LL Bean's principles stand the test of time, just like their boots. I had to return my duck boots after 20 + years of use because they ripped at a seam. The process in dealing with customer service a few times was absolutely painless and a pleasure. If more retail companies modeled their Customer service after Bean, the world would be a happier place. Great Job!

This is my second pair of these boots, I got 15 years wear out of the first that I purchased while living in PA. This second boot fits great and is of the same quality as the first. Can't find other items that have kept the quality the same for that period of time. American craftsmanship beats all others. It was worth the wait to have the boots made in Maine and shipped to me. Highly recommended.

I had to send them back and get a wider boot, but I want to compliment Leslie for the construction of this boot. Stitching was perfect and overall quality was excellent. When I had to return them, the process was easy. It was my fault for not ordering a wider size not theirs.Waiting for my replacement which will arrive in April.

I am excited that my boots finally arrived today. Originally ordered a size 11M but had to return for a 12M. They were a bit too snug. I originally ordered the size 11M because I already own a pair of 6" uninsulated Bean Boots in that size despite taking a size 12 or 13. Having said all this I think these Gore-Tex/Thinsulate boots run pretty true to size. With a big Nor'easter bearing down on us tomorrow they couldn't have arrived at a better time. The fit is great and like all Bean products I'm sure they will provide years of dry, warm feet. Nicely made in the USA!

I normally wear a 13 but I wear a 12 in a Bean Boot. They are warm. The more I wear them and break them in, the more comfortable they are. They are well made and built right here in America. I hope to wear them for years to come. An American classic.

I already own a pair of the 6" uninsulated Bean Boot that I have had for years. My only complaint with these is they are cold! I got a gift certificate for my birthday and thought I would treat myself. Depending on the brand of foot wear I typically take a 12 or 13. Since my uninsulated boots are a size 11 with room to spare I went with an 11. After waiting three months I had to return the 11M. The length seemed fine, but they were just too narrow. All my foot wear is a medium width so my thinking was it may be the lining. Long story short I brought them back to a local LL Bean Retail store and discussed the fit with a sales person who felt the 12M would be a better fit. I was hoping to have them for part of the winter but it doesn't look promising. Although I haven't had an opportunity to really wear them I rated 5 stars. Well made and like all of Beans product I'm certain they will provide years of service....

I had the canvas 10" boots and didn't like them at all. My feet were always cold, my arches hurt just after short walks, and the height of the boot was just a little too high for comfort. I returned them and decided to get go with the gortex lined Bean Boot. Huge improvement... the boots are warm and comfortable. I wear them while shoveling, before I go skiing, or walking the dogs and they are great. The only downside was that it took 8+ weeks to get them. I bought them before Christmas and they weren't delivered until mid-February.

My size 9 M is perfectly matched with the selected 9M using medium weight socks. Great finish and workmanship. I lace to the second from top grommet for comfort. This boot is different than hiking boots because the Bean Boot weighs more and the walking surface contact from heel to toe feels like the boot touches the surface at these two pronounced points rather than a continuous contact arc. The boot has great traction. I have only used these boots for a month with little rain, so no waterproof validation here. These are great utility boots for around the yard, short walks, stacking/chopping wood, camp sites. With waterproof membrane and insulation, this model will take on any weather challenge. Hand Made in the Moose Country, USA!

The Gore-Tex/Thinsulate boots are excellent for cold winter days. The boots have been comfortable since day one but get even more comfortable with wear and usage. Like you, I did some research before buying these boots. The consensus was that Bean Boots are excellent, but the sizing is tricky. Here is my experience. I do not think that these boots run as large as the unlined boots. The Gore-Tex liner/Thinsulate bootie inside the boot takes up space. Here are my typical shoe sizes for comparison. Asics running shoes: 8 1/5, nike running and athletic shoes 8 1/2 - 9, allen edmonds dress shoes 7 1/2. I purchased the Gore-Tex/Thinsulate boots in both a size 7 and a size 8 for comparison. The size 7 boots were WAY too snug (maybe a 7 Wide would have worked but I have never bought wide shoes in the past so I did not think that was the right move here either. The size 8 boots, however, fit perfectly. If I wear them with thinner socks, my feet have plenty of room to move around; if I wear thicker socks, everything stays warm. In the near future, I plan on purchasing some unlined gumshoes or 6 inch boots in size 7. I hope this helps someone out there.

Received these boots mid winter in time for use in the snow & cold. Ordered according to the size chart for light to mid weight socks, excellent fit, easy to take on and off. Warm enough for fishing from the river bank or doing chores around the house. Thank you Brenda (and the boot team) for making such a fine boot! Looking forward to years of service.

I own a frequent amount of LL bean clothing, pretty awesome flannels if ya ask me. But I never owned any bean boots, opting for some nice American made Redwings. As nice as my redwings are, they are not adequate for the winter months. I had been contemplating buying a pair of bean boots for awhile and when I got a xmas gift card for llbean it was a done deal. I chose these particular pair of boots for 1) Made in America 2) gortex and 3) thinsulate. Boy am I glad I did, these boots are soo friken comfy and warm, even when Im standing in snow/slush my feat stay warm and dry. Honestly I didn't think a pair of boots would be this big of a game changer but I was wrong. Never will winter be the same again.

Have been wanting a pair for years now. Finally ordered some. They were on back order at that point, but did arrive sooner than the projected ship date by about three weeks so I was happy. Very well made. I've looked them over hard and could not find any defects. All stitching and craftsmanship is superb. The fit is perfect--- I normally wear a size 10, but ordered a size 9 as suggested. Now I just need winter to return so that I can wear them outside here in Michigan. I would expect that these will last me for many years. Don't hesitate, order today.

I'm only a couple of months into owning my Bean Boots, but love them so far. My biggest concern when purchasing was size, since I'm in-between at 8.5, and have wide feet. I ordered my Bean Boots (with Gore-Tex/Thinsulate) in size 8 after reading a lot of reviews, and they ended up being the right choice. They fit great with regular or thick socksnot snug, but not too much wiggle room either. The added insulation provides a little more padding, and tons of warmth. I've worn them in rainy and snowy weather so far, and couldn't be more pleased. The 8" height is just right. I really can't imagine wearing anything else on my feet during inclement weather now.

Going through high school, I saw a bunch of kids that were part of the youth group purchasing these boots. As we started to get more snow here in Virginia, I finally agreed with my mom that I should get a pair. My only wish is that I had gotten these boots sooner. Not only do they look good, but the Gortex/Thinsulate keeps my feet warm and dry consistently. I actually look for puddles, snow, and mud to walk through knowing that these boots will just tear through it and come out looking great. As I love metaphors, I always refer to them as "The Range Rover of Footwear" as they mix luxury with utility; truly awesome boots to own. As I have moved on to UVA, these boots feel as if they are a part of a de facto dress code that I am proud to follow. Just make the purchase already. My one reservation I have to express about these boots is the Thinsulate may be a little much for someone that is not in a cold climate a lot. I'm personally okay with them being a bit warm, but some may find them a little bulky and overkill for their needs. I love the boot, but I advise one to assess their needs before buying with or without the lining.

Other than my hiking boots, I had no other type of waterproof footwear to speak of. I had always seen duck boots around but never really considered a pair till one of my friends had his pair of Bean Boots on one day and I asked about them. He's a really picky and detail-oriented guy so when he spoke highly of his boots, I paid attention. At a local outdoor store, there were some boots that looked similar to the Bean Boots but they were a different brand. I decided to order the Bean Boots as I wanted the "real thing". I was a little concerned at first at the sizing situation and the notes regarding how to pick the proper size. Normally I wear an 8.5 in most shoes and the guidance I was getting was to order a 7. Compounding my concern was the fact that the size I needed was backordered 3-4 months. It would be a massive disappointment to wait that long only to find I needed a different size and then have to repeat that 3-4 month wait. Thankfully though, the 7 was SPOT ON. I love wearing my boots. They are comfortable especially once you break the leather uppers in. They are fairly stiff when new.

I've had my pair for 15-20 years. The back "pull loop" broke on one about 2-3 years ago so I took them back (Freeport is 25 min away) and Bean fixed both for free, even though only one had failed.I own 5 pairs of Bean boots in various styles, the oldest being the original 10" style which I bought in 1983, and still going strong. I don't know why anyone would buy a "fake" of which there are many as seen at Cabela's or other so-called outdoor stores.

Love the look and feel of these boots. And of course functionality. Can't wait for my first snow storm. One thing to consider. I usually wear a 9 in regular shoes. Based on the sizing suggestion on LLBean's site it said to go one full size smaller. So I ordered the 8. The 8 might be a little too big. There's a space in the toe area and I can feel my heel slipping. After speaking to a customer service rep, I ordered a 7 W and was told to continue wearing the size 8 until I received the new ones and then I could return 8. Now that is 5 STAR customer service. By the way, I also bought a pair for my girlfriend.
