I read a lot of reviews about sizing on these boots before purchasing. Half the reviews said go down a full size and the other half said they are true to size. I am a 10.5 wide but sometimes go up to an 11 for width. Since these don't come in half sizes, I ordered the 11 wide. The boots are very nice quality and very cute, but the size was way off. They felt almost two sizes too big. I reordered in a 10 wide and they fit very well. They're still a little big but fit very well with thicker socks. They do fit a little loose around the ankle area. The laces are pretty stiff and I found it difficult to keep them tied tight enough so they weren't loose. I decided to go with the Eastland knot and wear them as slip ons, which has been comfortable. The boots are handmade and I did think the left boot felt a little narrower around the middle of the foot than the right but figured they'd break in. The other thing that was a little off was the thinsulate inside. In the right boot toe area, the thinsulate was protruding out from the boot and my toe was bumping up against it. It bothered me and I considered sending them back but tried wearing them around the house to see if I could get it pushed back in. In the end, I decided to keep them and am happy with the purchase but I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because of the thinsulate being inconsistent. They are very cute and the thinsulate is warm in the New England cold.

I’m usually a size 8. I ordered a size 7 and with thick socks they are still a great fit. Very well made. Perfect for Midwestern winters!

These are soo comfortable! I'm so happy I splurged this year and finally invested in the gore-tex bean boots! I have been wearing these through the fall in all sorts of weather and they have kept my feet warm and dry. I cannot yet speak for snow and much colder temperatures, but I'm sure these will be great! Just a note for sizing, I usually wear a 7.5-8 in shoes and I purchased a size 7 in these and i can wear them with thin and thick socks very comfortably! highly recommend if you are looking for a cute and comfy pair of fall/ winter boots!

I just moved from SoCal to the Midwest and needed to get a good pair of winter boots. I had always heard amazing things from my friends in the Midwest and East Coast about LL Bean's Duck Boots so I decided to give them a try. When these boots arrived I noticed that the leather on the back tab of the boot was rubbed/worn off (Pic 1). I was a little upset that these boots showed up like this but I needed to wear them the following weekend so I decided to just keep them and not deal with returning them. I wore them for the first time yesterday at a football game (lots of standing outside on cement, no rugged trekking or walking etc). When I returned home that night I noticed the same leather defect/ that the leather had rubbed off on the panel where the laces are tied (Pic 2-3) I'm really disappointed this happened. I've never owned a pair of Bean boots before so I don't know if this is a common problem (I can't find any other reviews that mention this exact issue). Can anyone offer any advice? Is this what typically happens to these boots? Did I get a faulty pair? The boots are very comfortable and my feet were not sore and I did not get any blisters (I was walking and standing for apprx 7 hours). I really like them but I just hate thinking that if this happened after I wore them one time, what will these boots look like after a whole fall/winter season?

I like them a a lot! The investment $ cost is worth it. Cold snowy winters here In Cleveland. Have walked dog in calf high snow already and no wetness. Nice and warm and comfortable. You do have to make sure you lace them up high for deep snow though. Very warm. I got 7 W and anything smaller would have been too tight. The ball of the foot is a bit of a pickle because you tend to feel the ground a lot but that's just how they are which I don't mind because I the slight flexibility there and with my inserts they work like a charm now. Just keeping it real. I'm really really happy with them. They seem built to last. I love that their made in Maine and that you get a card with your makers name, thanks "Taylor!" The review I read of someone else who had these duck boots for 25 years and were just now ready for a new pair made me get them. The break in/ getting used to them period was so fast too, maybe 5 days. Plus they're cute. Oh and the online consultant helped me pick these ones out specifically, he was so patient and helpful! It made me feel valued and that I can count on L.L. Bean. Do it.

Loved these boots! Be sure to read the sizing guide. It will help you figure out the right size for you. I usually wear a 7/7.5 and the size 6 boot fits great. They are a little stiff but I think I just need to break them in a bit more. I am moving to a cold country and These boots keep my feet nice and toasty in the cold which is exactly what I was looking for and of course Zappos quick service can’t be beat! My hope is these boots last for years to come.

My bean boots are my best friend. I have had them for over a year now, and they are by far the best pair of footwear in my entire wardrobe - it's a shame they are not for year-round use! I purchased a pair with the GoreTex/Thinsulate liner for added warmth-specifically for winter weather. Worth the extra pennies! They receive compliments for their look AND function. They stayed warm as I worked outdoor farmers markets in the Polar Vortex winter of 2014, and walked miles in the snow after leaving my trapped car behind. The quality of the product is indisputable. The rubber's sheen has definitely dulled, and the leather has worn in parts where my ankles brush against each other, but these are definitely only signs of my usage - the product is built to last, and I look forward to many future winters with these boots!

I normally wear a size 9 1/2 in all types of shoes, but many times I buy a size 10 due to a bunion on my right foot. I've tried purchasing 9 1/2 Wide shoes, but I don't have a wide foot, so they usually don't fit well. The 8" insulated Bean Boots were on sale in July and the website only had a size 10 Wide left. I read all of the reviews and wasn't sure if I should purchase them or not. I decided to go for it and I couldn't be happier! The length is absolutely perfect and leaves just enough room to wear a warm winter sock. The width is also perfect and doesn't feel sloppy with too much room, even on my left foot without a bunion. Again, I think they will leave just enough space for a thicker sock, but not too thick because they already fit so well. I'm so excited to wear my new boots in the cold Colorado snow this winter!

I decided to purchase a new pair of these boots because my 25+ year pair was looking shabby and the heal was worn. Love these boots. Stylish and functional.

Nothing comes close to these trusted warm, dry, durable, and long lasting boots. Mine are over 20 years old. Wore them on slopes, in blizzards, in wet eastern snows, and cold weather events. I just bought a pair for each my oldest daughters. Apply LL Bean boot protection to the boot leather once a year for a long lasting and beautiful pair of boots that won't fail you on the coldest and dampest days! LLBean, please include this product with each new pair of boots like the ol' days.It truly makes a difference to keep the leather supple, preserved, and looking their best! Your customers will love it and continue to purchase the product

Not my first Bean boots, but with the Gore-Tex insulation they are definitely the best! Perfect for my dog walks - or any walks - in any weather. Like other reviewers, I ordered the sheepskin insoles for extra comfort and warmth, and highly recommend. I ordered my usual size and wear with medium weight socks. Buy these boots. You won't be disappointed!

Dear BEAN My boots have been everywhere. From the L.L.BEAN outlet store in Maine, to the Pacific coast in Peru. From the Giant Sequoias in northern Cali to the Appalachian woods in South Carolina. They've been hiking in Colorado and New Mexico and hunting in the wilds of Pennsylvania. They've been on a thirty mile backpacking and rafting trip along the Appalachian mountains. I've won (and lost) countless snowball fights in them, and they've only just lost their waterproof qualities this past year because the threads along the seam wore out. I've worn them to both church and to horseback riding. When asked to rate them out of five stars, I wish I could give a few extra. They've survived my Highschool days since I got them in 2013, and I expect they'll last til I graduate college this spring. I can't wait to see what trail I'll walk with the new pair. Thanks BEAN. Your boots are unparalleled.

So I am 5"1', I'm 64 years and have an issue with rt ft. I ordered the size 6 wide because of 40 yrs in high heels caused a bunion. My only comment is because I'm short, and this is a 8" boot it does rub a bit at the top. I haven't totally broken them in yet though. These are a great fit, I wear a 6 1/2 but I'm finding because of the bunion issue I'm having to buy a half size large, which is too long and causes me to trip . This boot solved all my issues for all of these problems I have. They are warm enough for cold weather but not so warm in mild weather I can't enjoy. If it's really cold I can still wear a thicker sock. If you need more room at the ball area of foot get the wide width, and you won't need to get a larger size to compensate for foot issues. I highly recommend this boot, and I don't often give such a good rating on a shoe.
