very pleased with these shoes. I was hoping the Anacapa boot was the same, but were not even close to the comfort of the Bondi 7. If you could make a boot with a side zipper on the Bondi 7 sole, it would be a hit with police and fire personnel. Let me know if there is already such a boot so I can tell my coworkers.

I ordered men's hoping for an ample fit, but was disappointed. The worst part is that the high ankles on these are tight and hurt my ankle so I can't wear them, or return them. Definitely a thumbs down on this shoe and this brand. I will stick to my Merrels.
I'd also recommend:

Zappos cancelled my order a week after it was placed (and after the holiday sales ended at other companies), leaving me to pay the difference for Zappos' issues.

Password to a little bit more than a year after my purchase the shoes are falling apart. The rubber on the sole is peeling at the toe and at the heel. In all fairness I am a driver for UPS so I do put a fair amount of miles on these sneakers.. however I typically only work 4 days a week and they were not my daily shoes as I had two other pairs of shoes that I swapped between..

The shoes are a real joke (but I’m not laughing). After just 14 miles the soles are disintegrating! Stay away from these shoes.

The shoes are not a size 8. They are at least a nine, they are mistaken. I have three other pairs of size 8 Hokas and these dwarf them.

Too narrow and you don't make boots in wide. Disappointed. Was also disappointed with the chat feature and contact us on your web page. Nobody answered the chat or even got on. Why have a chat featured that isn't monitored.

It's definitely not a work shoe I'm on concrete 8 to 12 hours a day I'm not impressed & they're definitely not waterproof as described. I will not buy another pair I'm going back to White Boots there waterproof & a impressive USA made company.

I have worn a hi-top paid of Hokas for years with no issues. But this pair has rubbed my ankles raw. Even wearing a higher sock didn't help. Will probably return these.

I take a 12.5 in Hoka but this model is one of 2 I have ordered that ran small. I sent it back and got a credit to my CC pretty fast but was disappointed that I was not credited back the shipping and handling.

I have purchased three pair of the HOKA Stinson boots over the past few years and loved every pair, and they were far more comfortable than the Anacapa. Please bring back the Stinson hiking boot!

I purchased these for winter hiking. When I first tried them on I noticed black threads coming out from under the toe caps. These threads make the shoes look like the toes have eyebrows. UGLY! I have purchased many pairs of shoes from HOKA with no problems but I am very disappointed with these shoes. I should have known better when HOKA discounted them and offered free shipping. I contacted HOKA about the problem which was a waste of time. DO NOT PURCHASE!!!

I have 12 pairs of Hoka shoes and 4 pairs of boots. Both the Anacapa and Kaha were disappointing. The tongue is way too short on both models.

This shoe is extremely narrow. I upsized one full size as recommended and it is still 3/4" narrower than the wide width shoes you offer. For this price point the shoe should be offered in a truly wide shoe. This shoe will be returned. I cant even wear it.

Was excited for my 2nd boot purchase, however this model had to be sent back. Top eyelets dig into the ankle making the boot uncomfortable, and ultimately unwearable. Hoping this issue is resolved for future hiking/outdoor styles.

I returned the Anacapa Mid hiking boots because I felt there was a mis stitched point of contact where the boot meets the ankle bone on the inside of the ankle. There was a bump there and I found the boot very uncomfortable in my trial. On one boot of the first pair I tried on, only one side was a problem. I thought it was just a stitching problem for that one boot. However since I had ordered 2 pair in slightly different sizes I had a second boot pair to try out and see if the problem was with it too. The second pair was a problem for me on both ankles. So I am trying the low Anacapa where the shoe comes in below the ankle bone. I'm waiting for them to arrive to try it out.
