A typically awesome bean shoe, with lots of things I love: easy on/off, comfortable footbed, solid construction, decent price. However, I ordered a narrow width, and these certainly do not have a narrow heel! I ordered a size smaller than my Bean Boots (which I have in a narrow width and are awesome), and the length is okay. Heavy socks help, but the heel is still loose.
Bottom line: great shoe, but width is not a true narrow.

I love LL Bean and am a lifelong customer. I adore these "duck shoes" which is what I grew up calling them. I listened to the other reviews and went down 1.5 sizes (8.5N to a 7.0N). They are WAY TOO SHORT. I knew it was a risk with the size when I read the reviews, so it's not a big deal to exchange them. I'm not sure whether I need an 8N or a 9N, so I am returning them with a trace of my foot, so they can help. I know I'll get what I need, so it's no big deal. Except for the length, they are very comfy and just what I expected, and it will be worth it.

I wished they fit! they seem very nicely made. I wear a womens size 9, so after reading the reviews I ordered an 8. Huge on me. Exchanged for a seven. Tight in the toes, while my heal is slipping right out. I have to give up. I but shoes quite often online, without a problem, but these are not going to work out. Sigh.

These run huge. I normally wear a 7 to 7.5, I ordered these in a 6, after reading they run very large. They are HUGE, no way can I make these work. I'm bummed because they are really great quality, and also have the look (I ordered navy) I wanted, very cute.
They did include a return shipping label, so that is good.
I really wish they would have worked, they are very nice mocs.

Have had this boot, but the one with the total shearling lining. Best boot on the planet. I love them so much. As do all the teachers I work with at school. So easy to slip on and off for recess or bus duty. But, you discontinued the lined ones several years ago. Now a whole group of us are stuck with cold and wet feet. Please bring them back. Or even offer refurbishing to those of us that don't want to give them up.

In terms of quality, this is a 5 star shoe. It's a quality, made-in-the US rain shoe and I love it. The knobby sole gives traction on wet slippery grass and wet brick walkways. The rubber and leather and well made and the stitching is solid. It even manages to somehow be kinda cute in a clunky sort of way. I bought the shoes to get me through our rainy Georgia Autumn and Spring when parking lots at work and shopping can be sheeted with water. Also slipped them on for tromping around the yard this Spring pulling weeds and doing a little gardening. I was a little concerned that the rubber top would be hot in this weather, but so far that isn't a problem.
As far as the fitting process, buying this shoe is a 3 to 4 star experience. Following the recommendations on the website and also the recommendation of a customer service rep that I spoke to before ordering the first pair of shoes, I ordered l l/2 sizes down -- from my usual 8 l/2M sports shoe to a a 7M in this. It was way to short, though the width in the heel was fine. I sent them back and got a size 8M, which is fine in the length, though now they're a little wide in the heel. I know the shoe is supposed to fit a little loose and fit the best with heavy weight socks, so I'm not expecting a dress shoe or sports shoe fit with these. If I had to order again, I'd try an 8N instead. But having paid return shipping on one pair, I'm not ready to pay return shipping on another.
Many years ago, LLBean used to offer a fitting service for the Bean Boots where you would draw and outline of your foot with the type of sock you intended to wear with the shoe. I imagine it would be too expensive to offer that again, even if someone were willing to pay additional for that service. But I wish the suggestions on the website for selecting the size were better. For many ordering l l/2 sizes down means a too-short shoe; LLBean needs to address that problem.

And finally decided to make the purchase. I wear 10.5 normally and went with size 9 in these mocs. The fit is good with light socks, but would be tight with heavy socks. My one complaint is that the heel of my foot feels like it will slide out, so I went with 4 stars. Otherwise a handsome, well-crafted pair of boots, and I am happy to finally have a pair.

I'm SO DISAPPOINTED, have wanted these for so long and finally ordered. I wear perfect 6M and ordered that, they are gigantic. Even with my thickest winter sox I walk out of them. I was planning to order the fleecelined boots this fall but notice that 6 is the smallest they make so I guess they will be too large also. These mocs are adorable so cute, easy to get on and off. Can BEAN make a size 5 in their wonderful boots? I would buy them for sure. I deducted one star for sizing, otherwise I LOVE THEM and hate having to return.

Always have wanted a pair. Love them. Slightly disappointed though because even the narrow width is a bit too wide in the heel. Tried an innersole but made them uncomfortable up toward the front. Keeping them anyway, they serve the purpose and look smart!

Follow the advice of others and get a size smaller. I usually wear a 9.5 with socks so I bought the 8 and they are still a bit too big. I tightened up the ties and they fit much better. My guess is they are all made using men's sizes.

I'm an average width 9.5...occasionally can fit a 9 if it is an open sandal type shoe or a 10 if it is a boot or ballet flat with only a little room at toe. Slightly narrow heel but have never purchased a narrow shoe. Bought these in the lowest boot version back in college in 1992 and LOVED them for years but went on a cleaning binge and gave them to goodwill abt 10 yrs ago. Have regretted it ever since. Finally decided to repurchase the normal width size 8 moccasin version. Received them quickly (5 days?), good in length (was worried abt but it is fine) but they are so wide my foot flips and flops like a flip flop. Hoping I can find an insert so I don't have to return but feel like I'll probably need the narrow. The lowest boot version did not fit like this yrs ago...back then the regular 8 fit fine with socks. The laces probably helped make that one tighter? The moccasin does't seem very adjustable w the laces.

These mocs are great for routine shoveling, running out to the mailbox, etc. when the weather is crummy but snow is not super deep. Only downside is that the moc lacing doesn't allow you to adjust the fit much--I found the fit to be slightly wide in the heels, so my heels slip up/down a bit as I walk but not enough to be really bothersome.

I should have read the note about ordering one size down from your regular size and I would have avoided having to return them for the correct size. Ordered 9W which is my usual shoe size. Width was great but the length was too long. So be aware before you buy. Otherwise the shoes are great.

These Mocs are water tight and perfect for rainy days. They do run large. I wear a 61/2 shoe and a 7 boot normally. I got the size 6, the smallest size available and it is very roomy. I got the shearling liners which are amazingly comfortable and warm. The liners coupled with a heavy sock do the trick for me. If I didn't have heavy socks and the shearling inserts I would need a 51/2 boot. I would suggest that LL Bean strongly consider a size smaller for those of us with smaller sized feet. They are well-made and warm. I'd like another smaller pair for warm weather rainy days to wear with a light sock. Hopefully a smaller size is in the making! (5 and 51/2 would be great additions!)

I bought these for my daughter and she really likes them. She did comment that the shoe was a little too wide but she would try to wear a thicker sock to accommodate the extra width. I'm really glad the sizing guide recommended sizing down for this boot.

My usual shoe size is 8.5-9. Ordered size 7 and fit is good. Lesson learned--these run large.
Am a casual clothes person, and these are perfect.

1st pair (9) too big. 2nd pair (8) fit except inside right of left foot and inside left of right foot near top where stitched material hard and rubbed on foot bones. If leather carried little further toward front would fix. Tried band-aide on foot but still hurt. Could use mink oil rubbing for a while but at that price shouldn't have too. Otherwise products from LL are great. Will order other items later.

I wear a six and they don't go any smaller so the shoe is a little large and I have to wear extra socks with them. Wish you made ladies sizes a little smaller.

Great shoes to keep by the door for quick trips to the mailbox or to take the dogs out. Love that they slip on/off and I don't have to stop and tie laces.
Even the wide size seems snug in the width with anything other than barefeet. I'd like the fit better if the toebox was wider and the heel was narrower.

I wear heavy socks so it works for me but if you want your standard fit order a size smaller. Love these for walking the dog or running out in yucky weather. Feet stay dry!

The LLBean rubber moc is exactly what I expected. I have multiple pairs of LLBean Maine hunting boots so pretty much knew that I would like the mocs. My only problem with both the boots and the mocs is that they run quite large. Even allowing for a thick sock I have to size down 1 size from my regular shoe size. The only other comment I have is that I'd love to see the moc in a fleece lined version & maybe some more bottom colors-- like black or green.

Have wanted these for years and years. Finally got them and the width and length are perfect, EXCEPT however, the heel is too loose. I've tried insoles and they did not help, I've tried heavier socks, and they help some, then I tried double socks and was better, but still the heel is too loose. I know the video says that they will be looser, but when walking and especially going uphill, it is annoying. BUT, I am still keeping them, but sure wish there was something else I could do (I have also tried those things that stick on the inside of the heel, but they didn't work either).

These run large and have room for a nice thick sock. Quality and comfortable. Cant wait to try them out in some of Wisconsin's nasty weather. Shipping was super fast. The first pair I got was too wide, a M - so I reordered a N and it fits perfect with plenty of room for socks.

I purchased these in October to be a Christmas gift in December. However, I purchased them for my daughter last year for Christmas and she loved them. Same complaint as everyone else. These boots run really big. Show whatever your normal true size is, order a size down and they should work. I wear a 9, so I ordered a 8. They fit good.
