Felt the balance of the shoe was weighted to the back of the shoe... that is, not a flat fit. Nice looking, but my balance in the shoe was undesirable.

fit fine and these shoes are very comfortable- however- the inside upper heel is tearing (no explanation) and I have had these shoes only one month

I love the Clifton series. I've gone through 9 pairs dating back the Clifton 6, but the insoles need revisiting. I wear a 2e and the insole is too narrow and makes for hot spots on my arches. I've found a fix where I use a New Balance 880 2e insole and it makes the shoe perfect. I love the new upper, it's stretchier and more breathable in the toe box compared to the 7. The tongue is too thick in this version, however, and adds unwanted heat on the top of the foot. All in all, the Clifton is my go to shoe and with a few tweaks (mainly the insole) this could be the best "wear right out of the box" shoe.

Nice, but not as comfortable as a the running ones. These were purchased for outdoor pickleball and i find myself going back and wearing the running ones. Good product which i will continue to buy, just not thst happy with the last purchase.

I was super excited to try these but their standard width is narrow. I have never worn a wide in men’s but for these I need it. A wide would have been much better, unfortunately I’ve worn them everyday for a week trying to see if breaking them in would help but nope :(, now I don’t feel comfortable returning them because I’ve worn them so much over the last week. I actually got two pairs one in a different color and the yellow seems to fit roomier so almost wondering if it is just this pair. The cushion though is superb, if it wasn’t for the width they would get 5 stars.

The sole ( mid and outer since my foot can't separate them) is much firmer than the Clifton 7, the smooth ride is replaced with a harder one and my joints don't like it! The upper has more "padding" and reminds me of house slippers, so I have to pull the laces tighter to get the shoe to fasten to my foot, so it doesn't slide around. This creates an unbalanced feel. So hard sole and unbalanced makes for an uneasy ride. The diagonal positioning of the outer sole pads throws the rocker off and it's something you have to deal with, does not enhance the running, but works against it. A huge difference from the smooth riding Clifton 7. Hopefully this will get fixed in Clifton 9.

These fit well. I have a wide foot and high arch. So fitting is a big deal. They rocker motion is great too. However, I tend to walk on the outside of my feet and these accentuate that a lot. So they had to go back.

This is a bit of a conflicting review but I enjoy running in these shoes but the pair I got seem to be made poorly. Only one of the shoes seems to be an issue, however. The left shoe's insole/base arch is different than the right and feel like it bulges (like a piece of plastic pushing up) more than the other. At first, I thought I just needed to break in the shoes for a few runs but it is clear that something is wrong with the shoe. It's not so uncomfortable that it made me return the shoes right away but now I'm wishing I had because I think I got a bad pair. Now that I've ran in them for a few weeks it's probably highly unlikely I can return them but this will make me think twice about buying another Hoka pair to be honest.

Loved the Clifton 7 but that model seems to be discontinued so I tried out the Clifton 8. Felt a full size bigger and my heel kept slipping out. Also didn’t seem to have the arch hugging support that the Clifton 7 had.

I bought this shoe in a 7.5 mens. That is the size I buy routinely in quality running shoes, for work. This shoe was too narrow for me. When I tried to exchange it, I was informed that it was not available in a wide size. I'm disappointed. I could tell by trying it on that it has the kind of support I need for my over-supinating. My account was credited promptly, but I'm back to trying to find a brand that offers the same type of support in a wide shoe.

I actually didn't try these on. Once I saw them in person, I didn't care for the color.

These are amazingly comfortable and feel great, but these are NOT black! The sole is definitely gray - I took a shot at ordering these thinking the pictures were just in weird lighting but black is definitely an inaccurate description of the color. I love the fit of these way more than the Clifton 7 but I ended up buying those since they are actually black (and I want these to be a low key sneaker that doesn't look too technical). Please fix this with the next revision and I'll buy a ton of them!

Hoka changed the Clifton 7 to Clifton 8 and made them wider. Too wide. Not very supportive.
I'd also recommend:
yes, but not this option

The materials are very light and a bit too elastic for good support. The whole shoe is too long in comparison with other brands of the same type of shoe of same size.

My husband likes how the shoes feel, they are supportive and very comfortable BUT after 3 weeks of daily wear they are now making a loud squeaking sound when he walks which is driving him crazy so we may return them. I'm not sure if I just have a defective shoe or if it's a design flaw. I'm try to exchange and see if a new pair fixes the issue. If it does then I would recommend this shoe based on the comfort but for now I have to rate this as a don't recommend.

Ordered extra wide. The midsection cuts into my feet. The toebox is fine, the look of the shoe is fantastic, but I just can’t stand them cutting into the middle portion of my foot.

Shoe was just to big. But that's to be expected when you change brands and try something new. The reason I gave 3 stars is that I received the complete wrong product. Ordered a 11.5 men's shoe and received a size 8 women sandals. No idea how this happens but when the product doesn't arrive with a shipping order or any type of receipt it's frustrating. I called hoka and a very nice clear English speaking person answered. She was able to make a refund, which I received in a couple days. So my feelings are mixed but I can't complain about the customer service at least.

I am disappointed with the Clifton 8 vs. the Clifton 7. The Clifton 8 is not as well made as the Clifton 7 because if runs a half size bigger, it does not lace the same way as the 7 (runner's lace and extra islet near the toe box) and it does not have the extra layer of material around the toes for durability. I would return the Clifton 8s but I have tried to talk myself into liking them as much as I liked the 7s. Instead, I gave them to my daughter who wears a half size bigger than me and ordered 2 pairs of Clifton 7s...to stock up, while they last.

Apparently Hoka are notorious for running late in size. Unfortunately, I was not aware of this when I ordered the size that I wear in literally every other brand and was disappointed when they didn't fit. I ended up returning them and buying at my local store. Still great sneakers, just a frustrating experience.

I've been a faithful clifton runner since version 3. My favorite version being 7. the 8 has not lived up to the hype. The foam is great, but the upper has little to be desired. it seems "loose" and the tongue is way to big. Hoka should go back tot he drawing board on this upper, and tighten the top up. I might have to try the Mach 4 otherwise..

Training for Columbus Marathon, have ran in the Clifton shoes for years. Still have soft ride, however shoes are starting to cause hot spots and extreme rubbing. Never experienced this with Clifton 7's. Same mileage and frequency.
