The Bondi felt great. My struggle comes from Hoka in general. I have plantar fasciitis so when I find a shoe/brand that works for me I stick with it. The first Hoka's that I ever tried was the Hoka Carbon X2 and I was hooked! I put many many miles on a couple pairs of them. But when they switched models, and I ordered the Carbon X3... everything changed. Not only the look but the way the arch fits the foot etc. I have tried the Carbon X3, Clifton 8, Bondi X... it's crazy that each one of these fit so completely differently than the other. That normally doesn't happen, I ran in Brooks for years, went through multiple versions of Ghost and Adrenalin and the arch/fit was always consistent. Now I attempt to find a new shoe that doesn't cause me to limp the day after a run. In the meantime I'll be in a worn out pair of X2's.

I've wanted to wait a few months and get a few miles in on my new Hoka Bondi X before leaving a review. It's been about two months and I've put about 75 running miles on them, and the two biggest bugaboos I'm facing are the tongue and the heel collar.
I've owned the Bondi 7's for a couple years now, and I'm not exaggerating when I say they changed my life. I was going through so much knee pain, back pain, and supination painbut those coupled with a rigid insole made almost all those problems go away. So I was thinking the Bondi X would be an upgrade with the carbon plate.
It definitely feels more rigid than the Bondi 7, but that's not a complete deal breaker. The tongue is an issue. It's incredibly thin and almost non-existent. It constantly gets bunched and pinched when I tie my shoes, I feel the laces through it, and after only 75 miles the fabric is starting to rub off. I'm not even a competitive runner. For the amount paid this is extremely disappointing.
And the heel collar is relatively low compared to the other Bondi's, so much so that it almost feels like my heel is coming out unless I tighten it up real nice.
Is it as life changing as the 7's? No. I kind of wish I had bought those instead. But like I said, I was also under the impression these were the next step up; but I'd hesitate to buy them again and would recommend others to definitely try them on before buying.

Have ran about 60 miles in shoes. The shoe feels bigger than previous hokas of the same size. Not as plush as I thought they would be. Just not sure about shoes yet.

I have a narrow foot. I need a shoe with a narrow heel. The bonding x has a narrow heel which is good. I have a Mormons neuroma on my left foot. I had the envelope deaden a few years ago. The toe box is a little small for my left foot. I have to be very careful how I lace the left foot. Theshoe is comfortable on my right foot. Therefore for the reason I've stated I probably would not buy this model shoe again. Does hoka have a model shoe with anarrow heel and a little wider toe box? Thanks

Don't get me wrong, they are comfy. But....ever since the Bondi 6, the Plush Hokas no longer seem to feel PLush to me. Crocs changed their flip-flop formula, they were never the same. Pampered Chef changed their spatula material, never the same. Again, they are comfortable, but no longer feel like the cloud I once walked on. And, I went the extra mile(dollar) to purchase the X. Just my humble opinion.

Color choices for this shoe are very limited... 1) black or white, or 2) feminine pastels. I bought this shoe two years ago, loved the absorption performance for my knees and back. A great shoe for function, terrible for aesthetics.

SOme models of shoes don't say whether they come in a wide sole, or a regular sole,l nor does it tell me what to expect if it doesn't specify the width. Yet other models specifically call out that they offer a wide width.
My challenge is that Bondi "regular" width used to be just fine for me, but now I need a wide when available. So if it doesn't specify the width at all, I thought, maybe it will be wide enough like it used to be? It wasn't. All I would like to see specific details saying "Available in regular width only" if that's the case. I found a Gaviota in wide that fits perfectly. TO be clear, I've bought a dozen pair of Hokas in the past four plus years, and I love them! I just would like more clarity on the listings on the website.

Owning 6 pair of Bondi with great satisfaction, I decided to try the X to see if the carbon plate would give me more spring. It does! But there's a huge problem with this shoe if you're a triathlete and use tieless shoe laces. The tongue is so flimsy and paper-like that it bunches up when you try to put the shoe on. And it's so thin that it's hard to grasp and pull up when you're in a hurry during transition for triathletes. Precious time is wasting (and so is energy trying to pull up the tongue and situate it flat on your foot). It's too bad. I liked the show when I was running. But putting it on fast is too troublesome. Great show for runners but not designed for triathletes.

My wife and I decided to try the Bondi X. They are not the right fix for us, but we decided to keep and continue to use just to be fair. However, we would not purchase again. The thinner and shorter togue really takes away from the comfort we feel we have with Bondi 8. We run and walk daily, so the shoes really get a workout and just after a week is showing a lot of wear on the soles. The togue also tend to bleed dye and stained our socks.

But the Bondi X fell a little short for me. I run in Bondi 8s and ADORE them, and I looked at the Bondi X and thought, "All of the comfort and support of the 8, but with added performance? Sign me up." Well they arrived, looked beautiful, fit perfectly, and did indeed feel like a higher performing shoe. I felt like there was more return energy in my stride, and the shoe has a lighter feel to it (though I don't actually know if it's any lighter than the Bondi 8. Here's where the shoe fell short, after the first few hundred yards, I could immediately tell the difference in cushion and support. I'm 6'4" and a heavier set runner, and my knees, hips, and ankles know immediately when they're not getting the same cushion they're used to. This truly is a great shoe, but not for a middle-aged larger runner like me.

I had expected a typical 9.5 and seems lime an 11. Also width sent was a D and not a B. Just too big and unable to properly guage the comfort

These and the bondi's are both amazing shoes. Only issue is with the upper mesh. I go through a pair of these every 3-4 months. Last 2 pairs of Bondi X my foot has burst through the side after about 3 months.
I'm a pretty big guy, and I'm just assuming they don't really make these for guys who are 6'4" 240lbs doing explosive lateral movements. If they just made the upper a little more durable they'd be the best shoe on the market.

Fit forces me to walk and run with the outside of my feet causing pain into my knees. Same model I bought previously were my favorite. Something is different like too much cushion on the inside.

I have (3) different pairs of Hoka's. Was super excited about these because of the thick sole and propulsion characteristics people raved about. My issues is the fit is narrow and the back of the shoe really slips off my heel. I have to ratchet these babies down hard which isn't comfortable either. Hoping they break in but so far not happening.

The product and cushion is a 5 stars. If you are the type of person like to put your foot in the shoes and go, you would not like this shoe. If you are type of person like to sit, untie the shoe lace, put your foot in, then tie the shoe lace, then this shoe is for you. The reason why the foot in shoes and go doesn't work is the middle part of the shoes would go straight down your toes. There isn't even a bunny ear flap for you to hold to prevent it from going down to you toes.

It's a little bit more cushioned than the Bondi 7, but not by much. The tongue is too short why they did that makes no sense. Also, it doesn't come all black if you want black you have to have a white sole ugh.

Its big, its colorful, its pretty darn expensive.
The good: I was concerned with the weight, but its really not that noticeable. Plush but not overly soft. Decent tread. They have the good laces that are also included on the Speedgoat.
The bad: It's a really big sole, that feels like it gets in the way. The tongue requires long socks since it will rub. The biggest gripe is that you can't feel the spring from the carbon plate.
Only reason I chose these was because I won them through a local shoe store. I do not think they're worth the money and wouldn't purchase on my own.

Poor SupportGreat Support
My doctor recommended Hokas for a stress fracture in my right foot because Hokas have excellent support. While this is true, I didn’t like the Bondi X at all. They felt and looked big and clunky, and I was afraid that the thick platform could cause me to turn my ankle or fall. I had ordered and kept the Bondi 7 which have a lower base and feel less clunky but I can’t say I love wearing them, and I don’t appreciate the big Hoka logo on the shoe. They do support my foot very well. So there’s that.
I'd also recommend:

I'm confident this shoe is excellent for a runner. However, I bought it is a general purpose shoe. The extended heel is awkward and catches when I exit my SUV. I also thought the color in your ad appeared to be more gold, but is bright yellow. I love your shoes, especially other Bondi models, but not a fan of Bondi X.

I expected something different from this shoe. I have had good luck with the Carbon series especially the X2 and X3 but the Bondi X rocker plate seems amiss. Instead of a nice forefoot strike that I get from the Carbon X2 and X3, the Bondi X has me landing sloppily in the midfoot with little spring effect from the carbon plate. I have modified the Bondi X with an insert and creative surgery to the sockliner and that helps a bit to raise the heel so that the bias is more towards a forefoot strike. As it is I don't think that the Bondi X contributes what it should to the product line, which would be an everyday trainer with some speed.

Beautiful and totally comfortable shoe, except impossible to easily lace, and untie and remove, due to "buried" tongues that almost can not be retrieved and laced.
I have purchased 20 pairs of HOKA' including 7 Bondi's
