Well I hate to do this but this is kind of a big deal... These shoes were dropped off about 30 minutes ago and I can't even get a foot in them with no socks on. Even after reading a lot of reviews I seem to have missed the few that mention the tongue is sewn all the way up. This apparently hasn't been an issue for most reviewers but unfortunately it is for me. Sewing the tongue all the way up isn't really a bad design but if you don't mention the measurement for this opening in the product description then this becomes an issue for buyers who don't have a chance to measure themselves to determine if their feet will make it through this opening. But since this measurement wasn't included, I now have to alter and possibly ruin a wonderful (and expensive) pair of shoes. I have to cut or de-stitch the tongue. I am unable to return them and get another type of shoe because I'm headed to Ecuador soon and there's no time. Wouldn't it be a disaster to make calf length boots and fail to include the calf circumference measurement? Same thing here... Well at least they felt nice for the part of my foot I was able to get in there. Now if I can only get all of my foot in there.

My sister bought these for me about a year ago but after only wearing them for not even 6 months, they smelled horrible. I cant take my shoes off without smelling the whole house up and despite all efforts to air them out and disguise the smell they are now rendered useless. They were really comfortable and I loved them but can't wear them because of the smell. Only had them for 4 or 5 months and they were basically ruined. Not sure if its worth getting another pair or not.

The right boot is great - fits well, comfortable. The left boot has a defect that should not have passed quality control. The tongue is not centered correctly leaving a downward dimple that digs into my foot. The pair is going back.

Unfortunately, this shoe didn't work for me. It came highly recommended by a colleague, but my instep is too high for the stiff upper part of the shoe.

Boots don't breathe whatsoever. Treat it as a purely rubber boot. It is the rubber on the sole and foot that traps sweat which, in turn, makes your feet super sweaty, then cold. I even tried my own sheepskin insoles and it was still too sweaty to keep them. Had to send them back. I considered buying the gore-tex upper boots, but that isn't going to help the sole of the foot. I normally wear a size 7 medium and ordered a 6 wide and it fit comfortably, beautifully even. I am sad about the breathability as the comfort of the boot was amazing!

Upon reading all the reviews, I ordered a pair since they promised to be such good endurable quality (which they did turn out to be). However, I found that the opening of these shoes were too sloped, or rather there was no defined cut between the foot and the beginning of the shin of the leg, so that the tongue of the shoe began to cut very much into my shins because the tongue cut too high. Either I am of petite size or this design was just too rigid for me. Great quality and Im sure Id have loved them for the harsh winter, but Im returning them... :( These go really well and snug with the LLBean thick socks they sell though! Love those socks.

Ouch. The leather part was rubbing, uncomfortable, and did not conform to the leg. I ordered my usual size, 11 wide, and it was way too big. Returned.

Sizing is way off. Boot runs very large. I am a woman with a small foot without a Bean boot option. Please offer more sizes.

After only about a month of wearing this boot, a stick punctured a hole in the side of the boot and cut my foot, left a bruise. I would have expected it to stand up to a twig. I returned the boots, thankful that was easy to do and purchased a different type of boot.

I have wanted to try LL Bean Boots for years and years. I finally ordered a pair of the Women's 6" Bean Boots, and was dismayed that the fit was so wretched. They were the right length and width, but my foot felt horrible in the boot. Now I've finally scratched that itch, and unfortunately back it goes to LL Bean.

Boot is great though small in size. Tried to exchange and am being told they need some other kind of receipt other than what was sent. So far - no luck returning these for a bigger size.

I only tried on one boot. The whole length of the boot tongue is sewn to the sides of the boot (next to the bootlace holes), and makes for a narrow opening. When my stocking foot made it inside the boot and made contact with the unlined interior, I didn't like it at all. If I put on a thick sock, which would be what I'd wear with theses unlined boots, I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be forcing my foot into the boot. Pass on these. I re-ordered the prima-loft 6" bean boots. My feet are 10" long, always wear size 9, and size 8 fit in this boot (I guess this pair fit, I didn't walk around in it because I knew I wasn't keeping it).

Didn't keep my feet warm at all actually was the POLAR opposite (literally). I was at a NFL game in a different state so unfortunately I couldn't just drive home and swap out my shoes either. I actually ended up crying because my feet were so cold and painful and it ruined my time there.. I ended up taking them off and sitting in the stadium barefoot in the 30 degree weather because it was honestly warmer than the boots. Such a disappointment because I really wanted to love these.

i have wanted these for so long and we finally had a rainy year in california so i got them. they unfortunately did not live up to what i had been dreaming of. EXTREMELY uncomfortable. i mean ouch! the tops of the leather were not only so super stiff and hard but they dug into the front of my ankles/shins immediately. i couldnt even wear them around the house for a few minutes without pain. they also run a whole size large easily! im a 7 maybe 7.5 in boots cuz i like them roomy usually, these i got in a 7 and they felt like at least an 8! def size down if you buy these and be prepared for some serious breaking in you will have to do.

I have wanted a pair of bean boots forever and finally took the plunge the last time there was a sale. I purchased a 9W for my size 10W foot. I based this decision off of other reviews- for the record they fit absolutely perfect. I experienced great difficulty with UPS because apparently my order wasn't labeled appropriately and they could not find my address. After two weeks and about 10 phone calls, I finally received the boots. However, similar to other reviews, the pair I received had dried globs of glue around the area where the stitch meets the bottom sole and it appeared to affect the boots ability to be water proof. I reached out to customer service and received an almost immediate response. I was impressed. The rep said she would send a new pair out right away and they would be there in 2-3 days. More than a week later I received a package with a size 9M in them, not 9W. I decided that I had already spent too much time on this pair of shoes and would just call it a loss. I went to a UPS store and sent back the new pair that was sent to replace the unsatisfactory pair. I can't really use them when it rains because the waterproof seal is compromised but they are a perfect fit and I do receive compliments, the only reason I gave a star. That being said, I do not think I would recommend to a friend, due to the great amount of effort it took to receive the boots, only to receive a pair that should have never made it through quality control and then to be sent the wrong size as service recovery.

I ordered these boots based on the name and reputation of LL Bean. These were a Christmas gift for my wife. My wife has been trying to push through the lack of cushion on the inside of the boot, but can no longer wear these boots. They hurt her feet as the inside quality of the boot is horrible. The size is correct, but the seams that are exposed on the inside, are extremely uncomfortable. Unfortunately, we will never buy another pair of LL Bean boots again.

I have bought several of these boots over the years. They are very inconsistent in sizing. Both in length and width. I normally wear a size 8 med. I ordered a pair in this size. They were much too narrow. They pinched my toes to the point where my toes were bending inward. Then I removed the inner sole hoping that would give me more room to move my toes. I ended up with more room, but without the liner it was just like walking on stones in my stocking feet. So, I decided to try a pair in wide. This pair was not only much much too wide, but they were also way too long. My feet swam in those . I compared the length of the soles of the wide pair to the pair of mediums and there was a vast difference. There is also no support in these boots. My ankles turn inward making my feet and legs ache. That was my last pair. For the price of these boots they are definitely no bargain.Don't waste your money!!! .

I bought these same boots several years ago and love them. My daughter needed some snow/rain boots and pretty much took them over, she loved them too. So I ordered a new pair for myself, on backorder. Just received them and wore them to work on a rainy day. Awful! I have cuts and bruises into my lower shins, it was excruciating to walk down the steps. The leather, if it is leather, is so stiff it cuts rights into me. I am so upset with this horrible product that I paid $109 for. On a teacher's salary, nonetheless. And, the "leather" has chipped off in several places after wearing one time.

I live in NYC and we just had a small amount of snow. These shoes does not keep my feet warm. Walking around for like 15 minutes in 20 degree weather will make my toes feel numb. I have to wear two socks just to survive! I don't understand the hype for these shoes. I'll stick to uggs from now on, before I get frost bite.

I was ecstatic when I saw the wide-width option for these boots (as I have a very wide forefoot), but quickly disappointed with the limited size range. Running large only exaggerates the discrepancy with the smallest size offered (size 6). It's a shame considering I'd be a lifetime customer if they offered a standard range (beginning with size 5). I will take my business and my small feet elsewhere and hope LLBean will someday reconsider their offering of sizes for women.
