I've had these shoes for about 6 months wearing them 1-3 times a week. Before I bought these, all I heard about AE was how comfortable and high quality they are. These feel like they've never broken in, it's like walking on concrete, and they crease and press on the top of my big toes and rub my feet raw there. I keep wearing them because I'm hoping they still need to break in, but I lose hope every time I wear them

I bought a pair of Park Avenues following a recommendation by a colleague. The build quality seemed promising at the first glance.
Right after purchasing, I have been discovering heavy, asymmetric glue traces on the edges of the sole inside the shoe. This white glue is very solid and spreads on the sole. Even after wearing multiple times my toes hurt.
The leather does not seem to adapt to my feet at all. While it stays too narrow around the toes, my ankle in the back is becoming more loose.
Due to these issues, I am disappointed with the quality. I do not see the price tag in line with what the product delivers.

I have had my black Park Avenues for just about a year now and wear them about once or twice a week. I take great care not to wear them on consecutive days or on a wet surface in order to keep the quality of the shoe and work in an environment with carpeted floors so they don't see much rough surface. However, one of the shoe's has already work through to the cork near the ball of my foot and will need re-crafting. I understand that leather soles will not hold up as well as rubber but I surely expected them to last longer than a year for the price I paid for these shoes and what it costs to re-craft them. I love the look of the shows and they are extremely comfortable, but I just don't know if it would be worth the investment in the future if they need to be re-crafted this quickly.

One year 2-3 times a week wearing and the bottom of one shoe came off in the front. I am an insurance guy, not hard wearing.
My florsheims lasted 3 years....was told by customer service they needed to be recrafted. I spent enough already thanks

was very excited about the shoe ahead of buying, thought it fit well, turned out to be too narrow of a fit for my foot (sales person should have given better guidance) and had to have it repaired 2x for sole and stitching on the left foot.
I walk a lot and given my foot width, it wore out the show within 2-3 months of purchase. Since then I have been reluctant to purchase a different style, though I do think they are high quality shoes, i dont want to risk more $$$.

These shoes are the most comfortable pair of dress shoes I've ever owned. I've had foot pain for the last few years and when I wear these shoes, even without my orthodics, my feet feel fine even after a long day on my feet. The only disappointing thing is that the piece of rubber on the bottom of the heel has begun to separate. I wear these shoes every few days and this started within the first few weeks of wearing. It's the only thing that is keeping me from giving these shoes a 5/5.

Similar to another review I've seen on this website, one of my Park Avenues is simply falling apart. The heel broke apart, and the rubber fell off. I've had to have these repaired already. (Locally, not by AE - as I'm not paying for a complete refurb less than 1 year in)
That aside, they're comfortable, and the other shoe seems okay. The utter lack of durability in the problem shoe, however, is disappointing.

This was my first pair of Allen Edmonds purchased in the winter of 2010. I wore them for about two months 3 times a week or so to work. After spending most of 2011 in Afghanistan I rejoiced in coming home to something other than boots and began to wear them again along with a second pair of Allen Edmonds purchased on my return. However, after only about 6 months of wear 3 days a week and meticulous care including Allen Edmonds shoe tree use it is disappointing that one of the heels(rubber part) is detaching. I don't think this is normal wear and tear, but more a defect in the way the rubber was attached to the heel. I still have plenty of sole left and the shoes should not be in need of a recrafting after less than a year of wear. I hope this problem does not occur in my second pair of Allen Emonds.

I purchased in the merlot, siz 13B....took 6 weeks to receive but I was excited base on all the reviews....when they finally arrived, quality of the leather was great, but disappointed in the quality control....on the left shoe, the lace holes did not match up evenly, made the apperance unappealing...so for my first experience with a-e I was disappointed....returned shoes, only to find out it will take 6 more weeks to replace....

I was really hoping to love this shoe over the J & Ms I have been wearing for years. I've had the shoes less than a month and already the heel is starting to come unglued and they don't shine up as well as the J&Ms. For the price I was expecting more. I'll give it some more time but I'm a little disappointed.

This is my fifth pair of AE oxfords and possibly my last. I have not purchased a new pair in about 5 years and I can state without a doubt that the quality has gone down. I have purchased AE shoes for the last 20 years and refuse to own any other brand, but this purchase has me considering switching. The leather is tougher/harder to break in, the small details within the shoe are missing and the inside sole has changed to a lower grade leather slab. I am extremely disappointed in my purchase. The sad part is I have worn them about four times in hopes they would break and fit just a little better. That was my mistake. AE needs to go back to focusing on their bread and butter, the dress oxford. I don't mind paying the price, but I expect a step above the other "American" brands.

I'll preface this by saying I have two pairs of Park Aves. First pair I bought was a black one four years ago that have held up great. Stitching is good, and the bottoms have held up well. I value a solid shoe that will last a while, and I was really happy with the purchase.
So naturally when I needed a new pair of brown shoes, I gravitated towards another pair of Park Aves, which I was embarrassingly excited about getting. Ogled them for months before finally taking the plunge. Two months in though and I honestly feel let down. They fit fine and the tops are good, but the biggest thing was the stitching on the bottoms. I noticed when I purchased them that it was sitting a little shallow in the groove going around the shoe (To the point that it was level to the leather bottom, and almost poking out), though I didn't think too much of it at the time. Fast forward a month and a half and it was completely exposed and worn away on one side, and it looks like its about to happen on the other shoe too. I don't know what the implications of that are in regards to the performance of the shoe, but I can imagine I'm probably going to have to get them re-soled much earlier than needed. I would also note that the materials used on the bottoms appear to be much softer than my other pair, as it more easily indents (both the leather and rubber sole), but that is not as big of a problem as the stitching.
I just don't understand how my four year old pair has held up better in that time than my new pair has in two months. I would sum up my feelings with the parental quip of "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed". I just expected a bit more in terms of quality here.

I purchased a pair of cap toes a month ago, upon closer inspection during shining I noticed the stitching in the welt wasn't consistent. There's also a big mark where the leather meets the sole. The quality rumors are true. It's my first pair of AE and it's not the most memorable. Very sad indeed....

The walnut color I ordered arrived and is indistinguishable from other shoes in Dark Chili. The walnut belt I ordered with the shoes is a completely different color still. Very disappointed,

Received shoes with a very noticeable chip on the outer edge of the heel of one of the shoes. No color difference so it wasn't damaged in shipping, or from me wearing and damaging the shoes (i had not worn them outside, and just had them on long enough to ensure they fit well). Noticed it right before we got to the event that I specifically bought these shoes for. Really like the color and the quality of the leather, and like that the company is here in America. Just disappointed that such a good company would let these be shipped to a first time customer, not sure if I would recommend buying online. Since I have already worn them I won't try to return the shoes, but if you buy online just make sure to inspect them as soon as you receive them. Hopefully you will not have the same experience I had.

This is my third pair of Park Avenue shoes, however, my first online purchase due to distance to a store. This pair is very different than the last two in many ways. There was a VERY rough area in the interior up in toe area, just under where your small toe is. I took the shoes to a trusted shoe repair shop, and was told it was glue that should have been removed. Whatever it was, it took a long tool to scrape it smooth. I have always ordered a B width, even though they are tight at first. This pair look and feel smaller and tighter than ever. My foot has not changed. If anything, its smaller. The shoe even appears "narrower and slimmer" than before. There is much discomfort in wearing these shoes, especially on the left shoe, just outside the left small toe.
The soles of the shoes are different. The toes rise up very high compared to the past ones. The shoe guy told me it has a small heel for a taper curve like that. Anyway, the curve is enough to make an unusual "2 thump" per shoe sound when walking on a wood floor.
So, I'm wearing them, thinking I can break them in and improve most of this. However, after several weeks, I'm not there yet. They are still painful. Not happy with online. Will never order this way again!

I have owned and enjoyed a number of pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes over the year including a pair of the Park Avenues. Sent this pair back because they were no where near the quality my previous AE shoes. Heel was not set properly on left shoe. Left and right shoes were almost 1/4" different in length (this is a lot in a shoe). I have older factory senconds from AE that were better built.

I purchased these shoes in February 2016 and thought they'd be extremely fine for everyday wear. When I tried to polish them I found the creases in the shoes wouldn't allow me to get the high polish I was hoping for. The only area that does achieve the mirror polish is in the toe. The rest of the shoes show many dimpled areas and the creases in the shoes allow me to only buff it to a dull sheen. For the money I paid I would expect them to look brand new, but these really look like a used pair even though I've only had them four months. The shoes appear to be able to last for a long time, but in the future I'll be more selective when purchasing any more products from your company.

I have had this shoe for about 6 months now but have only worn them less then a dozen times. The shoes crease badly, even when using the Allen Edmonds shoe trees. I have a pair of shoes from another maker that I paid 1/2 of the cost of these shoes and they have worn 100% better. I feel that I have been fairly careful with these shoes but the quality is not what I would expect - soles, leather, etc. They looked good right out of the box but now I am questioning why I paid $400 (including tax) for shoes that will sit in my closet and not see the light of day. I wish they were returnable.

I have 6 different styles of Allen Edmonds and decided to buy the Park Avenues. Great looking shoe, but they hurt my feet.. Every time I wear them the bottom of my foot is killing me. Going to give to my son or friend. Its an expensive uncomfortable shoe.

I had sent my first pair back due to the color which was not well represented on the web. When I got the replacement pair I was astounded to find a large lump on the outside of the R shoe. It was even somewhat discolored compared to the rest of the shoe. It was obvious enough that I couldn't believe someone actually put it in the box for a customer and actually thought no one would notice. I felt embarrassed for the Allen Edmonds more than anything else. I sent them back as well.

I finally purchased a pair of Park Avenues for a cleaner, and more subtle look after owning several pairs of Strands and McAllisters. The 65 last fits like a glove, is the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn, and pretty much the only dress shoe I wear anymore. Unfortunately, it was extremely disappointing when after the first time wearing the Park Avenues "sitting in the office" there was a crease across the vamp of one shoe, and a crease forming on the cap-toe of the other. After wearing the shoes a third time the creases on both were significant.
None of the Strands or McAllisters I own have creased in the manner the pair of Park Avenues have creased. Well worn pairs I have worn for years have far less if any creasing, and look like the well crafted pairs of shoes they are. Due to the condition of the Park Avenues they'll probably never be taken out of the bag, shoetrees removed, and worn.

Love the looks but it's painfully uncomfortable. I first tried 8d which was great on toes but too broad in the back. I then changed for 8c which is great at back but too narrow on toes. Not sure if it's my toes or the shoes

I received a pair of Park Avenues from Christmas. I had to return the shoes three times which is unacceptable. Two of the four pairs should have been marked as seconds in my opinion. The first pair had color striping issues. The second pair had severely assymetric toe caps. The third pair had tanning issues. The final pair just met my expectations although the toe caps were more assymetric than I liked.
After one wear, the outer left upper quarter is severely creased. I have cheaper competitor shoes in my closest that I wear when it rains that have little to no creasing in the same area. I'm trying to figure out how to salvage the shoes at this point. A coworker noticed the creasing during a meeting and brought the issue to my attention. Slightly embrassing to say the least when the shoes are brand new.
Leather creases. That's life. I'm just disappointed with these shoes creased so badly after one wear. Perhaps I should have conditioned and polished the shoes before the first wear to help minimize this issue.
