I see all these reviews complaining about how uncomfortable these shoes are, but I've had mine for about 3 months and after the break in, they're extremely comfortable! I have one other pair of Allen Edmonds shoes and while the Park Avenue isn't as comfortable as the other pair (the other pair is also older), they're still my go-to pair of black shoes. What's even better is that these shoes seem to have worn less quickly than my other pair - it seems they're built to last. The only issue I had was the width - they were much too narrow when I got them and I didn't notice it until I started wearing them to work, but after they broke in a bit, they're closer to my other pair of AE's and feel just fine.

I bought these for work, and while I really like the look of them, I was poorly fitted in the AE store and ended up with a shoe that's too large for me after I broke them in. I went back in and was given toe pads, but that still hasn't solved the issue 100%. Truly my fault for not realizing in advance that it would be an issue, but still a bit frustrating. The quality and look of the shoe is great though, and this hasn't deterred me from buying several other pairs of AE shoes (just in a smaller size).

I have owned the Park Avenue shoe for several years and found them to be an excellcent dress shoe. I am able to wear them walking a manufacturers show all day on your feet. Thank you

I wear these shoes to work everyday. They are very comfortable and look great. They have help up great over the years. I haven't had to have them refurbished yet and I've had them for 4 years. I'm a customer for life.

These shoe have a classic style and the materials and craftsmanship are top notch. After a short break in period these shoes are comfortable.

I have been wearing Allen Edmonds shoes for years. My favorite fit is with the Park Avenue. Unfortunately, while the shoes look great the quality has never been up to the standard of many of the other Allen Edmond shoes. In particular, the heel rubber has peeled off of my last 4 pairs over the past several years. Even my recrafted pair peeled within a year. I have still continued to buy these though as they are the most comfortable black pair of dress shoes I have ever found. I am moving to some of the cordovan's as the heel design removes the peeling issue. I don't really understand why AE hasn't fixed the heel issue given the many complaints about it I have heard for years.

This pair of shoes are very confortable for walking while looking dignified in a business suit or casual. The leather is soft and easy to care for. ,I usualy get rid of my shoes after six months use but since I have been buyng AE shoes I have kept them for many years and have sent a pair to be refurbished. It came back as new as the day I bought it. truly worth the purchase price!

Have purchased and enjoyed three pairs of Park Avenues, two black and one British tan. I resoled all three pairs several times and still have two in circulation. The shoes fits well and feels good, even after a long day on my feet. I particularly liked the shoe's relative softness compared to other brands that remain stiff, even after a year's wear.

Not my luck ordering AE shoes so far this year batting 0 for 3 with Delray, Weschester and Park. I am baffled after measuring my feet with guide I am supposedly below a D so I ordered Park and Delray at the same time 6.5 D and I needed E instead. Beautiful shoes but if they are too tight you are out of luck. I am very close to a good fit as in the morning I am OK then in the afternoon shoes simply hurt. With Weschester I improved ordering E but no luck as the top is so tight and no laces so they are even worse. So far very frustrating, I love the Strand but now I am not so sure when with other brands I do not have any issue with fit.

The black captoe is a business staple. Allen Edmonds' interpretation holds to the formula and is a very respectable shoe. The main concern is qualityafter wearing these once, it was obvious that a few sections of leather were not up to standard. A quarter (area directly below the ankle) of one shoe and the throat (where the toes begin) of the other were very thin, dried-out leather. A good application of conditioner stopped them from deteriorating further, but for a shoe that I intended to wear rarely for formal occasions only, it's disappointing to have them look well-used after maybe half a dozen wears. Of course, I should have inspected these closely before wearing, but they looked fine at first glance. They are good shoes otherwisejust be sure to inspect VERY closely before wearing.

Just received a pair of park avenues. Surprised to see that they came with cotton shoe bags...in a good way of course. Based on the AE interactive fit guide, my width was a W9-WA 10, which coordinated with a 10E, but upon fit, the shoe felt a bit tight in that regard. For those of you with wide feet, I suggest ordering the next width larger (i.e. if you are traditional an E, get the EE).

I've been a HIGE AE fan for some years but the only problem I've had is that I've lost weight over the last 5-6 years to the tune of over 50lbs...but it's funny where you lose weight! I've got from a 10.5-E to a 10-E and now looks and feels like a straight 10-D! First of all I can't afford to replace all of my collection unfortunately and have given most of my 10.5-E's away. My 10-E's feel like my feet are sliding around quite a bit so I've gone to a straight 10-D. But since I've got into a 10-D, the sizing has been hit and miss depending on the last! I recently bought these from a store in Waterloo, Ontario... They look great but I'm not thrilled with the overall quality! They don't feel 100% like my other pieces, despite the uncertainty about the sizing! Hopefully this is an anomaly!! I wonder if I sent in my favourite shoes for redrafting if AE could turn my 10-E into 10-D's???

This shoe is a classic. It looks great. I ordered it in 13 EEE and it feels fairly comfortable.

I was looking for a relatively plain dress shoe and this one fit my needs perfectly. Plenty of room and width. Seems very durable.

Great looking shoe - classic and timeless. Quality seems to be top end and after sales service is splendid. Shoe size seems to run a bit large, though not too much (by 0.5). Width is as described. Some improvements I would love to see: 1) shoe spoon included in the package, 2) instructions on how to take care of shoes.

These are my primary black dress shoe. Very comfortable out of the box and improves as you wear. They are fairly sturdy thus far and look great with proper care (polish + shoe trees).

elegant pair of shoes, I like the style - plain & simple, no fancy decor. usually wear them them at evening occasions (theatre concertos etc.), sometime in office - only when the wheather is dry ! the only problem: my pair of size 12 C is a bit too narrow.

The PA is a classic. I love the look, but wish the 5 last was a little more comfortable. I needed to size down a half size and up a width to get a footbed that didn't have my toes resting on an uncomfortable part of the shoe. After the cork broke down a little bit, these became much more comfortable. This is a solid shoe that everyone should have in their closset, but you just might have to try on a few sizes to get the right fit.

This is a great pair of shoes. It is slightly narrow compared to other shoes I've had and it takes a few days to break in. However after that it is very comfortable to wear. As a matter of fact, I have already successfully pursuaded a few friends to buy it.

I have two pairs of AE shoes: The Strand and Park Avenue. The park avenue has a nice clean and formal look that works for almost any occasion. They are a great shoe and I get compliments all the time. I would definitely recommend trying them on at a store before making a selection on size/width because I got a size 10D and normally size 10 shoes fit fine but these felt like they ran a bit big. The recrafting service for a nominal fee makes these shoes and all AE shoes for that matter a no-brainer. You can make your shoes look as close to new as possible for years and years of use.

The Park Avenue is "the" dress shoe. It is wonderfully formal and is the perfect shoe to wear with a suit or smart trousers. My favorite part of the shoe is that it is made from calf skin instead of corrected grain leather like so many other dress shoes. As a result, it looks natural and develops character instead of looking plastic.

I'm not sure what I can say about these shoes that hasn't already been said, but, simply, they are the very definition of men's dress shoes. This was the first real pair of dress shoes I bought. My father wore them all the time, and it just seemed normal to me when looking for quality shoes - if you want good dress shoes, get yourself some Allen Edmonds. When considering a basic pair of black dress shoes, this is the only one that seemed appropriate. The quality of the shoe simply cannot be bettered at any price. Fully handmade (USA!) and timelessly-styled. They are more comfortable than some athletic shoes I own. At the end of the day, everything else may be achy and tired, but my feet simply feel normal. No pain, no rubbing, no reason to complain. That's really the best compliment I can give them. You may have 1000 things to worry about, but I guarantee your feet will not be one of them. The only issue you may have with them is the sizing, which tended to run long and very narrow for my 11.5D feet. My perfect size ended up being a 10.5EEE, which fits like a glove. The bewildering variety of sizes they offer should be sufficient to fit any man. I cannot recommend these enough. They're a sound investment you'll depend on for literally the rest of your life. Doesn't get better than that.
