I purchased these boots for myself. I typically wear a women's size 6 1/2 and the kids size 4 fit me better than any of the women's sizes. They look just like the adult version. They keep my feet warm and dry. I would definitely recommend.

My 11 & 9 year old girls love their new boots. They are super comfortable and warm they report. They are so practical up here in New England.

I usually wear a women's 7.5 and the size 4 fits great. If I want to wear thicker socks, I usually take out the insole. I only wish they made the kids model with a navy rubber part.

I've wanted a pair of these forever. I was always scared to buy because of how odd the sizing seems to be. I wear a 6 or 6.5 normally in regular shoes. I ordered the size 3 and they fit perfect. People seemed to have mixed experiences but hopefully this will help you!

I wear a women's size 6 boot and a size 4 in these kids boots, with plenty of room for socks. These are amazing boots of the highest quality. They even keep my feet warm in some of Denver's coldest winter days! They still look brand new and I'm sure I'll get many, many years out of these boots! Love 'em!

I love these boots so much they are well-made but run big. I wish there were half sizes because I'm in between, I need a 2 1/2 in a boy size so unfortunately they are not right for me. Please L.L. Bean add 1/2 sizes!!

After reading a lot of reviews for Girls and Womens versions regarding sizing and others' advice, I bought a Girls 4 for my wife who wears a 6 standard width. Fit is perfect even with the insulation which is minimal (Thin--sulate for a reason) --but with thick socks it keeps her feet warm for casual outside activity even these past few weeks when temps in NJ were in the teens with snow. Build is what you expect from a Legend. Happy LL Bean ramped-up production this season because these usually sell out by early November.

These boots speak for themselves regarding quality, so I will focus this review on fit because that's what I struggled with trying to figure out. I wear a women's sz 6-6.5 with a normal width foot. After reading all of the reviews here on fit, I headed to the only store near us as the size 4 online was backordered until March. I thought for sure that size would fit perfectly (as did the salesperson), but my toes were right up against the edge. The sz 5 was right on and felt like a comfortable width. I also figured I should try on the ladies boots while I was there so I could see if I had more options. The women's boot with thinsulate was too small and narrow in sz 6, while the basic boot (I tried the bison boot) was too big in the same size. Go figure! The thinsulate seems to make a big difference when determining the size to buy. The boot feels really comfortable on, although they are a bit difficult to get on/off. I think this will improve as the leather breaks in. I'm glad I was able to try them on, but I know not everyone lives near one of their locations. HTH!

The grandson hasn't worn anything else since Christmas Day.I was a little hesitant of paying that price for a kids boot but it seems to have worked out. He is not a fast grower so they may last two years at least.

I received my boots today after I finally ordered a pair. I ordered a kids 4. I wear a 5.5 in women's tennis shoe and a 5 in a dress shoe. These fit perfectly. I have room for thicker socks and yet sport socks are just fine. Hope this helps if you are reading reviews on sizing!

I have wanted a pair of these for a long time. It seems every time I would start to order them, they were backordered. Well, I finally ordered them in August and got them. I wear a 5.5 so I ordered a kids size 3. When I first put them on they seemed a bit narrow but I kept them. I finally got to wear them during a rainy camping trip and they broke in easily. I wore thinner socks at first but now can wear a thicker sock and they are very comfortable. I just wish LlBean would make either more color options for kids sizes or make size 5 in the adult boots. Would love some of the small batch boots but the adult size 6 is just too large.

A great promo and lots of rewards helped me nab these boots for an amazing deal! I ordered the boots very late on a Friday and received the following Tuesday afternoon. Awesome turn around!! The boots were better than I expected. Extremely comfortable and definitely feel built to last. Though some breaking in is necessary for the leather on the top of your foot, the fit seems pretty true. I am usually an 8.5 or 9 in Women's. Based on the size down guidance for the Women's boots, I decided to try out the Kid's size 6. If you like wearing super thick socks, I would not recommend this method of sizing. For regular socks though, the fit is perfect. Thank you Kathi for my handmade boots! Looking forward to the cooler weather.

Others have already commented on the wonderful quality of these boots, so this review is for sizing only. I am a dead-on Womens 6 in street shoes, so after reading all of the helpful reviews, I ordered a Kids 3. They fit me perfectly when wearing mid-weight merino hiking socks, with a little room to spare. A 4 would have definitely been too large. For reference, I compared the insoles of a Kids 3 and a Women's 6 Bean Boot (the Shearling-Lined version)see photo. The Kids insole measures 8 5/8", and the Women's insole is 3/8" longer, at 9". The Womens Bean Boot was far too roomy for me, so I'm stoked that the Kids 3 works great.

I usually wear a 5 in sandals and a 6 in sneakers and boots, and got a 4 in these boots. These are my second pair, the first pair I bought were the dark brown ones from 2014 (which are still in excellent condition). They are so versatile and are really water proof. The heavy treads let me walk on snow and ice without slipping around as much as I usually do. The size 4 are comfortably roomy if I wear regular sports socks or lightweight wool socks, and it allows for much thicker socks during a blizzard.

I normally wear a women's size 6.5 and I ordered the kids 4 and they fit perfectly. The boots are comfortable and warm and I love the length. They will be perfect for both the rain and snow and the quality looks as though they will last me for many many years to come

I am a size 6 1/2-7 in women's shoes and ordered this child's size 4 for my boots. I almost feel like I could go with the child's size 3, but that could also be just a tad too snug. I like that I can wear heavier socks with my boots if desired.
I already really love the fit! They did need some breaking in, but I expected that. A bit of rubbing on the back of my ankle, but I anticipate that that will go away with more wear like other boots I have owned.
Overall, happy with my purchase and know that these will last a lifetime as a classic boot!

I love these boots but wanted to share a little about sizing.
I am a women's 5.5-6 and I ordered a kid's 4 (think converse or vans sizing). I'm keeping the 4 because they do take quite a while to ship- mine were estimated to take 2.5 months when I ordered them but came two weeks early.
I have to wear thick socks with these- like SUPER thick, so I'm not going to be able to wear them in the summer.
Definitely size WAY down- I'm glad I read comments from others before I ordered my pair. Otherwise really great boots! I always had them as a kid and they really last forever; they're durable and way more slip proof than you'd think. I'm excited to wear this new pair in!

These are great! I originally purchased the women's 6 M boot because I wear a 6.5 in a regular shoe. The 6 was too big. I tried the size 3 kids next and that was too small. The size 4 fit perfect and still has room even with a heavy sock!!

I'm women's size 7 or 7.5. I also thank for costumer support person who gave me some kind assistance to pick my size. My new kids boots will keep my feet dry and comfortable for many many years. I'm 28 and typically wear a regular women's size 6. Since they recommended going down a size but 6 was the smallest size in women's, the customer service person I chatted with recommended a girls size 3. They fit perfectly!! I live in Texas so I didn't necessarily need to wear them with thick socks but I think if I did they would still be fine. Great service, and they even notified me they would be backordered longer than expected and then they arrived on time anyway! They're also comfortable right away and don't seem to need any breaking in. Bottom line, if you want Bean Boots but you have smaller feet, girls sizes work perfectly!

I'm currently at one of the snowiest cities in the US & I have to say I love these boots! I used to own a pair of the Sperry's Saltwater boots, but they fell apart after one season. I finally bit the bullet and accepted the backorder for a pair of Bean boots. I'm usually a women's 5.5, and after carefully reading other reviews, I ordered the kid's 3 in October. A month later, the boots arrived even though it said it would be backordered until January! These boots are warm and comfortable, not to mention so stylish and cute. I've been wearing these out to the rain, snow and even to hunt and they're holding up so nicely. However, the laces are a little bit shorter than I expected. Overall, I'm sure these boots will be with me for years to come!
