I have a size 6 foot. The sales lady warned me the size 6 shoes would be too large. And they were. Even with very thick socks, the shoes slid up and down on my heels. They are great shoes but I had to return them. I wish they came in a smaller size!

I'm a little obsessive about my duck shoes. I've worn them since I was a child, spending long hours at the barn. I love my duck boots but the shoes don't seem to fit like they used to. The issue with the large heel, as others have pointed out, is true. Tightening the strings can make the top knot too tight, but what can you do? I will still wear them when it rains -- every time in every city. People think I'm a little nutty but I do love these shoes and boots.

I have only had the opportunity to wear them around the house since we have been experiencing near drought conditions. I selected these because they were available in narrow even though I wear a 4A width. I will be wearing them with my heavy socks and orthotics so they should do quite well for me. I'm so tired of paying high dollars for rubber boots that crack and become useless after one or two wearings. I know these will be on my feet for some time to come. Thanks for such a well made foul weather moc.

They are exactly what I was looking for. They look great. It was not easy to find this type of shoe that wasn't lined with wool. I live in the south so I needed a cooler shoe. LL Bean provided!

I live in an area where it rains alot and I have two labradors that love to go outside...alot. These shoes are perfect for "doggie walk/play time". But...I wish I had read the fine print regarding size. I missed the line that suggested if you wear a half-size normally, get the next smaller whole size. (e.g., I wear an 8 1/2; should have ordered an 8) I ordered size 9 (thinking my socks would be an issue) but...there are loose fitting even with socks and I now wish I had the 8. Since I have been wearing these already, I am stuck with my error in sizing but I would not hesitate to purchase these again and recommend to my friends...provided they (and I too) read the fine print!

So these shoes, we're packed and ready for return. I ordered one size down and lengthwise they were great. But the back half was way way too wide! Since what I wanted was a waterproof shoe I could just slip on and go (ugh 5:30 dog walk), mostly with bare feet, adding heavy sox was not a consideration. But took one more final try and noticed that the laces were not just for show! I was able adjust them to fit. The are really cute and comfortable.

I agree with others who have posted that these boots run large and are wide in the heel. I bought them today in an LL Bean outlet, so I was able to try them on. But because they were tied together, I couldn't walk much in them. When I got home and put them on I really noticed the heels slipping. I put heel liners in them and I'll see if that helps. Other than that they are very comfortable!

I love these for yard work. They are however BIG I mean really BIG. I wear a 10 period and ordered the one size down. So, I have a size 9. I haven't tried them with a thicker sock so I'm hoping that will work. I'm not going to pay to ship them back. I just have to wonder why in the world LL Bean makes them soooo big. Anyway, I still love them just wish they were more like my real size.

I love this boot, but they run HUGE! I recommend ordering a size down if not 2! They are durable and comfortable, just big.

Bought a pair of women's 6W mocs. Great shoes, excellent quality. However, the size 6 is still too big for me to wear, even with a pair of heavier socks. I normally take a 6.5 wide in shoes. I was hoping these would be ok. Had to return them. I would buy another pair if they could be made in a women's size 5. I'm sure I'm not the only one with smaller feet. I'd probably buy more than one color too. Any chance that could happen??

I just bought these women's shoes for my wife to replace a prior purchase, same shoe, but these ran bigger than prior shoes, not alot but she remarked about them. We were considering sending them back, but she decided to keep them. She works in a bakery so they will get wet and hopefully shrink a little, overall very happy with the quality of these shoes

I ignored the warnings because I have wide feet (and wides often aren't wide enough) and ordered my normal size, but it was way too large. If you order the rubber moc and don't plan to wear them with heavyweight socks all the time, order one size smaller even if you don't think you need to. I live in a rainy climate and wore these walking around my neighborhood. They kept my feet dry but the aren't that comfortable after the first mile or so. Also the sole wears out quickly. At least I can send them back to have them resoled as I need to. I'm sure they are just fine for short walks in a non-paved area.

I was glad other reviewers mentioned to order a size smaller. I have their nubecs in a size 7, and one of their hiking boots, also size 7 that fit fine. I ordered a 6 and it is a good 1/2 size too big! I have to wear heavier socks, but don't mind as these truly kept me dry though puddles and heavy rain last week. They are comfortable now that I have the heavier socks. A good value; just order a smaller size than usual.

I ordered a full size smaller than I normally wear (size 7 vs. size 8) and these Bean Rubber Mocs are still a bit loose. They will be o.k. with thick socks, but in the summer I like to just slip them on barefoot for working outside. Still a good product, just be aware of the sizing when you order.

The shoes were great. I ordered the size smaller that was suggested. It just didn't work for me. I could not go up a size because I have two different sized feet. I ordered the narrow. It felt good. Except the heels were not narrow. So when I walked my heels slipped up and down. Very annoying.

I read other reviews and decided to order my regular size shoe. These are WIDE, but I cinched them in with the laces and they are great. I do like loose shoes but can put on heavy socks and have a perfect fit, great if it is cold out. The blue leather is gorgeous. yay, new bootie shoes to live in.

I really like the color and quality of these shoes. Unfortunately, I have narrow feet and have a hard time finding shoes that fit, and LL Bean doesn't sell this particular color in Narrow (AA). They do, however, sell most of the other moc colors in Narrow. I wish they would sell this color in Narrow too. I normally wear a 7 Narrow, but the reviews I read said to order a size down because the shoes run big, so I ordered a 6 Medium and they fit perfectly in length. I have to wear thick socks with these shoes because they are too wide for me, and when I tie the ties, they crinkle the leather, and it looks kind of silly. I would love to order this same shoe in a Size 6 Narrow, because I'm sure it would fit perfectly. I also wish they would sell matching shoestrings in Coral Rose. I'm worried the shoestrings will wear out because I have to tie and untie them everytime I put on and take off the shoes. I can't just slip them on. Everything else about the shoe is great, typical of LL Bean quality.

Just a little too large in length. Afraid to get size smaller and be to short. Will have to wear really heavy socks. Otherwise they will be perfect for what I ordered them for.

they looked well made. I wear a 9 1/2. The nine was way large and I had 1/2 in of room at the back of my heel, so they flopped. The eight was to small and hurt my toe. Wish they had half sizes. I would order if they did. Had to send both back. I don't like the return fee.

definitely larger than life! I usually wear a 7-7 1/2, ordered the 6 and it fits OK without a sock, although slightly loose. Want to be able to wear them with no socks on a rainy summer day or at the most tights. Tried to tighten with the laces and that worked somewhat. Having trouble getting the bow to stay below the crossed laces - it wants to creep up high and then you lose the moccasin look. Is there another way to lace them to keep the bow low? Bought them to wear for commuting on rainy days - personally, I don't find the uninsulated version to be warm enough for winter - almost froze my toes years ago ice-fishing in the uninsulated full boot style, even with heavy socks. Anyway, I ordered these strictly for warmer weather use, but am holding off on wearing them until I receive the gumboot to compare (backordered til MAR). But I like the look especially for wearing with tights and a dress to work, and they seem comfortable, though I may still need to wear a light sock. Just a suggestion, but wouldn't it be easier to just resize them rather than have customers try to figure out how to compensate?

I love the fact that these boots are made in the States, and the quality is very good. They run big, I wear a 8.5, and ordered the size 7. They are still roomy enough to wear a heavy sock and I can tighten the laces to fit. I hope the laces last, and would like if LLBean had provided a second pair of laces. I've been wearing them and they are very comfortable, feel like a mocassin, and are practical, in rain and such.

I ordered a whole size larger than I would normally wear in this type of shoe but still felt it was a little large. By tightening up the laces and wearing a heavier sock, I was able to get an acceptable fit. They are remarkably comfortable and great to wear in wet slushy weather. I am certain I will enjoy them for many years to come.

I really like these...just couldnt get over the sizing issue! I got a 10, but even with heavy socks they were too big! Im normally betw a 10-11. Should have listened. Returned them for a 9. Still waiting for them to come, but Im expecting they'll fit just right.

I wanted this for my commute into Boston when I don't need a full boot. I was happy these came in narrow. I tried, but I just couldn't get the right size to fit properly. I have a narrow foot and typically wear a 9-9.5. Their advice on sizing seems pretty accurate but I ordered both sizes 8 and 9 in narrow. The size 9 was too large even with a heavy sock. The size 8 would have had to be worn with a heavy sock. It fit, except for the heel. My heel would come out when I walked, and it seemed like it didn't come up far enough on my heel. As always the quality was great. Would recommend to a friend, just unfortunate that it didn't work for me.

Sizes hard to figure, I wear a size 8 in shoes, first ordered size 8, planned on wearing them with my HEAVY WOOL socks, still WAY to big, sent back and got the 7...fit great with heavy sock, or med. weight with tightening the leather string....Made nice, seems to be very durable.....MADE IN USA .....LOve the blue duo tone color!!!! can't wait for rain to wear...but plan on using them also for morning garden runs to harvest, when my grass is damp....
