I love these shoes in theory. I had them in the 80s, and they were wonderful. I wanted another pair now, in my late 40s, for the rainy weather where I live. And for nostalgia, because I loved them. I read the reviews and ordered a 7N because I wear between and 8 and and 8 and 1/2N normally. They arrived, looked beautiful and fit well width wise but were noticeably short. My toes turned up near the end. So I returned them for an 8N pair. LL Bean customer service is wonderful. I was so looking forward to this pair, and they are okay length wise, although my foot slides back and forth a little even with medium weight wool socks. But they are SO SO SO wide. And they are narrow AA shoes. It's crazy. So now I'm debating returning them and not getting another pair. Part of me wonders if I should have kept the short 7Ns and tried to stretch them, which I don't really see happening. But how can the 7Ns and the 8Ns be SO dramatically different in size? Part of me also wonders if I return the 8Ns for other 8Ns will the new pair fit? These are fabulous and special shoes if you can find a pair to fit you. And I need them, but they are very awkward with the sizing issues.

I consistently wear a size 11 but these were too big, even with socks.

I was really looking forward to ordering a pair of ankle Bean Boots as mine were over 20 years old and looking pretty beat up. I had had them re soled three times. but Since they no longer make them I decided to try the "mocs". They are brand new so they are very stiff. I ordered a size smaller as the catalog said as I was to if I wear them with light weight socks (to be worn in the wet MS spring) but I was surprised they felt too short. The leather tongue is so stiff that it rubs painfully on the top of my feet but I am hoping they will curve correctly after many wears...and if not I will be cutting them back or figuring out how to curl them up.

I have been wanting to buy a pair of these LL Bean Rubber Mocs for years. I finally had a good reason to buy a pair and I ordered them from the catalogue. When I put them on they were 1 and 1/2 sizes too big! Huge! I wondered if they'd sent men's by mistake. When I returned them to the LL Bean store near me the salesman said they run a size too big. They run more than a size too big in my estimation. And, they do not make half sizes. After all these years of selling these shoes I'd think they'd have half sizes. I left the store with no shoes. Very disappointed. I really wanted that exact shoe.

Not one to write reviews, but always read them. In this case, I felt I needed to leave feedback. Ordered two pairs - black/black & brown/brown - from Winter 2014/2015. Both pairs had glue and stitching issues with the leather tops. Probably the new Bean elves on 3 work shifts were overwhelmed this season up in Brunswick. Hope the quality returns...

Even with a smaller size, these seem too big to stay on my feet securely. They are comfortable but I fear that they are going to fly off. I don't want to return them. Maybe it's how they are laced?

I ordered these boots in a size smaller than I usually take like they said to do. These boots were really big. I ordered another size smaller and they were still really big. I haven't wore that size for 40 years! I sent them back again and I want my money back. What pattern are they using? I always were a medium width also and these are really wide! I really like the boots and the quality looks good, but the sizing is way off.

I so wish these shoes stayed on my feet because I need waterproof slip on shoes for dog walking in all kinds of weather. Sadly they slip off my heels. I've tried heel pads, different insoles, and tightening the leather laces to no avail. Also tried the similar Bar Harbor shoes, hoping for better heel fit. They slipped off as well.

I usually wear an 8 1/2 size shoe, no matter what the brand. But I followed the instructions to order a size and a half down. I wore medium weight socks with the shoes, around the inside of my home for 3 hours on a weekend. By the end, my big right toe was really hurting, and it actually hurt all week, even when I wore different shoes. I was actually limping around my office. So, I just returned them. I could have ordered a size 8 size, but the 7 was wide in the instep/heel area. Anyway, shoes are very hard to order online, I think, and I do a lot of shopping online. So, I'm sure these shoes fit many people great, but not in my case.

i like the show but it's a little too big. i usually wear a 9W which is what i ordered but its longer and wider than most 9Ws.

My daughter wears a size 7 shoe. I ordered 6m. The shoes swallow her. I did like the directions said and ordered a size smaller. I am waiting to see if she wants to return them for a refund or try a 6 narrow. I just hate that they don't work and it will cost to return. This makes me scared to try the narrow and maybe just go ahead and get a refund.

I really like the quality of these shoes, but I can't find a size that fits. The 7 medium is too tight in the toe area with heavy socks but slip off with lightweight socks. The 7 wide fits ok with heavy socks in the toe area but slips off with all socks, lightweight and heavy. I tried tightening the laces and it helps a bit but doesn't solve the problem. I wish they'd stay on my feet because they are exactly what I'm looking for.

Unfortunately, those of us who wear a true size 6 are out of luck. Even with two pair of heavy socks the size 6 are huge. Please, please consider making them in a size 5.

I was really disappointed to have to return these. I tried my normal size, 9 wide, and while the width was good with fleece socks they were way too long, with a half inch gap at the heel. Even after I used all the tissue in the box to stuff the toes they were too big. I also tried a size down, but the 8 wide would only fit if I didn't wear any socks and my feet get too cold for that to be an option. But they appeared to be well made so if your feet are just the right size you'll probably be happy with them.

I gave these shoes an average rating based on how big they were. I ordered a size 8 womens. I am normally an 8.5 in boots, sneakers, hiking shoes..etc. The size 8 are way too big. I tried with heavier socks and still too big. I like the overall shoe, but I had to order the size 7. I will be returning the 8 to my local store. My advice is to order at least a full size smaller than you would normally wear.

I ordered a size 9. the only size I ever wear. way way too big. I ordered the 8 and the fit is fine and they are pretty comfy, BUT my socks keep sliding down my foot when I had these on. I can't stand that and don't see it getting any better. I sadly have to send them back. I can't walk around with the sensation of my sock slipping all day. this was the moc. maybe a taller boot would work better. I was hoping to find a nice pair of shoes for rain and slushy days, without putting on full boots. I would suggest them. I know it's my issue and I'm sure others have no sock issue at all.

I just received these today & my first impression was, "Awesome colors!" The powder blue, navy, & red are even nicer looking in person, but the moc itself has virtually NO heal support... I'm a "Function over Looks" type of girl & this moc is not something I'll be able to walk in for a long time (because my heal slips out of the back & they don't feel ber secure on my foot). For that reason I can only rate these w/3 stars. I can see wearing these for trips to the mailbox, taking out the trash, brief outings in the car, & working in the garden - but sadly, that's IT:( I ordered the size 7 because the directions read to order 1 size down from what I normally wear, which is a size 8, and I'm so glad I did! If I had bought the size 8 I would've had to wear 2 pairs of thick socks to keep them on. I just want to add that I really like how these mocs are 100% American Made & I feel good knowing that I'm helping to support a company that respects/honors its heritage & roots! (For that reason I'm keeping them.)

I love everything about the shoe except for the fit. I am a 9 in everything. The 9 was too big. The 7 too small. The 8 is okay but not great. My foot slips out while walking. I have to keep adjusting the string every wearing. My socks bunch up and then cause pain and blisters. So, be careful about the fit. They tried to explain some nonsense about that they are meant to be worn with really thick heavy socks.But the size should still fit. Or they shouild make half sizes as well.

Even though I followed everyone's (Review) recommendations and ordered a full size smaller than I usually wear, I can only wear these shoes with thick socks--and even then they are very loose in the heel. Additionally I will need to cut the laces to make them shorter so that they don't drag on the ground.

I am pleased that they are made in the USA. These boots look great and I followed the instructions and ordered the size down. The problem is that the tongue is so long it rubs on my leg. I wonder if others have had a problem with this or if I got a defective pair. I may return them. I have considered trying to trim them, but not sure that will work. Will probably visit Freeport this summer and may bring them along for an exchange or refund.

I am a comfortable size 10 shoe. I ordered the rubber mocs in a size 10 and was surprised at how big they fit. I went to an outlet store, and the same shoe was there in a size 9. That shoe fit much more comfortably, so I exchanged the size 10 for the size 9.

Just recv'd these mocs yesterday. They are going back! I wear a size 9. Bought a 9 M. Way to big. They slip off my feet. Will return for a different size. But overall good quality.

I was disappointed in the sizing. I ordered an 8 as it was suggested to order down. I wear a size 8 1/2. Even so, they were too big overall especially the heel. Otherwise they are very well made. I like the style, wish they were sized better.

Listened to other reviewers and ordered a size smaller...still too big. So ended up 2 sizes smaller since there are no half sizes. Feels a bit too small at the toe and a bit big in the heel. I am rather desperate with the current weather conditions...so I am just keeping them and hoping for the best!

These fit like men's shoes. I am an 8 and I ordered an 8 and I could have put someone else in the shoe with me, they are so big. I sent them back and got a whole size smaller, sz 7 and they are still large, but if they are worn with the heavy smartwool socks and tighten up the laces, they fit great. I think I will grow to like them.
